I voted for Scarecrow, Juggernaut, Clayface and Galactus.

Clayface scared the tar out of me when I was a kid, something about his face asorbing the punch and all that...dripping stuff.

Uhhhgggghhh!

Scarecrow scared me too as well as Juggernaut.

Galactus is the Surfer's creator/nemisis, so I had to pick him.

If I forgot anyone major, I will add it to the poll.

Magneto. Mr. Sinister.

However, you missed out on Apocalypse and ONSLAUGHT.

Those would be my four choices.

quote:
Jonathan Crane was interested in the study of human fears and phobias ever since he was a child. Nicknamed the "Scarecrow" as a teenager, Crane was bullied and chastised for his scrawny appearance. The boys would call him Icabod Crane, for his resemblance to the fictional character. Crane loved the character, except when he came upon the part when Icabod is disgraced by his nemesis. He was outraged by the fear that overwhelmed Icabod and swore to never expose his fears to a bully.

Crane was a Professor of Psychology at Gotham State University until his experiments in fear became too dangerous. He lost his job due to his obsession with inspiring terror in his patients and students. Crane turned to a life of evil and used various drugs, chemicals, devices, and his expertise in psychology to terrify whomever crossed his path. He took the name "Scarecrow" which the bullies gave him as a boy, and would use it to become one of the most feared criminals in Gotham.

The Scarecrow has been known to pollute Gotham's water supply with his fear toxins, infect professional athletes with his chemicals, then bet against their teams for the money to fund his evil experiments. He even had one of his henchmen spray Batman with his toxin, in the hope of driving him mad with fear. A sick and twisted man, his ultimate goal of crippling Gotham State University was foiled by Batman. He was sentenced to Arkham Asylum where he became even more dangerous by gaining criminal contacts with the likes the Mad Hatter, who also shares a sick interest in various types of mind control. These contacts would aid him in his quest to bring Gotham and Batman to it's knees with fear.

quote:
Matt Hagen was a well-known movie actor. Badly disfigured in an automobile accident, he was rushed to the Gotham burn clinic. At the clinic Hagen was approached by Roland Daggett, a crooked businessman looking for test subjects for his "miracle product" RenuYou. Daggett promised the product could restore Hagen's features within minutes as compared to the years of plastic surgery he would have to endure. The only problem was that this drug was not FDA approved and highly addictive. In exchange for the product, Daggett forced Hagen to commit crimes. When Hagen finally refused to do any more of Daggett's dirty work, the supply of RenuYou was cut off. Crazed for the drug, Hagan broke into the Renu You plant where he Daggett's henchmen poured gallons of the untested toxic chemical down Hagen's throat.

Instead of dying from an overdose, the chemical soaked every cell in Hagen's body, transforming him into a hideous man of clay. An enraged Hagen vowed to destroy Roland Daggett. What Hagen did not realize was that his new cellular structure allowed him to change his shape and appearance. He could form anything he wanted just by thinking it. As a living shapeshifter, he became the evil Clayface. As one of Batman's most bizarre and difficult criminals to handle, it takes great measures to apprehend Clayface. When caught, he was deemed insane and a special suit was designed to hold him in Arkham Asylum

quote:
Harleen Quinzelle was a brilliant and successful criminal psychiatrist. After encountering the criminal mastermind, The Joker, at Arkham Asylum, Harleen develops a fascination with the madman's maniacal psyche. She begins to treat him, only to find herself completely under The Joker's control. Unable to break his hold on her, Harley enters a world of crime as The Joker's criminal accomplice and lover, Harley Quinn.

Harley quickly becomes one of the Dark Knight's deadliest enemies, as she carries out The Joker's every evil whim. She develops a villainous friendship with Poison Ivy and the two become sisters-in-crime by virtue of their shared hatred for male domination in the criminal underworld.

Although her true personality has been subjugated by The Joker, beneath it all Harley remains a sweet lovable person. Upon her arrest, she is deemed mentally unbalanced and sent to Arkham Asylum - not as the brilliant doctor she once was, but as one of Gotham's criminally insane on the other side of the padded cell.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/Whidden/Whidden%202/JOKER.jpgJOKER

quote:
Next to nothing is known about Batman's greatest enemy, except that he operated as an enforcer/hitman for various crime bosses before becoming the "Clown Prince of Crime." The Joker first encountered Batman during a botched robbery at the Ace Chemical Factory. He escaped by leaping into a drainage vat of chemical waste, but later discovered the toxins bleached his skin chalk white, dyed his hair fluorescent green, and stretched his lips into a hideous, permanent red grin. It's not hard to understand why such a transformation snapped his already unstable mind. The Joker's methods are simple: gain pleasure in breaking every law and moral stature known to man. More importantly, he makes the crime funnier by playing a game of cat and mouse with Batman. Joker views every crime, infliction of pain, and murder as the ultimate joke -- mocking Batman. Joker's trademarks are his razor sharp playing cards and the laughing gas Smilex, a chemical that infects his victims with the same ghastly grin as his own. Extremely intelligent despite his lunacy, the Joker often accesses information within Gotham City that should only be available to government officials and the police. His only real motive is bringing Batman as close to the edge as possible. Joker strives to outdo Gotham's other villains as well, for if they have the honor of doing Batman in then he has no purpose. To The Joker Gotham is merely a stage on which he performs.

quote:
Dr.Victor Fries was one of Gothcorp's most brilliant scientists and cryogenic researchers, however he was unable to cure his wife Nora of a deadly disease. His research in cryogenics was eventually cut off by the bureaucrats at Gothcorp. His experiment to create a cryogenic freezing chamber to house his wife until a cure could be found was interrupted by Ferris Boyle, C.E.O. of Gothcorp, and his security guards. A fight ensued, accompanied by an explosion. In the explosion, Dr.Fries was smashed into his cryogenic freezing tanks. The accident soaked Dr. Fries's entire body with the freezing solution and rendered him unable to survive outside of a sub-zero environment. He vowed revenge on those who had wronged him. He was forced to create a vacuum tight suit which maintained his body temperature at 50 degrees below zero. The suit's cybernetic processor also tripled his strength. After building a laser-powered cold gun, Mr. Freeze was born.

Driven by hatred over the destruction of his life and maddened by his condition he pursues a life of crime and vengeance by destroying Ferris Boyle and crippling Gothcorp. His plans are stopped by Batman. Mr.Freeze becomes bent on destroying Batman since he blocked his mission for revenge. He is a quiet, but dangerous adversary. Mr.Freeze is an angry and saddened man, who is sentenced to Arkham Asylum when apprehended. A special cell is designed to maintain his need for a frozen environment. He is alone and his only motivation comes from his wife's music box, which he holds as his last piece of the happiness he once had. He is viewed as an loner by the rogues gallery, and generally does not hold alliances with any of the other inmates of Arkham. Batman knows he is a dangerous adversary, and that the traumas that have occurred in Mr.Freeze's life are scars which will never heal.

