So apparently Daniel Craig has been chosen as the new James Bond and will be starring in Casino Royale soon.

Article Here

Interesting aye? I've only seen this guy in a few things, so I'll have to wait and see how he goes in this movie before I comment... but... he's not the most handsome chap on the face of the planet is he.

Casino Royale seems like its going to be directed by Martin Campbell, who directed Golden Eye, so that looks like it may work out alright in the end.

It's kind of cool, really, its like they're starting the James Bond legend from the very beginning... I wonder if they'll remake Sean Connery or Roger Moore's movies eventually

Anyway, Casino Royale, coming to theatres near you, 2006

This is yet another non-MGM Bond movie, this time being released by Sony. Last time that happened it was the last Sean Connery flick, 'Never Say Never Again' that was released by Warner Bros. MGM later bought the rights, but it was not as good as the Roger Moore 'standard' Bond that came out that same year.

What is cool is that Judi Dench and Robert Cleese are said to reprise their roles. We shall see.

John Cleese. But yeah, they're pretty good in their roles. I love how they passed the torch of Q's on in a proper fashion...

Umm... Never Say Never Again wasn't great, but it didn't suck even half as much as the Timothy Dalton Bond movies did. They're the only ones I didn't bother buying on DVD when they first came out. My favorites are still the early Sean Connery ones... You Only Live Twice will always be my favorite, I think.

I think Casino Royale could be good if they stick with the material and don't over-do it. If it works out, I wouldn't mind seeing a new series of Bond movies, in the same sequence as the books...

wtf?

Moneypenny and Q Axed from 'Casino Royale'
Producers of the forthcoming James Bond movie Casino Royale have axed the legendary Miss Moneypenny character. Moneypenny, who has waved the suave super-spy off on some of his most perilous missions, been written out of the new film because she only fleetingly appears in Ian Fleming's original novel. Gadget-inventor Q, last played by John Cleese will also be absent from the new film - in which British actor Daniel Craig will play 007 for the first time. The news is the biggest indication the new film will deviate substantially from the spirit of previous Bond adventures. Co-producer Michael G. Wilson confirms, "Neither Miss Moneypenny nor Q will appear. Neither of them are in the book. The film will update the novel but stick very closely to the storyline."

No Q? Who'll bother going to see it then?

No Moneypenny? No Q? A blonde Bond?

Me think this might be the end of the Bond franchise

No, the end was when Timothy Dalton got his licence to kill.

Awful. Simply awful...

But this seems a close second as far as "Bond Disasters" go. I was feeling pretty optimistic up until this point.

NZ director for 007

New Zealand-born Martin Campbell will direct the next James Bond movie. Mr Campbell directed GoldenEye in 1995, and has been signed to direct Casino Royale next year.

Casino Royale was first made in 1967, featuring David Niven as 'Sir James'. 37 year-old blond British actor Daniel Craig has been signed to play Bond.

Producer Barbara Broccoli is said to have passed on re-signing Pierce Brosnan. She wanted fresh blood, with the plot of Casino Royale returning to the start of the spy's career, and therefore requiring a younger actor.

So it's a young James Bond movie? Can they pull that off? We all know what great things the "future" holds for Bond, can we really expect to want to watch his first efforts as a spy?

Sellers version was fantastic.

I hope MGM does another Bond movie soon, this one sounds like it's going to be crapo.

Bond's Jolie roger?

ANGELINA Jolie may be the new Bond girl.

Producers are keen to sign her up to play Vesper Lynd, a Russian double agent who beds Bond.

Daniel Craig was confirmed last week as the new 007.

But two favourites will not be appearing in the next movie. Producers have axed the legendary Miss Moneypenny character, who has waved the spy off on some of his most perilous missions. Gadget inventor Q, last played by John Cleese, will also be absent from the new film, Casino Royale.

The news is the biggest indication the film will deviate sharply from previous Bond adventures.

I can't see her with Daniel Craig at all.

Aren't Bond girls generally more no-names? With Daniel Craig being more of a no-name, maybe they're ttrying to get a big-ticket female to play the love interest to get people to watch because peopel might not watch this new Bond?

Hmm... Bond girls are generally moderately famous... a few have been quite famous, but the Bond feller has always out-billed them. Jolie next to this Craig dude won't go down too well. It would make Bond seem extremely inferior...

Kelly Brook will compete with Sienna Miller to become the next James Bond girl in the new 007 movie, Casino Royale. the sexy TV presenter is hoping to revive her flopping film career. A Bond insider said she has a chance to become the sexy sidekick of the British spy.

