| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | What do you think of them as a couple? When and/or how will they finally get together? Is it true love? What role will Viktor play in Book 7? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Pippin | | I agree. Ron and Hermione will end up together in book 7, even if it's not permanent. They may break up and stay close friends or they may stay together, but either way they will be a couple in book 7. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | Hmm. I think that Ron and Hermione will end up together, but it will not be a permanent match. I think when JKR gives us a glimpse of the future, we will see that they decided to be just friends. | | Reply To this Message

Hm. I disagree, Sherry. See, Rowling has been building up the Ron/Hermione relationship for 6 books so it would be anti-climatic for their subplot if they decided to just be friends.
Rowling's romantic subplots are heavily influenced by the writing of Jane Austen, particularly Pride & Prejudice, Emma, and Sense & Sensibility. She's also said that the book that's most influenced her HP writing is The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge. All four of these books end in multiple happy weddings after a long and angsty struggle to get there. I see the same thing happening in the final installment of HP.
If Harry marries Ginny and Ron marries Hermione, the trio will all become family, and Harry will finally have the family that he's always wanted.