In keeping with his family's tradition of wealth, the Penguin lives a life of crime and evil, yet executes it with his own self proclaimed high society class and style. He commits crimes with the theme of the various birds he loves. Unlike most of the "Rogues Gallery," The Penguin is in control of his own actions and perfectly sane, creating a unique relationship with his arch enemy Batman. quote:
Edward Nygma was a computer and electronics genius who was fascinated with puzzles and riddles since childhood. Extremely intelligent and a bit odd., he would cheat at school and feel superior to his classmates. Nygma's obsession and love for committing crimes lead him to don the guise of "The Riddler." Edward's transformation allows him to lose all sense of reality. He becomes completely wrapped up in the evil and criminal behavior which is warping his mind. He needs to be the Riddler to truly express the real Edward Nygma, in turn completely separating himself from any normalcy he once had. The Riddler uses a vast array of computer and electronic gizmos in his arsenal, but is best known for the lethal use of his "?" cane. It is his trademark. When his plans are ultimately foiled by Batman, The Riddler's hatred turns to an obsession to outwit and ultimately destroy Batman. His hatred is fueled by the surprising intellect Batman posses, which leads to his solving of Edward's riddles. His twisted mind is only concerned with creating the ultimate riddle related crime, which Batman can never solve.

quote:
Once Gotham City's distinguished District Attorney, Harvey Dent was known as a true guardian of law and order. On the cusp of apprehending mob boss Rupert Thorne, Thorne learned of Dent's other side and knew if it was exploited it could ruin Dent's career. When a fight ensued between Dent and Thorne's men, a freak explosion destroyed the left side of Dent's body. The trauma was powerful enough to force his alternate personality to dominate, and left Harvey in a state where right and wrong no longer held any meaning.

He becomes Two Face. He feels as though this is the way he was meant to be, living in a world of chaos, without the order and justice he once upheld and believed in. His world revolves around chance, more importantly the flip of his coin. It is no ordinary coin as it is double sided, clean on one side, and covered by scars on the other. Every decision Two Face makes falls on the flip of his coin. It is judge, jury and executioner. When the "Good Heads" turns up Harvey is in control. When it's "Bad Heads" however Two Face shines and becomes more dominant than Harvey can ever be. Yet there always seems to be a piece of Harvey which is strong enough to linger within the mind of Two Face when he is committing his ungodly acts. However, Two Face is the dominant personality.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/Whidden/Whidden%202/ONSL.jpgONSLAUGHT

quote:
Onslaught was an immensely powerful and mysterious character that seemingly showed up out of nowhere and started a war against the majority of super heroes in the Marvel universe. It nearly exterminated them, had it not been for the intervention of Franklin Richards who sent them to a pocket dimension.

The character was enormous and had a uniform similar to that of Magneto. It was incalculably strong, extraordinarily intelligent, and had vast psionic and magnetic powers. One by one Earth's heroes fell, and the character still gave no hint of its origin or motive. Finally, Onslaught was revealed to be not even a human being at all, but a composite life form made up of part of Magneto's mind and part of Professor Xavier's mind.

It was revealed that in the past, right before Magneto's mind was erased by Professor Xavier, he implanted a part of his own mind into Xavier's subconscious that slowly grew and took root over the course of the next few years. It gained control of Xavier's repressed unconscious (the store house of all of Xavier's psionic powers) and then separated this part of Xavier's mind from Xavier himself, thus eventually creating an entirely new life form independent of Xavier. Onslaught was finally set free when Nate Grey accidentally ripped Xavier's astral form from his body.

After manifesting into a quasi-physical being, Onslaught set out to make his power supreme on Earth so that he could dominate the planet. To that end he set out to capture two of the most precocious wielders of psionic and reality warping powers: X-Man (Nate Grey), and Franklin Richards. He acquired the former from Mr. Sinister and he kidnapped the latter. He imprisoned the two in a citadel he created in New York City in order to harness their powers.

Eventually, it shed its armor to become a being of pure psionic energy. Only after numerous Marvel heroes sacrificed their lives was Onslaught able to be defeated, and his ultimate destruction led to the creation of an alternate Heroes Reborn universe.

It took the combined powers of the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, The Incredible Hulk and Doctor Doom to defeat Onslaught, but all of the non-mutant heroes present were apparently killed in the process, save for the Hulk, who was somehow split physically between Bruce Banner and the Hulk, with Banner apparently dying alongside the heroes. The only mutant to be "killed" was the Scarlet Witch who was apparently able to sacrifice herself due to her reality altering powers. It was later revealed that Franklin Richards had placed those who had "died" in a pocket universe, from which they eventually returned

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/Whidden/Whidden%202/APOC.jpgAPOCALYPSE

quote:
Apocalypse was born in the mid-30th century BC in ancient Egypt during the First Dynasty.

He was born disfigured in the settlement of Akkaba and abandoned in the desert to die. He was the last child born in the settlement. Nomadic raiders known as the Sandstormers slaughtered the population of Akkaba. Their leader Baal found the child and considered it to have the potential of a god. He raised the child as his own.

He named the child En Sabah Nur (the First One) in anticipation of others like him born. The tribe lived and died by the simple rule and philosophy of survival of the fittest. En Sabah Nur earned the right to adulthood at the age of seventeen. He and Baal were the only Sandstormers fit to survive when general Ozymandias attacked their camp. They found refuge in nearby caves, but Baal was killed when one of the caves collapsed. En Sabah Nur made his way to the surface only to be made a slave .

There, he came into the attentions of the Pharaoh Rama-Tut, actually the time traveller who later became known as Kang the Conqueror. En Sabah Nur was beaten for daring to rebel and was left to die; he survived, due to the sudden emergence of his mutant gift of immortality, and came to a position of power once Rama-Tut had been forced to depart for his native time by the time-travelling Fantastic Four and Avengers.

Centuries later, En Sabah Nur discovered a starship created by the alien Celestials in Mongolia, and used the technology therein to gain control over the molecules of his body. Becoming one of the most powerful mutants who has ever lived, he took the name "Apocalypse", and came to believe in a philosophy that would later be erroneously identified with Darwinism. He then entered a state of suspended animation until mutants like him were populous enough to rule the Earth. He emerged briefly in Victorian England to see if the world was ready for him. During that time he turned Nathaniel Essex into the being known as Mister Sinister. However, Sinister rebelled against him and Apocalypse was forced to re-enter his slumber.

