Muslim protesters today called for the bombing of New York in a demonstration outside the US embassy in London.

There were threats of "another 9/11" from militants angry at reports of the desecration of the Koran by US troops in Iraq.

Some among the crowd burned an effigy of Tony Blair on a crucifix and then set fire to a Union flag and a Stars and Stripes.

Led by a man on a megaphone, they chanted, "USA watch your back, Osama is coming back" and "Kill, kill USA, kill, kill George Bush". A small detail of police watched as they shouted: "Bomb, bomb New York" and "George Bush, you will pay, with your blood, with your head."

Demonstrators in Grosvenor Square, some with their faces covered with scarves, waved placards which included the message: "Desecrate today and see another 9/11 tomorrow."

The protest was organised by groups including the Muslim Council for Britain and the Muslim Parliamentary Association of the UK. Their protest follows fury in the Islamic world over the claims in a Newsweek magazine that US soldiers at Guantanamo Bay had abused the Koran.

The magazine later withdrew the article and apologised but not before it triggered riots in Afghanistan in which 17 people died and 100 people were injured.

Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Martin Mubanga told the crowd he had seen a copy of the Koran "desecrated" during his time at Camp Delta.

He said: "This was one of the methods they used, throwing the Koran, my Koran, on the floor in my cell."

One of the protesters called for the release of radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza. He shouted: "Your so-called democracy will fall under the sword of Allah. The day of judgment is coming."

The demonstration coincided with protests across the world. On the West Bank 2,500 Palestinians streamed out of mosques shouting "Death to America". In Calcutta, India, protesters burned, spat and urinated on the US flag. And in Somalia thousands chanted anti-US slogans.

You'd think that being 4 years into the "war on terrorism" (or whatever it's called now) Bin Laden would be less popular, but no, he's more popular than ever. And lets not forget that the world is still utterly divided. Who do we congratulate for this remarkable success story?

Now if we can just push that incompetence button a few more times, we could get a civil war going in Iraq. Wouldn't that be the cherry on the cake?

I've just heard on the news that Afghan leader, Hamid Karzai is furious to hear that two Afghan prisoners were beaten to death by American guards in Bagram air base prison recently. One of the prisoners was chained around the wrists and hung from the ceiling for 4 days.

I wonder if this will make the news bulitins in the US?

Like I said if we can push that incompetence button a few more times, we could get a civil war going in Iraq AND AFGHANISTAN. Wouldn't that be the cherry on the CHERRY on the cake?

Well, I guess it's pretty deserved, given the desecration of the Koran. Whether or not that is true, I don't know, but that ought to fan the flames a bit, huh?

The Koran is just a book of revelations from a psychotic man. It is not the gospel.

Being politically correct will lose us this battle. I say screw them and the media Why would anyone believe these guys anyway, they're prisoners and criminals. Most would slit your throat if they had the chance. Who the hell cares what they think, true or false?

I guess blowing up a mosque and killing Muslims is second to untrue reports designed to discredit America.
Islamic hatred for America will never stop. It is always looming just beneath the surface like a festering sore, just waiting to errupt into an infectious spreading virus. All you need is something to scratch the surface and up it pops.
What needs to happen is to dicredit Islam for the greedy blood thirsty cult that it is.

Military confirms five killed in Iraq plane crash

A military spokesman says four U.S. Air Force personnel and an Iraqi have been killed in a plane crash near Baghdad.

Lieutenant Colonel Fred Wellman says the Iraqi Air Force plane crashed around noon Monday in a province about 80 miles northeast of the capital.

Wellman says the crash investigation is ongoing. Investigators are not certain who was in control of the plane or why it crashed. However, strong winds buffeted the region Monday.
