LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Hollywood megastar Tom Cruise and his fiancee of four months, actress Katie Holmes, are expecting a baby, Cruise's publicist announced as the couple's whirlwind romance took a dramatic new turn.

"Katie is pregnant," the "Mission Impossible" and "Top Gun" star's publicist and sister, Lee Anne DeVette, told AFP. "They are expecting a baby. They are very excited," she added.

DeVette declined to say when the 26-year-old actress was expected to give birth to the famous pair's first child, but said Holmes was doing well with her pregnancy and "had never felt better."

But the couple, dubbed "TomKat" by the entertainment press -- a combination of the first syllable of each of their first names -- have not yet set a day to tie the knot. "There is no wedding date set yet," DeVette said.

Cruise has two other children Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, with his ex-wife, Australian Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman. They split in 2001 after 10 years of marriage.

Cruise, 43, and Holmes, who was known mainly for her US television roles before starring in this year's "Batman Begins," first revealed they were dating just six months ago and announced their engagement at a press conference in Paris in June.

The pair have become the most-scrutinised couple in Tinseltown since they began dating just as each hit the road earlier this year to promote their new movies" "Batman" and Cruise's blockbuster "War of the Worlds".

The couple sparked off a media frenzy when they announced in April they were dating and then sent the entertainment press into overdrive when Cruise announced during a "War of the Worlds" press conference that he had proposed to Holmes atop the Eiffel tower on June 16.

The relationship became the most talked about in Hollywood since the usually very private Cruise began giddily expressing his love for Holmes during interviews and engaging in very public displays of affection on red carpets across the world.

I knew this would happen sooner or later.

I would much rather see Katie Holmes and Josh Harnett having a child together than with Tom Cruise.

It's nice that he finally gets to have kids of his own after Nicole had so much trouble conceiveing and they had to adopt, it must be hard for Nicole Kidman to hear this news, especially the rumours concerning her having a miscarriage after divorce are true.

Even so, it's still so early to be having babies and getting married they haven't even been together a year.

Katie had better pray that she doesn't get post partum depression. Tom would be a horrible spouse to someone suffering from this condition.

Q: What do you think of all the media hype about you and Tom? Why do you think they are making such a big deal about you and him?

A: I'm used to it by now. I recieved a lot of attention when I was about twelve years old. My dad was involved in a stock fraud scandal with Xerox. He was criticized for defending Xerox and we were followed by the media where ever we went. I've gotten letters from various people who have told me about Tom and why we shouldn't be married. I once received this letter from a hooker who told me this shocking story of Tom's past. I think the media and these protestors are trying to defend me against him. They feel that I am being controlled by him, which may be true. I look at myself in the mirror now-of-days and say, 'Katie, where are you?'.

Q: Do you love your career more than you do, you?

A: Don, I know it sounds harsh and critical but I think that my career is very important in my life now. If I want to survive in this industry I've got to stand up and shout and that is breaking me. I come from a good family. A family that loves me. I feel that I deserve a career like Nicole's (Nicole Kidman)

Considering Nicole's career didn't really take off until AFTER she divorced Tom Cruise, Katie should be careful for what she wishes. Tom generally dumps his partner if they get more successful and famous than he is.

Did you know that the night before the annoucement of the pregnancy Katie fired her publicist without telling her the news and Katie and her publicist were good friends and had worked toegther for almost ten years. Katie then had Tom's publicist take over her career management and make the announcement of the pregnancy.

Katie's ex-publicist was called that day and she said she had no ideas they were even thinking about a family so soon, let alone that Katie was pregnant.

That is rubbish that Tom could take over her life like that so that Katie couldn't even tell her publicist, who she's been friends with for ten years, but Tom can turn it around and use the announcement of the pregnancy for publicity.

Knock somebody up for publicity....that's just so wrong......

There are "rumours" that Katie might have a "miscarriage" around December.

I wouldn't wish a REAL miscarriage on my worst enemies, but if you fake a pregnancy and a miscariiage or anyhting like that for publicity you need a bloody damn good kick up the arse.