Modern Day

Cover to X-Factor #25. Art by Walter Simonson.Upon re-awakening in full, Apocalypse came into conflict with the original X-Men (then organized as the superhero team X-Factor) on repeated occasions. When one of their number, the Angel, lost his wings, Apocalypse granted him an artificial pair in exchange for his servitude; Angel accepted, becoming Apocalypse's Angel of Death, but eventually he rebelled. Later, Apocalypse infected Cyclops's son Nathan with a "techno-organic virus" derived from the alien technology that gave him his powers; as a result, Nathan was sent to the future for a cure, where he became the time-travelling superhero known as Cable.

Apocalypse again came into conflict with the X-Men, X-Factor and X-Force when Cable's clone, Stryfe, travelled to the present and attempted to assassinate Professor X and frame Cable for the crime. At the end of this conflict, Apocalypse was presumed deceased after a battle on the Moon with his former servants, the Dark Riders, and being left for dead by Archangel.

How he survived, and returned to Earth is unclear - it is most likely that this was the point at which he began to use host bodies within a robot resembling his prior self, as his future self had done in Cable's time, and it would be revealed that the present-day Apocalypse now did in the Twelve storyline. It is unlikely that he began to use host bodies earlier, as he was shown to be fully organic before he "died" in this story.

He returned, and briefly assisted Cable and his allies in battle with the creature called Onslaught.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/Whidden/Whidden%202/SANDMAN.jpgSANDMAN

quote:
The Sandman (William Baker, alias Flint Marko) is a comic book supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe, and an enemy of Spider-Man. He was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #4 (1963).

The Sandman has the ability to transform into a malleable sand-like substance which can be hardened, dispersed, or shaped according to his will. He possesses vast superhuman strength several times in excess of Spider-Man's. This ability came from an incident of accidental radiation bombardment on an atomic bomb testing beach, the result of which was that Marko's molecules merged with that of the sand under him.

In addition his many crime sprees, Sandman has served as a founding member of the Frightful Four which often tangled with the Fantastic Four, and of the Sinister Six which frequently battled Spider-Man.

At one point, after a humiliating experience of temporarily becoming a monster after he merged with Hydro-Man, he reformed, thanks in part to the support of the Thing, and became a member of the Avengers, and later a mercenary in the employ of Silver Sable. He later reverted to his villainous ways, claiming to have been faking his heroic career, although it was revealed that the Wizard had used his mind-controlling "Id Machine" to force him to act as a villain.

Later, Sandman joined an incarnation of the Sinister Six, working with Venom. It was in this incarnation that Venom bit the Sandman, poisoning him, making his body crumble. He blamed Spider-Man in the beginning but he then asked him to deliver a message to his mother. The Sandman crumbled to pieces and seemingly died, dispersing down a sewer drain.

However, Marko was in actuality not dead. His sandy remains eventually became spread out over Jones Beach, New York, with his mind and personality scattered. The beach Sandman had now merged with and taken control over began to mindlessly swallow up people into the sand, in an unconcious attempt to slowly piece himself back together. Spider-Man tried to free the captured people from the Sandman's consciousness, only succeeding when Marko exploded from containing too many clashing mindsets. Relatively soon afterward, the sand that Sandman's body was composed of spread to different areas around New York, and all of the different aspects and personalites of Sandman's shattered mind formed into their own individual beings - Marko's good side, evil side, feminine side and childlike, infant side were all separated to different parts of the city. After they were all finally merged back together into one again, the standard evil side of his personality once again became the dominant one, and the criminal named the Sandman is once again at large.

Currently, the Sandman is rumoured to be a villain in the upcoming film Spider-Man 3.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/Whidden/Whidden%202/VENOM.jpgVENOM

quote:
While embroiled in a major crossover storyline fighting the Secret Wars on an alien planet, Spider-Man acquired an alien costume. It responded to his thoughts, was able to mimic street clothes and seemed to provide an inexhaustible supply of webbing. Unfortunately, once on Earth, Spider-Man learned that the costume was in fact a sentient symbiote, that desired to fuse permanently with Spider-Man, and which enveloped him at night as he slept, using his unconscious body to go out and fight crime. With the aid of Mister Fantastic, Spider-Man managed to have the costume removed. The costume made one more attempt to bond itself to Spider-Man but was forcibly rejected. Weakened by the rejection, the costume slithered away, presumably to die.

Meanwhile, reporter Eddie Brock had been penning a number of articles in The Daily Globe on the recent Sin-Eater case, a storyline that ran in Amazing Spider-Man’s sister title, The Spectacular Spider-Man. Following a false lead, he proceeded to write a series of columns identifying Emil Gregg as the perpetrator of the crimes. When Spider-Man caught the real criminal, policeman Stan Carter, Emil Gregg was discovered to be a compulsive confessor. The Globe became a laughingstock, and it fired Brock, who was shunned by his peers, and forced to write venomous celebrity exposes and alien abduction drivel for the scandal rags. Brock took up weight lifting in the hopes of reducing his stress, but was unsuccessful in alleviating his obsessive hatred of Spider-Man. Planning to kill himself, Eddie went to a church to apologize to God for not being strong enough to handle life. In that church, Eddie was found by the alien costume, which bonded itself to the failed reporter. The process left both, already emotionally unstable individuals, permanently damaged. Adopting the name Venom in reference to the tawdry stories he was forced to write after falling from grace as a reporter, the new symbiotic pair decided to take their revenge on Spider-Man.

It is interesting to note that this 'origin' story has been in some ways retconned in order to add depth to the characters involved. It is revealed that Eddie was diagnosed with cancer before the Sin-Eater case, and was told he had little more than 3 months to live. It is this, not the Sin-Eater situation, which finally drove to Eddie to decide to kill himself.

The symbiote's motivations were also changed. It was originally implied that the symbiote sought Eddie because they both had a hatred of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but the revised canon is that the form of cancer Eddie had had come with an enhanced production of adrenaline - exactly what the symbiote feeds off of.

