DELTA Goodrem's fans normally can't find fault with the songbird but even they have acknowledged she was a little off key at the ARIAs on Sunday night.
Her official website forum is carrying scores of messages from her adoring public wondering what went wrong with her live performance of her No.1 single Out of the Blue.
Most are blaming technical problems, suggesting the former Neighbours star was having trouble with her earpiece.
But Confidential cannot help wondering, as are a number of those on the forum, whether it was singing that particular tune that was causing the problem.
The song, the first single from the album Mistaken Identity, was written about her new romance to tennis star Mark Philippoussis.
Just hours before her ARIAs performance, a website had reported rumours of trouble in paradise.
On the same website forum, talk had surfaced about the alleged existence of photographs of the Scud Muffin with another woman.
Phillipoussis is overseas and while Goodrem has been giving plenty of interviews lately, promoting the ARIAs, her underwear range and her new single and album, their relationship is off limits to journalists.
And it seems to enforce the no-go zone, her record company Sony has taken to recording phone interviews.

Delta outdoes Kylie
DELTA Goodrem continues to break chart records. Out of the Blue became her sixth consecutive No. 1 single this week – something not even Kylie or Madonna had managed.
"Six No. 1s is amazing," Goodrem said yesterday.
"At the ARIAs the other night, I remember thinking, `Wow, it's not that easy to get awards,' so you can never take it for granted."
While Kylie and Madonna have had more Australian No. 1 singles, Delta has achieved her sixth in just over two years, not two decades.
Goodrem flew to Britain yesterday, where she will film the video for her Brian McFadden duet Almost Here, which is on both Delta's Mistaken Identity album (released on November 7) and McFadden's first solo album Irish Son.
She'll also move into promo mode for the belated UK release of Out of the Blue on November 8.
While she scoffed at rumours linking her romantically to McFadden, she wasn't talking about her relationship with Mark Philippoussis.
Journalists were warned not to ask about her personal life and her record company taped all phone interviews.
"I just want to get back to talking about my music again," Goodrem said.
Goodrem, who turns 20 next month, is reportedly yet to speak to Philippoussis about alleged photos of him with another woman.
But she is excited about her first Australian tour, expected to take place next year.
"I really want to get out there and sing for people again," she said.