The sad things is that now that this rumour is out there, if Katie does have a real miscarriage no one will believe her. Sad.

See, I don't understand why some people are afraid of gay people. Katie Holmes is proof that gay men can have children.

Early Ultrasound Shows Holmes Pregnant With Tiny PR Rep

One day after announcing that they were expecting a baby, actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes stunned the world by revealing that an early ultrasound taken of the fetus reveals it to be a tiny publicist.

Mr. Cruise and Ms. Holmes did not indicate an approximate due date for the publicist, but said that the fetus would be making an official statement later in the week.

Obstetrician Ivan Kloester, who performed the ultrasound at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, said that it was too early to tell whether the publicist was a boy or a girl but added, “The fetus is very excited about working with Tom and Katie.”

Speaking to People Magazine, Mr. Cruise said the fact that his wife-to-be is giving birth to a tiny PR rep “rocks my world.”

“When I found out it was a publicist, I was like, that is just totally awesome!” Mr. Cruise said. “And man, was I relieved it wasn’t a psychiatrist!”

Buddy Schlantz, a veteran talent agent and a longtime observer of the Hollywood scene, said that the birth of a publicist could be a huge positive for Mr. Cruise’s career.

“The way Tom has been carrying on for the last few months, he has been crying out for a publicist to sit him down and tell him to clean up his act,” Mr. Schlantz said. “I’ll say this, though: that little fetus has a big job to do.”

The Actor Is Doing Everything To Please His Pregnant Fiancée.
Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise plans to buy a $1.5 million (€1,2m) house in his fiancée Katie Holmes' hometown of Toledo, Ohio.
The house is a nine-bedroom mansion owned by Dale Brulh. "The neighbours saw limousines in front of the house when (real estate agents) were showing it. I'm sure it's them. Her mother lives in the area," Dale revealed.


Until now Cruise’s representatives denied rumours of Tom and Katie looking for a home but residents of Toledo are still holding out hope of becoming the couple’s neighbours. One shop from the town even sells gift-wraps for people who want to give to Cruise and Holmes a present: "We gift-wrap baby gifts for Tom and Katie's baby!"


Tom and Katie announced a few months ago they are expecting their first child and sources claim that the couple intends to wed as soon as possible because Tom doesn’t want his baby to be born outside of marriage.

Despite all the rumors, Katie Holmes is not moving to her hometown, we learned.
According to rumorts, Tom Cruise was planning to buy a lavish home in his fiancee Katie Holmes' hometown of Toledo, Ohio.

Katie Holmes is a Toledo native, and her parents live really close to the house that reportedly caught the attention of parents-to-be.

The rumors sparked when limousines stopped in front of the house when real estate agents were showing it. And a store window in the centre of town already reads: "We gift-wrap baby gifts for Tom and Katie's baby!"

"I'm sure it's them. Her mother lives in the area," says the proud house owner.

Tom Cruise's representative has slashed out at the rumors.

Will the fabulous Katie Holmes sit for a pregnancy photo shoot where she bares all, as Demi Moore did for Vanity Fair? Its possible says tabloid 'Life & Style.' The magazine alleges that a friend and insider says Tom Cruise wants to keep Katie in the spotlight and keep the baby buzz going, even right before the birth.

The insider is quoted in the magazine: "Tom sees this baby as a gold mine of publicity." And Katie is willing to do whatever Tom wants."

What Tom wants according to the report is mom-to-be Katie baring all for a major magazine cover. "Tom wants them to do the cover as a couple, with Katie revealing her pregnant bump in a sexy, but classy nude pose."

So - when is the shoot - if Tom gets his way?

The tab predicts December, so Katie's baby bump will be huge and to optimize the publicity. "The magazine would come out just as she's to give birth," the insider spills.

Kidman ‘devastated’ about Cruise’s baby

Nicole Kidman reportedly heard about Tom Cruise's impending child on television, not from her ex-husband personally.

Katie Holmes’ forthcoming bundle of joy isn’t causing joy for everyone.