Venom is jet black with a large symbol of a white black widow spider on his chest. He has a gaping mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth, a long, lolling tongue, and is often depicted with drooling a green slime-like substance. He is stronger then Spider-man and his webbing, which the symbiote generates from the mass of its own body, is more durable than Spider-Man's mechanically-generated webs. The symbiote's shapeshifting ability allows Venom to camouflage himself like a chameleon or to assume the likeness of nearly any person. Venom also has the ability to remain undetected by Spider-Man's spider-sense, making him one of Spider-Man's deadliest foes. However, the symbiote is highly vulnerable to fire and high-frequency sound.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/Whidden/Whidden%202/SINESTRO.jpgSINESTRO

quote:
Beginnings
A native of the planet Korugar, Sinestro was initially considered to be one of the greatest Green Lanterns, but as the years passed, he became more and more fixated not simply on protecting the magenta-skinned Korugarians, but on preserving order in their society. Eventually he concluded that the best way to accomplish this was to conquer them, and to rule the planet as a dictator.

When Hal Jordan joined the Corps, Sinestro was assigned to be his instructor; during his absence, the Korugarians rebelled. When Jordan saw this, he reported Sinestro to the Guardians; consequently, Sinestro was arrested, and his Green Lantern Ring was given to Katma Tui, the leader of the rebellion. It should be noted that this is a retcon; Sinestro's first published appearance was as a criminal (this of course, was pre-Crisis).

Downfall
The Guardians put Sinestro on trial and, as punishment, banished him into the "anti-matter universe" of Qward (note that the DC Comics concept of antimatter does not coincide with that used by physicists). However, in Qward Sinestro found allies in the Weaponers, a group of warriors that wanted to invade our universe. To that end they created a yellow power ring for him to use. This gave him an advantage against Green Lanterns, since their power rings cannot affect anything yellow (ironically, the yellow ring drew its power directly from whatever green rings were used against it). Despite this, skilled Green Lanterns like Jordan always found ways to defeat him.

At one point, Sinestro was caught and put on trial again by the Corps after the Guardians had left their universe. Finding him guilty of several murders, they condemned him to death and executed him, not realizing this activated a failsafe system within the Central Power Battery on Oa that caused it to be destroyed should ever a Korugarian male be killed by a Guardian or their agents, a measure taken by the Guardians after their mates, the Zamarons, left them to live with Korugarians. Ironically, Sinestro's death thus achieved what he had long sought... the destruction of the Corps.

Revenge
Eventually, however, the Corps were reestablished, only to be attacked by Jordan himself after he was driven mad by the destruction of his home city. Sinestro, apparently revived by the Guardians, was sent to stop him, only to be "killed" again in battle. Again, his death led to the destruction of the Corps, but this time at Jordan's hands. However once again this turned out to be a charade. Sinestro was not killed. Hal Jordan destroyed not Sinestro but a construct created by a new Sinestro ally, the fear elemental known as Parallax. Sinestro, discovering Parallax imprisoned in the Main Battery, collaborated with his fellow prisoner to influence and manipulate Jordan into freeing them both. With that achieved they framed Jordan for Sinestro's death.

Rebirth
Sinestro eventually revealed the charade, battled the now influence-free Jordan but failed to overcome him. In the course of the battle he was drawn into the anti-matter universe and is expected to strike again in the future.

Does it have to be a Marvel character to be classed as the best comic villian/villainess?

The lame Rainbow guy was a DC character.

And the villian can be from any comic brand. I think SD is partial to the Marvel universe.

Yep, I love the Marvel Universe. DC is okay too, but I lean more towards Marvel.

Same here. Not sure why. I just always liked Marvel characters better for some reason.

Favorite hero will always be Captain America. If I were him, I would look something like this...

Man. I kept looking for the joke on Rainbow Raider and finally saw it was the real deal.

Some comic writer was drunk when he come up with that crap.

I added RR, and I put in Thanos, which I totally forgot about, and who is my favorite bad guy, can't believe I left him out.

http://www.inreview.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=597751 THANOS

quote:
Born on Saturn's moon Titan, Thanos is a mutant with purple-grey, hide-like skin and a massive body. He eventually became the most powerful of the Eternals through bionic implants and spending long hours meditating that augmented his strength and powers. As his powers grew, so did his ambition, and he was eventually exiled from Titan.

Thanos, since childhood obsessed with the occult and specifically death, eventually became the companion of Death, whom he loves, appearing to him in female form. It is thought that Death is attracted to his philosophical dedication to nihilism as well as his willingness to commit genocide on even his own people. An attack by Thanos on The Titan Eternals resulted in many deaths, including the murder of his mother.

However, after he obtained and lost the Infinity Gauntlet, he was led to a period of introspection. Adam Warlock recognized that Thanos' efforts to obtain omnipotence had been thwarted not only by the intervention of superheroes but by Thanos' own self-doubt and anxiety. Believing the Titan to be capable of change -— and wishing to keep Thanos where he could keep an eye on him -— Warlock made Thanos a member of the Infinity Watch, giving him the Reality Gem, one of the Infinity Gems which Warlock and the Watch guarded.

Ultimately, the Watch was disbanded, and Thanos returned to villainy, albeit half-heartedly. He later claimed that these subsequent appearances were all half-formed clones. After destroying and recreating the universe twice, Thanos apparently gave up his quest for power, though just how long he will refrain from acts of evil is unknown.

Powers and abilities
Thanos possesses incalculable superhuman power. By far the most powerful of the Titanian Eternals, Thanos is a mutant whose massive heavy-hided body was born with the capacity to synthesize cosmic energy for certain personal uses. (This is a trait that Thanos shares with his father Alars and the Earth-born Eternals but not with Titan-born Eternals). Through still further unknown bionic amplification, Thanos increased his physical strength and resilience to levels possibly rivalling or surpassing even the strongest of the Earth Eternals (Gilgamesh, now deceased).

Thanos has engaged both Thor, Asgardian God of Thunder, and the Thing, star member of the Fantastic Four, in simultaneous combat and fought them to a standstill. This indicates that Thanos' strength is at least into the Class 100 range, being able to routinely lift well in excess of 100 tons.

Through meditation and certain mystical techniques, Thanos augmented his power in still other ways, enabling him to tap, transform, and direct vast quantities of cosmic energy for destructive force. Deadliest of all of Thanos's attributes, perhaps, was his mind, whose superhuman level of intellect was totally dedicated to the annihilation of life. Thanos has also demonstrated psionic abilities, including telepathy, the limits of which remain unknown.

Quotations

"I am now omnipotent. What should I do with such almighty power? The answer to that is really quite simple: Anything I want. Anything. I am incapable of error. Any result that displeases me I can simply reverse. There is nothing I need to worry on, for I am Thanos. And Thanos is supreme. Supreme."

"Am I not Thanos! Did I not butcher the woman who gave me birth, who force-fed me into this hell called life. Is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?! Death is with me every second of the day! My every moment is spent in either dealing out death or worshipping it! So tell me, who under the stars is better suited than I to be Death's consort?"

