| Ok, this is what I've found so far that have any real signifigance to the series. I'm only about half way through CoS, but as I find more, I'll post them here.
- In the SS/PS we see that Harry can talk to snakes when he's in the reptile house at the zoo. We didn't think that this had any relevance until CoS.
- In CoS (and I'm going to give page numbers from the U.S. paperback version so you can look them up if you want to) Harry makes a mistake his first time using Floo powder and doesn't end up in Diagon Alley, but Knockturn Alley. While there he hears Draco talking to his father about that Hand of Glory (pgs. 51-52, bottom of the page to the top). After the discussion with Lucius, Draco moves to the cabinet *wink, wink* that Harry is hiding in, and stops to look at an opal necklace that proudly boasts "Caution: Do Not Touch. Cursed - has claimed the lives of Nineteen Muggle Owners to date." (pg. 52, last bit at the bottom of the page). It's obviously the same necklace that is used to curse, and almost kill, Katie Bell in HBP.
- In CoS, Harry, Hermione, and Ron where at Hagrid's after Ron's spell on Malfoy backfired. They were discussing Lockheart and Hermione made the argument in defense of him saying that if Dumbledore thought he was the best man for the job, then Harry and Ron should respect him. Hagrid speaks up at this time and says, "He was the on'y man for the job. An' I mean on'y one. Gettin' very difficult ter find anyone fer the DarkArts job. People aren't too keen ter take it on, see. They're startin' ter think it's jinxed. No one's lasted fer a while now." (pg. 115, second whole paragraph down) We of course learn in HBP that Dumbleodre believes that Voldemort put a curse on that job when he wasn't allowed to fill the position. (pg. 446, last paragraph, HBP, U.S. version)
- In CoS after Harry has returned from a cold and long Quidditch practice, he's standing in the hallway talking to Nearly Headless Nick about his Deathday party when he gets in trouble with Filch for dripping mud all over the floor. Filch and Harry head off to his offce for Filch to write out Harry's punishment when they're interrupted by Peeves making a racket on the floor above them. Filch runs off to take care of Peeves and when he returns he makes mention of what Peeves had been doing. He says to Harry, "That vanishing cabinet was extremely vaulable!" (pg. 128, third paragraph) And then on the next page (second paragraph down) Harry is able to "see the wreckage of a large black-and-gold cabinet" Of course, we know that Draco used the vanishing cabinet that Montegue got stuck in (in OotP) to let the Death Eaters in to the school. But before he could use them, he had to fix one of them.
That's all I have for right now. Like I said earlier on in the post, when I find more, I'll post them.
Cheers!
