| JANET JACKSON ACCUSED OF STEALING HIT
Pop star Janet Jackson has become the latest member of her family to face a court battle, after a man accused her of stealing a song from him. Michael Ortega, of Santa Cruz, Calif., claims the singer, her songwriters and Virgin Records stole his song for her Grammy-nominated 2001 hit "All for You."
Ortega claims Jackson's song was based on a tune he wrote in 1986, which he played for Jackson songwriters Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
He tells gossip Web site The Scoop, "It's taken a long time to get this to court. From what I gather (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) have a pattern of basically building collages of other people's work for their songwriting."
Ortega alleges copyright infringement and slander in the suit for which he has requested a jury trial.
Representatives for Jackson -- whose older brother Michael is currently battling child molestation charges -- have yet to comment.
