I also loved this set-up. I think these final two books are going to serve as something of a two-part season finale, bringing all of the loose ends together with a plot so big that they had to end this one on a cliffhanger.

Yep. I wanted more more MORE! Godric's Hollow. Creepy stuff. Thinking that the kids won't go back to school is odd. I always imagined them finishing. I wonder if a Horcrux is at Godric's Hollow?

| Posted by: agent mike | | I know it's a little OT but I didn't want to set up another spoiler thread. It's just that I'm a bit hazy on the business involving Montague and the cabinet. They referenced it in HBP but I couldn't remember exactly what happened. Any clarification would be appreciated. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: flying panda | | Malfoy described it. Montague was stuck in limbo between the hogswart cabinet and the borgin and burkes one ... he eventually go out by aparation, which almost killed him. but while in there he could hear either side. Malfoy was the only person who apparently relised that he could us it to get people into the castle, which he figured out from Montague's story | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | So the vanishing cabinets worked as a kind of portal in the Room of Requirement. You could go from the cabinet in B&B into the one in the ROR. Think? I didn't know Draco could think?

| Posted by: flying panda | | I thought that minister was someone important to the book, his description was the one JK gave away behind her door after all. the fact that he looks like a lion has to be something | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: gaboman | | Yes, in the first chapter I really got a good impression of the minister, however further into the book he seemed as politically motivated as Fudge. He does seem a lot better, though. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: agent mike | | My favourite comedic moment was when Ron became the unsuspecting victim of the cupcakes spiked with love potion.
Ron- 'Who are you talking about?'
Harry- 'Who are you talking about?'
...classic.
Of course, it's easy to forget that moment of light heartedness with the drama of Ron's near-death experience that quickly follows (which I also thought was a well-written scene). | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: daemon17 | | yea that part made me " awwwwww" i liked the relationship dumbledore had with harry, more like friends than ever... and then snape.. if harry doesn't kill snape, im writing my own book.. in which to torture him. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Pippin | | Another part that made me go "awwwwww" was when Tonks and Lupin were talking about dating. How he said that she needed someone younger and whole, and how she said she wanted him. How sweet. | | Reply To this Message

|
| Posted by: Lawless | | WOW! I JUST finished the book this morning... and I'm still rather in shock that Dumbledore is REALLY dead. ALBUS DUMBLEDORE.... DEAD!!!!!!!!! And at the hands of Snape.
Anywho... I think that my absolute favorite part was at the funeral itself, when Harry told Ginny why he couldn't continue dating her, and then went walking around the lake, and pissed off the Minister of Magic, once again... and the conversation with Ron and Hermione. It's just a great place to end the book, though, keep you waiting, and wanting, more.
The entire book was filled with stuff that I enjoyed reading... like when Dumbledore and Harry went to the cave. I thoroughly enjoyed reading that... and just watching Harry's love, for Dumbledore, as he drank that potion. So very touching. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Pippin | | Oh, that part got me to cry a little bit. so brave of Harry to keep making Dumbledore drink | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Oliphaunt | | Dunno about the best part, but I agree that Tonks and Lupin getting together was brilliant!!!! So great, amid all the confusion and sadness of Dumbledore's death. And it kinda showed how much older the books are getting, you'd never have had a scene like that in the first few books. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: hazel_dragoneye | | I had a tear in my eye when I read the message to Lord Voldemort:

| Posted by: Maja88 | | Definitely the best part of the book is seeing everyone mature a little. The very end, with Harry, Ron and Hermione sitting by the beech tree is just... AWWWW! Our ickle little Harry is leaving Hogwarts and going away to live, and fight Voldemort... alone. OMG!! just when has it happened? when did he grow up???
What surprised me was the way JKR introduced romance into the book. The cliché Harry/Ginny & Hermione/Ron shippings, developed in a totally un-cheesy way... brilliant . that was also one of the funniest parts of the book.
And those parts about Voldemort's history were awesome. Loved them. This book is so much better than "The Order", thank god - I kind of thought that the books will tend to get longer and duller and less exciting as JKR's bank account grows... But of course, she saves the magic yet again :-)))
BTW - anyone remembers me in here? fuscia? kris? well, in any case - nice to see you again, guys | | Reply To this Message

I loved that bit, too - but who do you think might be this R.A.B. person? There are theories about Regulus (A.) Black, although from what we've heard from Sirius (:still sobbing it's not likely Regulus would be that clever and brave to get what Voldemort's doing and work against it.
Is there a special thread for this sort of theories?

| Posted by: Lawless | | Oh, how about when Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione are sitting in the common room, and Ginny is talking about all the girls asking her if it's true about the tattoo on Harry's chest. And then she says that she told 'em that Ron's got one too? That busted me up!!!! SOOOOOOO FUNNY! I love Ginny's wit.

Oh! Forgot this bit: Fred & George's jokes and tricks still rock And one of the nicer parts was also that scene near the end, at the hospital, when Fleur declared she's sticking with Bill. That totally knocked me off my seat, I'd never have expected that from her. I thought she'll run back to France the moment the troubles get serious. "I theenk I am pretty enough for both of us!" bittersweetly-.LoL: | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes, that was soooooo sweet. Thinking that she would be very self absorbed... well, she proved us all wrong. She truly DOES love Bill.
Fred and George are the best. I just wish that we had more of them... but, the story is taking on so much more of an intensity, with seriousness, I think that JKR is trying to keep it from being TOO full of humor. *shrugs* | | Reply To this Message

Really? because honestly I thought that this book had more humor than any of the others. I found myself laughing quite a bit.
I thought the book pulled a lot of emotions. One second I'd be laughing, the next I'd be all " awww" then I'd be nervous and excited, then laughing again and then of course eventually crying.

I completely agree with you. Even though HBP had even bigger deal of Voldemort's crimes in it, the book was somehow in a lighter mood than OoTP. It really is a better book, the way humour and tragedy are combined in it is fabulous. It's so full of optimism - Harry barely managing not to laugh at Dumbledore's funeral, despite all his grief, made me cry and feel relieved at the same time. As if Harry knows that things are bad, but they'll turn out ok...

| Posted by: bluejeanbaby | | My favorite part was probably the way the book ended. The funeral was incredible (but I felt like I actually needed to be there), the solidarity that was shown between Ron, Hermione and Harry was just beautiful. I could actually hear the Phoenix's lament over Dumbledore's death, and my heart broke just a little bit more. Harry realizing that his anger needed to be directed at Snape and not at Draco (who I love dearly) because of what he was witnessed to on top of the tower.
The whole thing, from the time that Harry and Dumbledore entered the cave to the last page just moved along so quickly and so well that it's really difficult to decide on a favorite part of it. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: bluejeanbaby | | Who knows what the half-blood prince is capable of? We didn't get to learn all that was in that book. maybe Snape knows a counter-curse to it or some type of protection he can use of he's able to read the person's mind before it's cast. | Posted by: fuscia | | I liked that Harry was able to feel pity for Draco. He understood that Draco was not a killer, and that he was trying to save his family. Many kids Harry's age would have just hated him for trying, but Harry gained wisdom in this book.
The funeral was just heartwrenching. Hagrid carrying the body up to the platform, Harry remembering all the wonderful things that made Dumbledore Dumbledore.
I do think that Snape will be in for a rough time if he meets Harry. Dumbledore's death gave Harry the power to perform the killing curse. He now hates with every fiber of his being those that took his family away. James, Lilly, Sirius the godfather, and Dumbledore who was his hero. | | Reply To this Message