"You address omnipotence. Tread carefully."

"Death, thunderer, is like love-making. It gets better each time."

Oh, Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet reminds me of The Mandarin, and the rings that he acquired from a crashed alien spaceship.

He's said to be Iron Man's most intelligent and enduring enemy.

The Mandarin's father was one of the wealthiest men in pre-revolutionary mainland China (who claimed to be a direct descendant of Genghis Khan), and his mother was an English noblewoman. Both died soon after their son's birth, and he was raised by his father's sister, who was embittered against the world and raised him with much the same attitude. He displayed scientific aptitude at an early age and used his inheritance for education in various sciences in China and abroad. As an adult he became a high government official, or mandarin, and became renowned throughout China for his administrative brilliance.

However, with the success of mainland China's Communist revolution, the Mandarin was deprived of his position, his palace and his wealth. Hoping to find a means of restoring himself to a position of power, the Mandarin explored the forbidding "Valley of Spirits," where no one had dared set foot for centuries. There he found the skeleton and starship of Axonn-Karr, an intelligent dragon-like alien from the planet Maklu-4, who had come to Earth centuries ago and died. Over the following years, the Mandarin studied Makluan science until he had mastered it. He also learned how to use the ten rings he found within the starship which were apparently its propulsion source, among other things. The Mandarin then subjugated the villages around the Valley, and, through his super-science, rapidly became a power that not even the Chinese Army could successfully challenge. He then embarked on a long series of attempts to achieve world domination.

The Mandarin saw technology as the surest means to achieve his goals. Over the years, he would frequently attempt to turn various nations' weapons against them. Among the Mandarin's earliest schemes was the sabotage and theft of American missiles and spy planes built by Anthony Stark. To restore public confidence in his workmanship, Stark donned his Iron Man armor and flew to China to investigate. Iron Man soon became the Mandarin's principal obstacle against his plans for world domination. On three occasions in their early confrontations, the Mandarin managed to take Iron Man (or his alter ego Tony Stark) captive, but the Mandarin failed to kill him. Similarly, Iron Man thwarted the Mandarin's various schemes, but was unable to bring him to justice. Some of the Mandarin's early technological achievements were the launching of a small orbiting satellite whose "death-ray" he aimed at Stark Industries and the building of Ultimo, a 30-foot android possessing vast destructive powers. The Mandarin would employ Ultimo four times over the years, but it was always defeated by Iron Man.

Cover to Incredible Hulk #107. Art by Marie Severin. The Mandarin's teleportation technology, derived from Makluan science, enabled him to kidnap people at will or teleport himself out of threatening situations. During his fifth encounter with Iron Man, the Mandarin teleported Harold "Happy" Hogan, a friend and confidant of Iron Man, to his castle in China half a world away, precipitating his fifth encounter with Iron Man. Hogan had been wearing the Iron Man armor at the time to help protect his employer's secret identity, and the Mandarin mistook him for his true foe. Rescuing Hogan, Iron Man physically bested the Mandarin in personal combat for the first time. Iron Man redirected the missiles that the Mandarin had launched at the Mandarin's castle, destroying it. The Mandarin escaped by means of his teleportational machinery, and he materialized aboard his orbiting satellite. There, he constructed a gemlike device capable of broadcasting "hate-rays" toward Earth. The Mandarin assembled several superhuman allies to perform certain missions for him as a new incarnation of the Masters of Evil: the Living Laser, the original Power Man, the Swordsman, the Enchantress, and the Executioner. The Avengers managed to thwart the Mandarin's scheme and destroyed his satellite.

The Mandarin then established a base in China's Gobi Desert and turned his attentions to the Hulk for a time, hoping to make the dull-witted brute an accomplice. Two attempts at controlling the Hulk proved futile, however, including one where the Mandarin allied himself with the American criminal the Sandman. The Hulk destroyed the Mandarin's desert base. When the Mandarin next attacked Iron Man, he employed an android in the Hulk's likeness rather than the real Hulk. The Mandarin set up a makeshift base of operations in America, and attempted to publicly discredit Anthony Stark. Holding Iron Man captive for the fourth time, the Mandarin tried to learn if Iron Man was actually Stark, but Stark fooled him with a rubber mask over his own features. His plans thwarted, the Mandarin tried to kill Stark's current girlfriend Janice Cord, but the Mandarin's betrothed Mei Ling saved her at the cost of her own life.

New bodies

Cover to Iron Man #58. Art by Rich Buckler.Returning to China, the Mandarin sought a means to increase his rings' power and learned of the legendary Eye of Yin, a talisman of power created by an ancient group of Chinese sorcerers. The Mandarin maneuvered the Royal Family of the Inhumans (who at the time lived in the nearby Himalayan Mountains of Tibet) into locating the idol for him. But before he could fully incorporate the Eye's power in his rings, Black Bolt, the ruler of the Inhumans, overpowered him, stripped him of his ten rings, and hid them. Unable to find the rings, the Mandarin journeyed back to the "Valley of Spirits" and the ruins of the Makluan starship wherein he first acquired the rings. There he found a headband containing technology which enabled him to recover the rings. The Mandarin used his newfound power to restore his castle to its original state. The Unicorn, another frequent opponent of Iron Man, sought the Mandarin's aid in curing him of a progressive disease. The Mandarin and the Unicorn traveled to America to attack their common enemy Iron Man, but in the heat of battle, the Mandarin found that the headband had somehow exchanged his consciousness with that of the Unicorn. The Mandarin was forced to flee, desperate to separate himself from the Unicorn's dying body.

When the Mandarin arrived at his castle in China, he found that it had been taken over by the Yellow Claw, another Oriental supervillain. The Mandarin was forced to find another laboratory to try to restore his mind back to its rightful body, which he managed with the unwilling aid of the Japanese mutant Sunfire. In battle with Iron Man again, the Mandarin's interim headquarters was destroyed. The Mandarin then launched an attack on the Yellow Claw in an attempt to regain his own castle, but was fatally injured when the Yellow Claw robot he had been battling exploded. As the Mandarin lay dying, he used the headband's mind-transferring capacities to transfer his consciousness into his ten rings. When the rings were confiscated by the Yellow Claw's power-hungry servant Loc Do, the Mandarin's consciousness entered Loc Do's body, permanently driving out Loc Do's. Using his matter-rearranger ring, the Mandarin transformed Loc Do's body into a younger duplicate of his original one.