He said: "She'd make a great Bond girl. She's already a hit with the directors because of her amazing figure. Bond girls have never been stick-thin girls. They celebrate beauty and curves. It's all hinges on her audition."

"Kate Moss is rumoured to be starring in the next Bond film opposite ex-boyfriend Daniel Craig. Bosses say the shamed supermodel, who is currently battling her cocaine addiction, would be a perfect Bond girl because of her stunning looks. .

She will reportedly star alongside Sienna Miller, who has already landed a role in upcoming film 'Casino Royale'. A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Film bosses are interested in giving Kate a fresh start in the movie. She's stunning and already has chemistry with Daniel and Sienna, which would work well on screen". Meanwhile, Kate's mother has jetted to America to see her daughter in drug rehab after a call for help.

Mum Linda flew to the Arizona clinic on last week after a telephone call from the disgraced supermodel, who checked into the treatment centre after she was caught on camera snorting cocaine. A friend told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper the star has been supported by her mum throughout the scandal The source said: "Kate does not really know who her friends are, but she knows she can rely on her mother When Kate asked her to go out to Arizona, Linda did not hesitate - she booked a flight straight away"

I can't believe they've cast Sienna opposite Daniel after she cheated on Jude with Daniel. Although maybe that's why they've done it, people want to see the "chemistry" between them? I can't see Kate getting a movie role this big, rehab or no rehab, maybe before the cocaine scandal, but not now. She's too no-name to most Americans isn't she?

I think Kelly Brook probably the most "bond-girl" look of all three of them.

And I can't believe Kate Moss is going to star in much of anything for a while.

Kelly Brook looks nice. Don't recognize her from anywhere...

There were better actors that could have played Bond for example Colin Farrel, Jude Law, Clive Owen and Ewan McGregor were all mentioned personally I think they would have all sucked big time I also think Danlei Craig will suck, I would have gone with Dougray Scott I know he is not a big name actor but he I think he fits the bill better than the others.

The worst Bond ever was the guy that done On her Majestys secret service a truly awful performance.

The hard thing about being Bond now is that you are replacing Brosnan who IMO is the best Bond ever that is going to be some task being better at the rold than Brosnan but personally I think Craig has been given a poisoned chalice the ideas for the film so far seems like this film is going to suck big time.

I recently realised that Daniel Craig was the bounty hunter from Tomb Raider and he wasn't bad in that. I am not going to judge this guy as Bond until I see it, but for Pierce Brosnan is Bond, so it'll be big shoes to fill.

Charlize Theron has reportedly knocked back a Bond girl role and Jessica Simpson is said to be in the running? Jessica Simpson? I love her .. but a Bond Girl? I don't know about that? Can she kick-butt?

I thought it was a bad choice at first, but I'll tell you this: the trailer for the movie looks pretty intense. I'm definitely going to see it.

The trailer for the movie looks killer- it gives me chills. I hear you about being skeptical about Craig at first...but now I have no doubts. He will be an awesome Bond, just as all of the previous Bonds have been.

Check out the trailer

The movie does look good, I have to admit. If they can make a series like this (keeping with the books while including some of the charm of the old movies), then I can probably keep enjoying Bond for many years to come.

Agreed-- they have kept my interest with the Bond films for this long, I doubt I can be disappointed. Have you all been to the website?

the trailer was cool, but he just don't look like a Bond. Dude is rough.

That's a high dollar trailer though.

He is rough, I've gotta agree. I could see him possibly being Bond though. I'll give him a chance. I wasn't that fond of Bronson at first, but anything was better than Dalton I kept telling myself.

I've seen the website pink cashmere, not bad.

There's a lot of promo posters for this movie scattered around the train station at the moment. Though it says it doesn't come out until November, so I don't know why they're advertising it so early.

Gonna catch this at the cinemas, I'm sure of it. From what I've read and seen, it keeps close to the source material (I've never read Casino Royal, but I read a good, thorough review of the book). Dare I say that this may rock?

About this dude being tough, from what I've read about Casino Royal the book, Bond is quite a tough, chauvinist kind of fellow. I read that Casino Royal ends with... wait... no, won't say that, but it's kind of a dark note with Bond showing that he doesn't give much of a hoot about whose life he ruins.

Gotta wonder how many love children the dude has.

In the other books Bond is this tough, Chauvinist stone cold killer who half loves his job and half hates it. I think the only person that played Bond that way was Dalton.

Though Dalton's movies sucked, he wasn't a bad Bond, that's true.
