I remember, after starting to post over 2 and a half years ago, Inreview used to be an active posting forum. You would post a thread, and people would reply within minutes. Looking at the sad state of Inreview now, (and I have checked all forums), the average time between post's is well over an hour. Needless to say I am posting under a different username, but regardless of the fact that I came here with some animosity towards the inreview owners, I can't help but feel some level of pity.

I reguarly post on other forums, such as the BBC F1 forum, (I am a massive F1 fan), and the average time for a reply to a post there is about a minute.

Maybe this needs to be considered by the IR owners. IR used to be a great place to debate issues. Then IR owners decided to use tactics such as IP banning of people who say anything bad about IR. People do not like to use a China style posting board where censorship goes to the level of banning IP addresses of people who critisize the board.

Anyway, I no longer have a problem with IR, I just pity it. Something that could have become a real force, (and at one point was) has become a sad, pathetic, forum with debates between a handful of people who only check up every few hours.

RIP Inreview.

Thanks for the input, not sure if this belongs in the Iraq forum, however.

Oh right, so everyone is just emailing you personally rather than posting public comments huh? Great idea for a posting forum. Check out the actual reply times on ANY forum on IR.

A couple of years ago, regardless of the time, replies came thick and fast, (and not just from mods like this one). Nobody can be arsed to post reguarly on IR any more.

Go on mod's, post the stats. Number of posts per day compared to 2 years ago. Or even better, a graphic that shows number of posts per month for the last 2 and a half years. What do you think? Better now or then?

If you post in a thread, you get an email from when someone else posts. You must have forgot.

Hey, by the way, did you get banned before?

No, because banning someone involved putting a vote to the masses. With me, I didn't do anything that could be banned for, (I just critisized IR with no breaking of any ground rules), so they placed my IP and username on a list that would give "busy" messages every time I tried to log on. Would have been fine, but I know how to use proxies.

I had postings that violated no rules deleted on purpose by a mod who was pro-war. IR owners then realised this, and decided to make me go away, rather than explain why one of them decided to censor opinion by deletion. Obviously, showing a "board is busy" message seemed like a good idea.

Yeah, you broke ALL the rules, and got banned. So will this new one I guess. See ya.

Let's see now. Flaming is breaking the rules, so if you got kicked out it was because you were unable and unwilling to follow the rules that you agreed to abide by when you signed on as a member.

R.I.P I think not. More like a "boo hoo I got kicked out party."

I would not say this place is dead it's as lively as ever. I knew who this was the minute this person posted something on another forum.
But maybe nobody replies to this person because he/she is a worthless piece of ( insert your own word here, I have a ton of suggestions if you really want)

I remember the issue well, and how convenient that the thread starter forgot how I personally posted the IR policies MORE THAN ONCE for him to read, showing him in detail how he violated the rules. We also DID give an explanation and SEVERAL apologies for his post being accidentally deleted, but he chose to believe that we were akin to "Nazis", if I remember correctly, and that we were lying profusely to cover up a deleted post and an incensed member simply because their intellect and opinions were too great for us to deal with.

Rubbish. The post deletion was an accident. The subsequent reactions and demands made by him were unfair, ridiculous, and unwarranted. The attacks made against other members of the board who happen to be mods was unacceptable, and when he would neither accept the apology as sufficient, nor refrain from calling mods names, we had our fill. He mentions one issue, but there were several issues from before, and this guy was a problem member for quite sometime and had received many previous warnings regarding name-calling and the like. So, at the first instance when a mod makes a mistake that directly affects him (during a clash of opinions with said mod in which the thread starter worked his usual black magic and belittled the mod several times), the thread starter attempts to flex his muscles instead of accepting our repeated apologies over a MISTAKE.

Also, regarding that policy of putting a troublemaker up on a vote to be banned... I recall explaining that a vote is NOT a right. That PRIVILEDGE can be revoked if the mods so choose, for reasons that are clearly defined in the policies. The thread starter had the priviledge of a vote to ban revoked because his actions fell under those that can lead to a member being banned without a vote.