The Mandarin returned to his castle, discovering that it had again been destroyed. After rebuilding it, the Mandarin attempted to capture Iron Man with his teleportation devices, but once again caught someone else clad in his armor. This time it was Michael O'Brien, later to become a friend of Stark's and first to wear the Guardsman armor. Iron Man flew to O'Brien's rescue, clad in an old set of armor, saved O'Brien, thwarted the Mandarin's attempt to bomb the United States and for a second time bested him in personal combat. Perhaps due to the effect of the Mandarin's mental domination ring on him, Iron Man did not take the Mandarin into custody, but allowed him to remain free.

The Mandarin later schemed to involve turning the Great Vibranium Mound of Wakanda into Type II Vibranium which destroys the molecular cohesion of metals. He also tried to destroy China's entire rice crop in an attempt to provoke war. In the second of these plots, the Mandarin encountered James Rhodes, during his custodianship of the Iron Man armor.

[edit]
Heart of darkness
When Stark tried to set up a branch of Stark Enterprises in Hong Kong, Iron Man and the Mandarin once again came into conflict. The Mandarin had taken the name of Zhang Tong, and had become a financial leader in Hong Kong. As Tong, he controlled a number of government officials and industry leaders of Hong Kong. The Mandarin thwarted all of Stark's attempts to set up a business branch, even resorting to murder. The Mandarin now employed a group of followers, called the Hand, to do his dirty work. When on a mission, a Hand member was allowed to take one of the Mandarin's rings and use its powers. If the Hand member was captured, he would fanatically try to kill himself. If the Hand member was killed or knocked out, the ring would automatically teleport back to the Mandarin.

Cover to Iron Man #312. Art by Bob Wiacek. At one point, the mutant heroine Psylocke passed through the mystic portal known as the Siege Perilous. The portal relocated her to an Asian shore, leaving her amnesiac. The man known as Matsu'o Tsurabaya found her and believed he could save his brain-dead lover Kwannon by switching her mind with Psylocke. He made an arrangement with the Mandarin to help him with the switch, whose rings would be able to cause the mindswitch. Working with the woman known as Spiral, they were able to switch the minds of the two women. Mandarin then put Psylocke (know in Kwannon's body) through conditioning, causing her to believe herself to be Lady Mandarin, the Mandarin's assassin. After doing several assignments for him, Psylocke was eventually rescued by her X-Men teammates Wolverine and Jubilee, and Psylocke defeated the Mandarin, causing events which led to Mandarin's leaving the Hand.

The Mandarin next discovered the Heart of Darkness, an orb of apparently mystic energy, which he used to turn back time in China. Iron Man, with his team Force Works and ally War Machine defeated him, but not before the Mandarin discovered that Tony Stark was the man inside the Iron Man armor. Iron Man infected Mandarin with a techno-organic virus, and the Heart, seeing him infected with technology, rejected the Mandarin and imploded. Iron Man believed him dead, but in reality the Mandarin was transported and transformed by the last flare of the orb's magic, turned into a janitor in the Hong Kong branch of Stark Enterprises.

Eventually, the Mandarin's memories returned to him and instead of trying to crush technology, Mandarin believed that the feudal system of yesterday had merely been transformed into the capitalism of today. Mandarin set into motion plans to create a giant flying fortress called the Dragon of Heaven through which he could conquer Russia and eventually the world. During this time, Iron Man reappeared after being believed dead in a battle against the psychic menace Onslaught. The Mandarin initiated a series of attacks on Iron Man, culminating in a battle with the Dragon of Heaven. Eventually it was revealed that the Mandarin's primary purpose was not to conquer Russia, but to test Iron Man, prove him worthy as a foe and to justify Mandarin's own thoughts on capitalism. The Mandarin apparently died as the Dragon of Heaven exploded, but Iron Man was less than convinced that his foe had truly met his end.

Temugin. Cover to Iron Man (volume 3) #53. Art by Michael Ryan.[edit]
Temugin
Nevertheless, the Mandarin has thus far yet to make a return into Iron Man's life. Instead, the Golden Avenger has been faced with Temugin, the son of the Mandarin. Temugin has precious few memories of his father and most of them involve his father taking him to the monastery where he was raised and trained by monks. Temugin is sensitive, spiritual and unbelievably powerful because of his control of chi, the living force in all things.

One day Temugin received a package containing the severed hands of the Mandarin, bearing all the rings of power. Temugin knew that he was honor bound to fulfill his father's wishes for him. He challenged Iron Man to avenge his father’s death, and he proved a deadly adversary even without the rings.

After Tony Stark revealed a conspiracy for mass murder in his own ranks, Temugin appeared to have forgiven Iron Man for the death of his father and to have turned to more lofty pursuits, but recent events indicate the power of the rings has corrupted his soul.

There is confusion existing around precisely how Temugin acquired his father's rings. Upon presenting him with his father's severed hands, Temugin's assistant claimed that they had discovered the Mandarin's hands in the wreckage of the Dragon of Heaven. This, however, does not make sense, because the Mandarin was not wearing his rings of power when the Dragon exploded - he was wielding his technological control rings. The original rings of power had not been seen since the Heart of Darkness affair, and where they vanished to, who recovered them and how have yet to be explained, either as the result of a mistake on the part of the writer, Mike Grell, or due to deciet within Temugin's organisation - something that his subordinates have shown they are not averse to.

[edit]
Powers and abilities
The Mandarin is one of Marvel Earth's greatest scientific geniuses. Not only has he made himself into an authority on Makluan science, but he has also built upon this knowledge by making further discoveries based upon it. Although the Mandarin has no natural superhuman powers of his own, he is a superb athlete with tremendous skill in the various Oriental martial arts. Through repeated practice he has toughened all the striking surfaces of his body, especially his hands, which are covered with thick callus. Without artificial aids he can split wood, cinderblock, or even mild steel with a blow of his hand. When he surrounds himself with a thin but intense protective force field, he can even split Iron Man's magnetic-beam reinforced alloy armor with repeated blows from his hands.

The principal personal weapons of the Mandarin are the ten rings which he wears on his fingers. The rings' operations cannot be explained by contemporary Earth science, but it is known that they served as near-limitless energy sources for the warpdrive engines of the starship of Axonn-Karr. The Mandarin learned how to convert the rings to his personal uses and to make them respond to his mental commands. The fingers on which he wears each ring, and the known functions for which he uses each ring, are given below.

