a thread where I get to rant.
well... here goes
certain religious types believe that boys and girls should remain patient and not have sex until they are married.
granted, I am willing to be realistic. People who date each other for an extended period of time are going to have sex. That is all there is to it. I expect this to happen, and don't even necessarily dissapprove of this type of action.
BUT
my problem begins here.............
Parents...... an unnervingly substantial amount of parents... not only are apathetic about their kids having sex before they are adults, but some actually blatantly tell their kids that they SHOULD NOT WAIT.
it makes me sick.
I mean, okay, tell your kids they should wait, and then, when they are in their twenties they will realize that it's not that big a deal..... BUT ACTUALLY ENCOURAGING IT??????????????????
pure irresponsibility imho
then these same people, when I try to argue the wrongs of abortion (such as DON'T HAVE SEX WITH SOMEONE YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN WITH or DON'T HAVE SEX IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET/GET SOMEBODY PREGNANT) argue that "teens are going to have sex."
Bull-shiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaattt
I mean yeah... there's only so much you can do against the natural urges of the human-monkey...
but when you are encouraging sexual irresponsibility......
of course we are not going to be able to achieve it....

Agreed on point 1, somewhat on point 2.
But you have to realize, the thing about drugs and prostitution is it creates a very steep slippery slope. Sure, you, me and the dude next door wouldn’t sneeze twice about said things being legalized.
You have to take a huge step back and understand that not only a large part of American society, but humanity in general, is living in the grey. As nasty as it sounds, laws are the only thing that separates us from savages. What if murder was legal? Sure, it's an extreme example, but if we start legalizing certain things that corrupt society, what's next? I think that only perpetuates a degradation of us all.
And to be honest, it's not like drugs and whores are hard to find. Look in any newspaper for an 'escort.' Most of them will do the damn thing for a price. As for drugs, go to any bar and drop hints. Cops know it, people know it. It's the most legal illegal thing out there.
Bad enough we have a country full of glutton’s and nicotine afflicted alcoholics. Must we make them worse?
As big of a gambler as I am, I am totally happy it is relegated to those few areas.
Remember, self-control is relative.
Although I believe our civil liberties are being subdued by the current administration, we still are the most free country in the world.

I was kind of thinking the same thing.
It has often occurred to me that we are living in the Sodom and Gomorrah of the 21st century.
Sure, what the world considers acceptable behaviour has changed, BUT........
there in lies the problem.

Very well said. I couldn't agree with you more. Laws are needed to protect us all from going ape on each other.

Whores are everywhere, and they aren't necessarily standing on street corners to make a profit anymore. They are on the covers of magazines, in family oriented movies, planting subliminal messages in advertisements for coffee beans, mattresses, soap dispensers, contact lenses, cat food, etc, etc, etc, etc. The whole sales industry has become an industry of whores, and the public laps it all up like sick dogs who are dying for a drink of water. Children are being raised to worship the people who are essentially selling sex. The next generation of whoring has begun.

Yes, but for anyone to think that God singled out New Orleans for its debauchery ought to take a look at their own cities....there isn't any more or less debauchery in New Orleans than my Denver, LA, San Fran, New York City or Chicago.....or Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Beijing, or London.
when He takes down the world for its sorcery and sexual immorality and rejection of His Son, he won't be singling out any city and town.....His wrath will be upon the entire world...and there will be no doubt by ANYONE whose hand is wielding the 100pound hailstones, for instance.

I completely agree, SWTT. I touched on that in the tsunami threads several months ago. People thought God was punishing the world for its sinful acts, and I thought, well, I wonder what sinful acts those people have engaged in that Western society hasn't? It made no sense to me, considering that the western world, according to what is considered sinful behaviour in the bible, is pretty much the cradle of all sin.
Still, Sodom and Gomorrah did cross my mind with the New Orleans crisis. Not because I thought it was deserving of what happened, but it was kind of a wake-up call to recognize that New Orleans is every city.
Of course, people will argue and say it is delusional to think such a thing would happen in this century, but I have to say, it is probably ignorance to not relate what is now happening in the world to what is written in the Bible. No, that doesn't mean that I have gone all preachy or anything, but it does mean that my horizons are broadening and my eyes are opening. A part of me would still like to fight that side of myself who finds herself believing more and more of what is written, but that would be like pretending not to see a stop sign when it is two feet in front of me.
