I think he gave missles to Afghanistan as well, to help fight the Soviet Union, but I don't recall if that was on the record, or off the books.
At any rate, he did like to hand out the goodies, to help fight Iran and the Soviets,
central american guerrilas, etc.
I guess at the time, since Iran taking our people hostage was still very fresh in our minds, Iraq was our buddy, as long as they were giving Iran trouble.
From various news stories I'v read over the years, Reagan and Bush senior were NOT the best of friends,
which is sad, I liked them both, but oh well, that's politics.
Reagan had some flaws, but he was the first president that I was like, "Wow, I really dig this guy".
I neither hated nor liked Carter or Ford.
I do wonder how Ronnie would have fought the war on terror, who he would have attacked, when and why, etc etc.

Allies and enemies trade hats all the time, HECK. Any individual with just a nosehair of an inkling about history knows this. Germany and Japan were our enemies once—we bombed both of them to oblivion. Hell, our grey were cannon foder for our blue! History marches on. The change of regime in Iraq is a goooood thing. Say it after me: It's a gooooood thing… Again… That's it. Liberate yourself. Germany and the world is better without Hitler. Say it with me: Germany and the world is better without Hitler…

We gave them WMD but, nobody could find them?
First, it's Bush lied that they had WMD and then we you say we gave it to them.
Which is it? Did they have them or not? It seems nobody trusts or believes the administration unless it's convenient for their agenda.
Maybe the intel on what we gave them was a lie too and it never existed?
Geez, some people!
Ronny was a great human being. RIP. | | Reply To this Message

Irony? Do Bush supporters have memory problems or something? You may have forgotten but...
Hussein used WMD on the Iranians in the Iran Iraq war. He also used chemical WMD on the Kurds. Then after the '91 US invasion, he said he destroyed them all.
And Rice and Powel said just a few months before 9/11 that Hussein wasn't even a threat to his neighbours.
Geez, some peole indeed!

I think he was one of the best presidents of this century. FDR, too.
