Da Vinci Code Forum

I am reading this finally, wanted to pick it up before I read The Da Vinci Code. So far so good. Please no spoilers yet, but what do you all think, those that have read it.

After reading the Da Vinci Code I gave up on Dan Brown, to be honest

I'd love to know if its any good, though...

Angels and Demons is the last book I read. I'm not much for reading novels, for some strange reason... I read this book within a week, which for me is extraordinary, because usually I don't even bother getting started. I remember burning through the first half of the book in like 2 days. So, if you wanna go with my opinion (although I don't read many novels, but I do a bit of creative writing... Go figure...), the book was great. I have absolutely nothing to compare it with due to my lack of interest in reading novels, but I hope that doesn't lessen my opinion...

It was a good book in my opinion. 'Nuff said.

I've heard from the peeps it was tight, have to find time to sit down and read it. I've been way busy lately, started the book over twice now. I will update you all on the opinion, not that anyone gives a Da Vinci crap about it...

I read A&D before the Dan Brown hype and loved it. plus, i hate murder mysteries so the fact that iloved it says a lot... it flew by which was cool.

It's pretty thick though, but the chapters are short. I can see myself taking this thing out in chunks.

The last book I've read is written in english and was bought in an airport in the US a couple weeks ago - "The broker" from John Grisham; I read it in a few days, good one.

OMG!! And didn't SWTT mention in the conspiracy forum once that the Illuminati held powers such as "Shapeshifting?" And isn't a shapeshifter the same as Metamorphmagus?

And yeah, I am sure this secret society existed and probably still does. All legend is based on some piece of reality. I've read a lot about this group, Masons, Skull & Bones, trippy stuff.

Good for you, that's all that I can say. Not caring about the religious aspects of it, really, I do care about the fact that I think that group is filled with people with horrific plans for the world.

Oh, I've known, for many years, about the Illuminati, and things that they do.

I've had a friend who got pretty high within them, and is now living a very protected life. Basically, he is taken, from town to town, constantly, and speaks at churches of his experiences, and about how god is keeping him safe, and from their sight, so that they can't find him.

Right... and they never will.

But, I have to admit, for awhile they terrorized me and they still do try to from time to time...and I survived and am relatively sane thanks be to Yahushua....

there are American terrorists right here right now...that no one really talks about....but Yahweh SEES ALL...not some one eyed demigog that exists on the back of your dollar bill.

Yeppers... why should we, when we have people in our gov't, like the president who would rather focus on foreign affairs, and keep the eye of the media off of what's happening in our own playground? We have people starving, living homeless, and much more, all over America. Do we help? NO... instead, lets butt into another country, and take over.

I loved that movie! It was sooooooo inspirational to me. I own a copy.

I've had their "coins" I threw them into the creek by my house after I saw that movie. Something about the "rule" of throwing evil into a moving water body to dispel it...so many freakin' rules!

The whole purpose is to create groups of people who do their dirty deeds and are so fragmented in their minds, they have no remembrance of such events, thus, secrets are kept because no one remembers them...

Rhodes Scholars are chosen yearly from Universities all over the world.

Supposedly, the best and the brightest, and may I add, the most....how can I say this....'pliable.'

They go to Oxford for 'special studies.'

England being one of the havens of the Illuminati....

You can pretty much watch where these Rhodes Scholars work/follow their careers after their studies in order to follow the yellow brick road...connect the dots...etc.

I checked further and if you click on Rhodes Alumni you will see your Whistler at the bottom....

The reason I asked you who Whistler was is because it freaked me for a second as the surname of my 'handler' was 'Whisler.'

But he has long gone changed his name and identity by now...as the local authorities ran him and even more out of town...so to speak.... in the early 1990's

whenever an injustice was done to me and discovered by well meaning people, for the most part, the authorities could only 'run these people out of town.'

His writing style is for a fourth grader, but that's cool. I need a dern break.
Pretty much I scan the page for something of worth and move on.

Pretty much the only 'nugget' I have gotten is the 'thumbs up' signal.
So, in my life, I pretty much stopped doing the devil's horns signal...I used to do it subconsciously, but I have wiped it from my vocabulary.

But this 'thumbs up' signal....well, let's say I begin end and fill conversations up with this signal. And since it signifies a phallic symbol....well, since I gave up Christmas trees...I am must abolish this signal from my vocabulary as well. It's amazing all the crap they teach you...and it becomes habit...so

I accidentally did a faux pas today at work...I told a coworker in relation to a job and a woman..."No, I haven't done her yet."

