my friend and i were eating lunch and got to talking about a computer he was working on that had about 20 or 30 msconfig entries. he said he went through and unchecked most of them and then said he wished he knew a way to get rid of the "unchecked" lines. so i told him what i do to them and thought i would just put it in here for anyone that has lots of unused lines in their msconfig.
just open up regedit and go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg"
startup reg will be expandable and everything in there will be the unchecked lines inside msconfig. just delete them and they will be removed from msconfig "startup" tab.
so there. nothing major, just something for those neat freaks like me that like everything tidy.
Thanks, Larke. I really can make use of this. My computer needs a bit of tidying where the startup is concerned, and I never knew how to do it, and couldn't be bothered with finding a tutorial on the web for it.
I have a thread about my Linux adventures in the Gold Member Lounge. If I feel like it I will ask one of the big powerful and influential people to move it here.