Left Pinkie -- "Ice Blast," with which he could encase foes in bands of ice or create walls of ice to block pursuers.
Left Ring Finger -- "Mento-Intensifier," which amplifies the Mandarin's own mental energies and allows him to control the minds of others.
Left Middle Finger -- "Electro Blast," unleashing powerful lightning-like bolts.
Left Index Finger -- "Flame Blast," a flamethrower-like gout of flame.
Left Thumb -- "White Light," a laser-like beam.
Right Thumb -- "Matter Rearranger," which can rearrange the atoms and molecules of a substance. The Mandarin usually uses this ring to change the shape of objects, such as causing a giant stone hand to erupt out of the earth and grapple a foe. He has, however, used it to transmute the molecular composition of objects, such as changing the air around a target into a poisonous gas.
Right Index Finger -- "Impact Beam," a blast of concussive or gravitational force.
Right Middle Finger -- "Vortex Beam," with which the Mandarin can control air and wind, allowing him to fly.
Right Ring Finger -- "Disintegration Beam." Unlike the others, this Ring requires a twenty minute recharge time between firings.
Right Pinkie -- "Black Light," which can create areas of absolute blackness.
Over the years, the Mandarin has established a strong psionic link with his rings, which was made many times stronger during the period in which his mind/spirit actually inhabited them. One result is that no one who wears the rings other than the Mandarin himself can command them. The Mandarin can now command the rings even when they are separated from him by vast distances. He can mentally monitor events taking place near a ring that has been separated from him. Continued exposure to the alien rings made his hands green and scaly.

I don't know much about him, so I looked him up on Wikipedia.

quote:
Doctor Doom (real name Victor von Doom) is a Marvel Comics supervillain. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, he first appeared in Fantastic Four #5 (July 1962).

A brilliant scientist, Doom was once a friend and colleague of the Fantastic Four's Reed Richards. However, he became embittered by his jealousy of Richards and scars he received on his face from an experiment gone awry (he has since donned an iron mask).

Doom is considered the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four, but has also been added to the rogue galleries of the Avengers, the Silver Surfer, the Hulk, Iron Man and Spider-Man. He is one of the comic book industry's recognizable and archetypal supervillains and many of his characteristics - his dominance over a small nation, his use of scientific genius for evil and his eerie name - have been endlessly copied and parodied.

Victor was born to Werner von Doom, a noted Roma healer, and Cynthia von Doom, who was said to be a witch. His mother was killed when Victor was an infant. She had attempted to gain power to protect her gypsy tribe from persecution by the reigning authorities of Latveria. Unfortunately, she bargained with the demon Mephisto for power, and as is so often the case when dealing with demons, she was betrayed and killed. Later, Victor's father was hunted by the authorities for his failure to cure a Latverian baron's wife of terminal cancer. Werner von Doom died from exposure whilst fleeing and the young Victor von Doom was placed in the care of the remaining gypsy tribe. Victor vowed to make the entire world pay for the loss of his parents.

While a child, he discovered his mother's magical artifacts and von Doom began his studies into the occult as well as developing his innate scientific abilities. His astounding reputation came to the attention of the dean of science at State University in America, and von Doom was offered a full scholarship. At State, von Doom first met both Reed Richards and Ben Grimm, two men who would go on to become his enemies in later years as Mister Fantastic and the Thing, respectively. Richards, in particular, represented a substantial threat to Doom's self-perceived superiority. Doom began conducting hazardous extra-dimensional experiments.

The focus of Doom's research was to construct a trans-dimensional projection device with which he could communicate with his dead mother. There was a flaw in the design which Richards pointed out to him, but Doom's pride prevented him from accepting Richards' advice and fixing the device before testing it. The machine worked perfectly for two minutes and 37 seconds, in which time Doom discovered that his mother was trapped in Mephisto's Hell. Then the device exploded, permanently marring his right cheek with a long, jagged scar, a scar that his incredible vanity magnified into a hideous disfigurement. Refusing to acknowledge his own fault in the matter, Doom blamed Richards for the accident, finding it easier to believe that Richards had sabotaged his work out of jealousy than admit to his own imperfection.

Doom was expelled from school afterward, and traveled the world searching for a cure for his scarred face. In some versions the scarring was not particularly severe, but Doom was overly sensitive about it as a symbol of his failure. Eventually Doom discovered a village of Tibetan monks amongst whom he lived for a number of years. They assisted him in crafting a suit of body armor that concealed his "deformity," and in some versions of the story (small-scar Doom), he seriously burned himself when he ordered the mask be put on while it was still red-hot. This suit would become his trademark, and thanks to his technological enhancements, it puts him on par in terms of personal power with most superheroes in the Marvel universe. After this, he returned to his homeland, overthrew the standing government, and crowned himself king. Ruling with an iron fist and an equally strong will, Doom began to redirect the small nation's resources to help him realize his goals.

Cover to Fantastic Four #247. Art by John Byrne.Doom was briefly deposed by Zorba, a prince from the royal family Doom had previously overthrown. Doom soon killed Zorba and reclaimed his throne, but in the process one of his loyal Latverian subjects was killed before his eyes. Doom adopted the fallen woman's son, Kristoff Vernard, and raised the boy as his heir. In addition, as Doom considers his genius and leadership to be priceless assets to the Earth, he used Kristoff as a fallback plan to be used in the unlikely event of his premature death. When Doom was indeed seemingly killed, his robots enacted this plan and copied Doom's knowledge and memories into young Kristoff's brain. For a time, Kristoff even believed himself to be Doom, but eventually realized the truth and submitted to the true Doom's rule. Ironically, Kristoff seems to be the half-brother of Doom's hated rival Reed Richards, though none of the three seem to be aware of this fact.

Although Von Doom has significant scientific knowledge and ability, he lacks an advanced university degree. Von Doom apparently likes the sound of "Doctor Doom"; as the absolute ruler of a country, he simply started calling himself that. It has been suggested that Doom granted himself an honorary doctorate from a Latverian university, though he has never formally obtained a doctorate and considers it a mere technicality.

In 2003, Doom realized he was unnecessarily limiting himself by focusing on technology, and only occasionally his magical birthright. He sold his childhood sweetheart's soul to a trio of demons in exchange for unlimited magical ability and new leather armour made of her skin. As a direct result of this storyline, Doom possessed Ben Grimm, forcing Richards to kill them both. Ben Grimm was later brought back from the dead, but Dr. Doom's whereabouts are unknown.

A Doombot built by Ultron to trick his "son," Victor Mancha recently appeared in Runaways, sporting his original metal armour.