This isn't rocket science. READ the policies, then go back to the threads and BE HONEST with yourself. YOU caused your ban to happen, not us. It's been a long time coming due to your continued attitude and how you interact with other posters as if you're the utter expression of high intellect.

Regarding InReview being dead... I'll agree that it's not where it was 2 years ago, but anyone who's been here that long knows this. The place isn't dead. It's just not what it used to be in terms of activity. Who is to say that the present situation won't change? Who is to say that a lot of effort and long nights haven't been devoted to bringing the site back to where it once was and beyond? Is ScottC to say these things, as a banned member who couldn't get along with other members during his tumultuous time here? I think not.

*sigh* Some people desire to be viewed, by the world, as pathetic. They can't just "Move On" in life. No, they hang around like an in grown nail. But, it CAN be removed. That way, it doesn't hurt the toe anymore.

INReview dead? That's a laugh... might not be heavy traffic for awhile, but that's because INR moved servers, and we lost our Google support. It's back up, and we are doing just fine.

So, to those people, like Scott C, let me just say....

THANK YOU... DRIVE THROUGH! NEXT!

Hmm, banned member. I remember the rules of IR. I remember the fact that polls needed to be conducted before "BANNING" a member. I was never baned. I was not cautioned. I was not informed, upon logging onto the site, that I was banned. I merely got the pathetic message that "Inreview is too busy at the moment, please try later".

As for " The place isn't dead. It's just not what it used to be in terms of activity. Who is to say that the present situation won't change?", who is to say that it will? It is pathetic. I post on many boards, and this is the least active. This place used to be the premier posting board for activity, then just died.

Maybe, if you chose not to use such tactics of censorship, you may have more members posting. I will reitterate. At no point was I given a warning. At no point was I officially banned. At no point was a poll conducted to ask should I be banned, but what did happen, is that long after the "accidental" deletions, my postings were deleted by the same person that "accidentally" deleted the first.

Were they all accidents? I asked at the time, what was contained within these postings that warranted deleting, and I recieved no reply.

Inreview is recieving the pathetic posting numbers because people can post on boards that do not censor them to such a silly level.

If you want to keep this up, why not just come out with it, and call yourself freerepublic2.com. At least then you will have regular posters who actually want the censorship.

He came back to let us know,
he has moved beyond Inreview,
and that we suck,
and to shame us,
and to let us know he is doing so much better at the f1 forum and that he pity's us.

Just a nice feller,

Inreview used to be pretty bumpin'

back when the two Matrix movies came out.

and during Presidential elections and when we first invaded Iraq.

everyone got burned out, there's not much left to discuss, it's the same thing with the same people over and over again.

so the regulars and the Gold members and the staff members just shoot the breeze and crack jokes. Fine with me.

Maybe if Inreview is around for the next elections, it'll be bumpin' again.

Gubernational elections are this year. Anyone wanna discuss them? Who are you voting for, Kaine (D) or Kilgore (R)?

Oh yeah I'm the only Virginian here so I'm the only one who cares. It doesn't matter which one of them gets elected anyway. They both have names that start with K, both support the death penalty, and neither gives a crap about higher education.

It's gonna be a crazy, crazy election.

Actually, no. If you were able to read, (which I seriously doubt given your writing ability), you would have seen that I have actually been officially barred zero times.

So you got banned for breaking rules that were clearly stated by the site itself? Yeah, you have every reason to complain. I hang around forums where you can get banned if you say something stupid. It just comes with the territory.

So no one here really cares what you think of the board. Do I post here a lot? No, not anymore. Am I going to post a thread about how no one posts here anymore and how inreview is evil because I got banned?

No.

Once again, (sigh), I have never been banned. What happened is that a mod got annoyed with finding someone who complained at his postings being deleted. That is it. I was never brought before the group to ask if I should be banned, I was just given the message, "The site is too busy". Once again, Inreview decided to display this message because I was someone who questioned the motives of someone who deleted a message that went totally against that persons beliefs.

Once again, I don't care what you think, but the point is that Inreview is dead. End of story, end of thread. Look at the posting frequency of IR now compared to a couple of years ago. The answer? IR is dead.

RIP LOL
