My friend has a binary message on his myspace profile (I'm sure you've all figured out what myspace is by now) and he needs to figure out what it is... we have no idea if it's... inappropriate or not, but at least in it's binary form it's harmless, so anyone up to the challenge? I'd appreciate it! If it's naughty just PM me.

This is the direct translation from binary to ASCII:

Und im Ende, ist es nicht die Jahre in Ihrem Leben, die zählen. Es ist das Leben in Ihren Jahren.

Translating it further from German to English using Babelfish, we get:

And in the end, it is not the years in your life, which counts. It is the life in your years.

i'm a little disappointed, matt. i would've thought that your time in the matrix forum would have prepared you for this challenge.

Hahah I had no clue either. Matter of fact I'm kind of glad I don't know. That means I have not spent nearly as much time near the computer as some of you have. And that makes me proud http://9.forumer.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

You guys really think I am foolish enough to decode that binary by hand? I am not that geeky. I just used a binary translator.

But, IF you had to. Could you do it with pencil and paper?

AHAH! See I wouldn't even know where to begin.

I could do it, but would I do it? I don't think so, unless a great chunk of my grade or if my life depended on it.

I guess geekiness comes with being a CS.

to quote the old saying: "there are 10 kinds of people in the world. those who understand binary and those who don't."

which could be amended to include those who understand binary enough to know not to do anything with binary by hand in the 21st century.