[edit]
Goals

Cover to Heroes Reborn: Fantastic Four #5. Art by Jim Lee.Doctor Doom is driven by three principal objectives: the destruction of Reed Richards, world domination, and the liberation of his mother's soul from the demon Mephisto's realm. He has so far achieved two of these aims. With the help of Doctor Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts and Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, he wrested his mother's spirit from Mephisto's grasp; a vital step in this process turned out to be tricking his mother into renouncing her love for Victor, and though it was difficult for him he was able to make that necessary sacrifice.

He has also achieved world domination several times, but has relinquished it for a variety of reasons, including boredom. When the world's mightiest heroes returned from the alternate Earth to which they had been shunted following their confrontation with the sentient psionic being Onslaught, Doctor Doom remained behind and conquered that planet, which he dubbed "Planet Doom." He was by most accounts a very good ruler, leading this world into a period of unparalleled prosperity. He eventually abdicated as ruler of Planet Doom and returned to Earth, finding the task of world domination to be tedious once it had finally been achieved. In a short-lived series of comics set in the year 2099, Doctor Doom was transported to that time from some point in our current near future and upon seeing the decrepit state of Latveria he becomes the President of the United States in order to curb the power of the megacorporations based there that were oppressing his people. As a side effect he begins improving the quality of life in the United States as well, reinstituting democracy and an effective non-corrupt police force.

Despite repeated attempts through the years, Doom has been unable to defeat completely Mister Fantastic, although several of their encounters have resulted in temporary victories for Doom. In hand-to-hand battle, he has also been physically humiliated by the Thing and Doom has vowed to take revenge on both men. He has come close on several occasions; however, he has failed to permanently defeat either of them.

Doctor Doom's plans are fueled by his ego and his conviction that he is not only capable of world domination, but also worthy and deserving of it. While he is utterly heartless and places little value on the lives of others, he also follows a strict code of honor. Several times he has struck bargains with various characters in the Marvel Universe, and he has always upheld those bargains, honoring his word and following through with his promises to the letter. He is a cruel and ruthless dictator; yet while he rules his nation of Latveria with an iron hand and is willing to deliver swift and cruel punishments, he also treats his subjects fairly (as long as they acknowledge his absolute rule) and at times has even put himself at risk to protect his kingdom and subjects. This complexity has made him one of the more interesting characters in the Marvel Universe.

[edit]
Adversaries
Even though the Fantastic Four consider Doom to be "their" villain, Doom actually pops up all over the Marvel Universe, casually stomping on anyone who gets in his way. He has faced the Avengers and the X-Men numerous times. Individual heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Dazzler have become embroiled in his schemes. It's hard to avoid Doom if you have super-powers; he has even been able to steal the power of the Silver Surfer, Galactus and the Beyonder.

[edit]
Powers and abilities
Doom's most dangerous weapon is his genius-level intellect. He is easily one of the smartest men in the Marvel Universe, consistently beaten by Reed Richards largely due to his own arrogance and egocentrism. Doom has constructed hundreds of devices, including a working time machine (the first of its kind on Earth), devices which can imbue people with superpowers, and many types of robots. His most frequently-used robots are his "Doombots," exact mechanical replicas of the real Doctor Doom. They look like him, talk like him, and even act like him. Individually, Doombots have an advanced A.I. program that causes them to believe themselves really to be Doctor Doom. In order to prevent his duplicates from harming or out-performing him, Doctor Doom installs each Doombot with a dampener program that reduces all of its abilities when activated. This program is triggered whenever a Doombot enters Von Doom's presence or the presence of other Doombots. These imitation Dooms have been created to impersonate Doctor Doom when he either cannot be present or is unwilling to risk his own life (such as when confronting powerful foes). They are also, in a way, a plot device: often, if Doom is apparently defeated, acts out of character in a story, or even seems to die, "it was only a robot". Another common sight around Latveria are the purple-and-grey Warrior Robots, who resemble hulking humans in metallic armor and enforce Doom's laws.

Doom also possesses a good deal of sorcerous ability, able to fire blasts of mystical energy from his hands, create protective shields of magical energy, ensnare foes in bands of energy (the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak), and create portals to other planes of existence, such as Mephisto's hellish realm or the Dreamtime of the Australian Aborigines. Doom has also developed the ability to transfer psionically his consciousness into another nearby human being with whom he's made eye contact, a process which he learned from the alien Ovoids. However, Doom prefers his own body and only uses this transference power as a last resort.

Doom's armor.Dr. Doom's iron-clad face is instantly recognizable to most of the world's population, a fact attributable to his infamous, high-tech, nuclear powered, computer assisted battle suit. Doom's first (and truly "original") set of armor was magically forged at a hidden monastery in the high mountains of Tibet; since then, his dark plated armor has been enhanced and repaired by normal technological means. Although a skilled practitioner of the mystic arts, Victor von Doom more often relies upon his armor for most of his powers. The armor is fashioned of a high-strength titanium alloy. Built into the right wrist is a video communicator, which he can use to stay in contact with all his bases from any point on Earth. To deal with those insignificant fools who would dare to touch Doom, the armor is built to generate a massive electric shock on command. The armor is equipped with twin jetpacks mounted at the waist which permit flight, though some suits contain a back-mounted single jetpack. Concussive bolts of force can be fired from the gauntlets and faceplate of the armor, though the mask only generates force blasts when it is not being worn. The suit's best defense is the force field generated by the armor, which has a maximum radius of eight feet (and so can encompass others); Doom cannot attack without lowering his force field. Infrared scanners in the helmet allow the wearer to detect heat sources, permitting night vision and the ability to see invisible persons (unless they do not give off or can somehow mask their heat signature). The armor is self-supporting, equipped with internal stores & recycling systems for air, food, water, and energy, allowing the wearer to survive lengthy periods of exposure underwater or in outer space. Optical scanners in the helmet allow the helmet's eyepieces to be used as high-powered telescopes, and parabolic ear amplifiers fitted inside the helmet allow Doom to detect extremely faint sounds and unusual frequencies within the audible range for humans. A thermo-energizer allows the armor to absorb and store solar and heat energy, and use it to power the armor's other systems; this system can only be used while the force field is deactivated. In addition, Doom often carries a pistol (A "Broomhandle Mauser", at least in older stories) to dispose of weaker enemies whom he considers unworthy to kill with his armor's weaponry.

Being the leader of a sovereign nation, Doctor Doom enjoys the grace of diplomatic immunity while in America during the few times he is there for non-pernicious, political actions and diplomacy. He is even accompanied and escorted by Captain America himself.

Thanos has my vote. no one can out think, scheme, or damn near out power him. the only one on this list who has that power is Galactus, and maby Mephisto.

Mr. Sinister was cool, dude during Inferno.

Juggernaut was legit.