Very simple writing. It keeps you interested with short bursts of words and chapters, but that only gets you so far. Just proves that not all best sellers are to the author's credit. The only smart thing Brown did was picking a topic for the book

Yeah, it is pretty short and choppy. Easy page turner. It's odd to read a book with all this techno-babble that's dumbed down into bite-sized paragraphs.

I have only been able to read this book waiting for doctors, hairdressers, and in line at Target etc etc. so I am not very far into it.

I read today about this, what DB calls an Hassassin...hooked on women...
he says, 'I am a connoisseur' while paying for his 'meal.' Oh brother, where do I begin.

First of all, a 'connoisseur' in the Illuminati would not pay for diddley. There are specially made mind control victims for that.

Second of all, a 'connoisseur' if he/she were in a 'pinch' and no mind control girlie was around....they'd head for the nearest dance club, disco, whatever they're called these days. They'd walk around find what they wanted...boom chock a locka wouldn't be long and whoops dere it is! They could tell exactly what someone was 'into' just by looking at them...no need for a freakin' menu!

I'll give you an example.
I had a straight female boss a little older than me once who was completely fascinated by the fact that I had so many, 'wimmins hangin' round.'
And she wanted to know how that was possible. So, I told her' pick out the best straight dance club in town and I'll show you.'

So, we get there and I said...pick out any woman with their back to us and within 30 seconds they will turn around and smile at me.
So, after about 5 successful attempts I said, 'Come on, make it difficult!'
And she saw a beautiful blonde model type from the back and said 'that one.'
So in way less than 30 seconds, she turns around, walks toward me and gave a look of recognition. When she realized who I was...she threw her arms around me and gave a big kiss...
Seems I grew up with this lady back in Illinois....we were childhood chums, I used to spend time on her 'entrenched' families farm and ride horses. And 2000 miles away from our hometown, there she was. And she was modeling at the time, but got out of it later because she thought the profession was for idiots.

So, that book isn't accurate in that sense.

Ron Howard is a really good director and this thing was practically written for the big screen. Tom Hanks will rock and the movie should be huge.

I say it easily breaks into the top 40 highest grossing movies of all time (domestic).

Definitely, the book reigned high on its perch for a really long time, this can draw a huge audience. I'll be in the seats.

I don't know if I can complete this book with all the pro Roman Catholic and vatican worshipping blah blah blah.

and the view of women already in this book, and the warning of my neighbour about DaVinci code being asinine with women....
Like one Pope centuries ago deciding Mary Magdalene was a ho, then in 1967 another pope deciding she wasn't a ho...when the scripture clearly states she was a prostitute redeemed by Yahweh's love and mercy....
I have no idea why any self respecting woman would put themselves under such a hierarchy...

I have a real difficult time with the RCC as it is...and then now this book with its fake paranoia and pro RCC hierarchy and Vatican ...

I'm on page 208...it gets a little better, but at 100 I felt the same way.

I think we're going to be taken through catacombs and such....it will be long and drawn out too I believe...like the rest of the book has been.

I mean how many times do they have to mention that the 4 preferred potential heads of the Roman Catholic church are missing?

This Dan Brown is really good at redundancy...as if his readers are so stupid he has to repeat things over and over.

WARNING SPOILER AHEAD if you've not reached near page 380

I read the Carmelengo's little speech broadcasted around the world.
It wasn't nearly as significant as John Galt's speech in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, but oh well.

The speech was poignant, yes, but it lacked substance, in my opinion.
Technology (science) vs. religion....hmmmmmm....pretty much that is how I saw the movie The Matrix...but that is beside the point.

The Carmelengo made one particular blunder in my opinion. The blunder that I see as the blunder of Roman Catholicism anyway....so it's no wonder it was majorly apparent to me.

He said: "Religion is flawed, but only because man is flawed."

Now, this makes the case several posters here have made regarding religion.
Religion is manmade, communion and relationship with the Almighty by the sacrifice of Jesus is a gift from the Father.
This is a huge distinction. I would rather have relationship with the Creator of the Universe than follow the manmade credos of a bunch of grey haired men with 'celibacy' issues.

But that's just me.

Won't say much, cuz I know some people are still reading it.

The book doesn't get interesting, IMO, until near page 450...then it gets clear sailing. I think he could have cinched the 450 pages up into a neat 200, but again, IMO.

For a writer who states at the very beginning that the Illuminati is a real force...he sure contradicts himself by the ending. Hahaha!

But then....we are onto the Da Vinci Code...where this 'secret society,' IS a part of the Illuminati...
