Is 50 the best out there right now?

Is hip-hop dominating rap now?

Who will be the next Tupac or Dr. Dre?

Are rappers just all making the move to acting?

OutKast deserve the title as being "best out there", in my opinion. They're probably the only rap act I've had respect for in the past.... oooh, almost 10 years...

That's the thing, I wouldn't even call Outkast 'rap'. They're more hip-hop now.

Yeah, I always lump rap and hip hop together in the same category.

I think you'll find that rapper and hip-hoppers and r&bers liek to keep themselves seperate from eachother. Black Eyed Peas won "Best RnB Group" at the Aussie MTV Awards and in their acceptance speech actually complained that they were hip-hop not RnB.

I think if you told 50 cent he was hip-hop and not rap, he'd have a few words to say. They are quite different.

But on topic: rap is nothing like it was back in the day. I blame Snow's "Informer" and Vannilla Ice - it made all the white kids want to rap and we watered it down too much, made it "pop-rap" and now real rap has died.

Yes, I blame schmiggens and her kind too.

I don't think 50 Cent has anything on 2pac. Can't stand him, really, his songs are light-weight and kind of predictable. With that being said, I don't really like 2pac's early stuff, but I can see why someone would think its good, and I still enjoy his All Eyez On Me album now and then.

Dre, I never liked. Snoop's Doggy Style album is still wicked though. And Regulate...The G Funk Era is still awesome

Though is G Funk a type of rap, or a type of hip hop

What about MC Hammer? Easy E was just goofy. Those guys made rap into pop, which paved the way for a guy like Vanilla Ice. There was really nothing special about Ice besides that he copied a bass line from a song and he was a white guy rapping. Nobdy thinks it's weird that Eminem is rapping and he's a healthy mixture of styles.