Nicole Kidman is said to be “devastated” by the news that her ex-hubby, Tom Cruise, is about to have his first biological child with fiancée Holmes.

And, although Cruise and Kidman are said to be in regular contact with one another, the buzz is that Kidman found out that he was an expecting dad from television.

“Nic learned about Tom and Katie’s baby the same way as everyone else — from the TV,” a friend of Kidman’s told Britain’s Grazia magazine. “She went shopping immediately after hearing the news to try and take her mind off it, but that just made things worse. She says people pointed at her, and everyone was whispering as soon as she turned her back. She’s taking it very hard.”

Kidman’s rep, when contacted by The Scoop, declined to comment on the story, dismissing it as “silliness.”

I don't think it's "silliness", Nicole and Tom tried for almost ten years to have their own child and (supposedly, it's still unconfirmed) just when they finaliy concieved, he left her for Penelope and she had that miscarriage.

Now to find out this way that he is pregnant with a woman he's only been with for six months, must be hard.

If Nicole and Tom did have trouble concieving then you'd say (guessing from katie's pregnancy) that the troubles were with Nicole and nothing is wrong with Tom's "seed".

That is of course, assuming that Katie's baby is actually Tom's

Weird. They even had a picture on the news here of her in the hospital holding the baby.

This is gonna bug me to no end

It's a ploy, Grant.... because I'm telling you, there is NOTHING being said here in the US. And, they are having the baby at home... not in a hospital. There is NO WAY that Tom is going to allow pictures right away. I just don't see that happening, with how weird, and over protective, he's being.

He had the birth perfectly planned. But it seems Tom Cruise may have forgotten one important factor. The mother.
His pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes is said to have been less than happy with his wish for a drug-free and scream-free delivery, as prescribed by his Scientology faith.

So the 43-year-old actor appears to have altered his ideal scenario.


Asked what Miss Holmes could have during the birth, he told US chat show host Diane Sawyer: "Whatever the woman wants. I'm not gonna tell Kate … you know, if she needs an epidural, she's gonna get her epidural.

"And there's this whole thing that if she needs medicine, she needs medicine."

He explained the idea behind a silent birth. "It's basically just respecting the mother and helping to be quiet. Not the mother.

"The mother makes as much noise … and people … you know, she's going through it. She does what she's gotta do. OK?"

Miss Holmes, 27, who is due to give birth any day, looked weary during a shopping expedition for handbags at a Beverly Hills department store on Thursday.

But there seems little chance of her being able to raid the medicine chest for relief.

Cruise has made no secret of his scepticism about conventional medicine.

He told GQ magazine: "I've always found the, 'If it makes me feel better, it's OK' rationale a little suspect."

In the past he has criticised antidepressants, questioning Brooke Shields's revelation that she took them to help her get over post-natal depression.

Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard devised a manual for giving birth called the 'Bradley' method.

Its edicts include a natural delivery with no painkillers, the father acting as a birth coach and no shouting and screaming because birth is already traumatic for the baby.

During his interview, Cruise explained that despite Miss Holmes growing up a Catholic, their baby would not be baptised.

In a move which may upset her religious family, Cruise said: "You can be Catholic and be a Scientologist. You can be Jewish and a Scientologist. But we're just Scientologists."

Miss Holmes's family is understood to be sceptical about the relationship and even more upset the couple did not marry before having a child.

Cruise has two adopted children, Conor, 11, and Isabella, 13, from his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman, who is now engaged to country music star Keith Urban.

He has said he plans to marry Miss Holmes after he finishes promoting his latest film, Mission Impossible III. He is due to attend the London premiere this month.

Cruise also spoke of his 'spectacular' sex life. The secret, he confided, is good communication.

"Sex is about the connection. Great sex is a by-product, for me, of a great relationship, where you have communication and it's an extension of that.

"Where it's just free. And that's how it should be. It's spectacular."

I'm kind of with em. All these woman screaming during childbirth. It's irratating as hell.
