| To answer Beaver: Well, I've been doing magic since the 1960s, so I would advise you, first of all, to NOT do Card-tricks. Why? Well, because they are too commonplace and everybody knows how to do a card-trick or two. Secondly, because when most people do card-tricks, they begin the trick by saying "Pick a card" which ANNOYS most people because the "Pick a card" routine is the most cliche routine of all. I'm sure you don't want to ANNOY anybody. So what I would recommend is that you do tricks with objects that are NOT cards. For example, ROPE tricks are excellent. And because you are a beginner, get the book SELF-WORKING ROPE TRICKS, written by Karl Fulves. Those ROPE tricks are so easy to do, but are very astonishing. Later on, when you want to develop your manual skills, you can learn the Cut-and-Restored Rope by getting the book ABBOTT'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ROPE TRICKS, compiled by Stewart James. But for the time being, get the Karl Fulves book. And ALL you need is just a piece of rope! | |
