BRITNEY PULLS OUT OF NBC SPECIAL

Britney Spears has pulled out of a live performance on American TV because the NBC network aired a show about her life without asking permission.

The pop singer was due to perform on NBC's "Today Show" on November 21, but was left reeling following Sunday's "Dateline" broadcast of "Britney Spears: Unzipped," which traced her journey to pop stardom.

One insider tells the New York Daily News, "Her people just pulled out (of Today) on principle."

However, sources at rival New York website Page Six allege NBC deliberately aired "Unzipped" to "avenge network execs' sour feelings after Spears bailed on 'Dateline' to do one of Diane Sawyer's patented fluff-job interviews."

The Diane Sawyer "Primetime Thursday" interview airs tomorrow on ABC network.

Spears is lining up an alternative career in TV -- she's close to signing on as executive producer for an ABC movie based on a book she wrote with her mother.

The untitled project is scheduled to go into production in Toronto, Canada, early next year and is expected to be broadcast by the in April.

The movie will be based on the 2001 semi-autobiographical novel "A Mother's Gift" which was co-written with Britney's mum Lynne Spears, who is also on board as an executive producer.

It tells the story of an aspiring teenage singer who travels across America in search of success.

Britney Spears Comfortable In Her Skin

ABC: In an exclusive Primetime interview with ABCNEWS' Diane Sawyer, Spears is very candid about the tremendous pressure she is under to see In the Zone succeed, and how far she is willing to go to prove she's now the hottest woman in music.

While Spears, 21, admits her highly publicized too-sexy-for-some September performances — the scantily clad performance at the National Football League's kickoff concert and the famous Madonna kiss performance at the MTV Music Awards — raised at least a few eyebrows, she's happy with them.

Then, oops she did it again on Monday, when she stopped traffic in New York City's Times Square during a live performance outside MTV's studio. The young performer donned a half shirt and very low-cut trousers that showed off her shiny purple underwear.

Spears says the outfits she wears during performances simply reveal how comfortable she is with herself.

"I feel comfortable in my skin," Spears said. "I think it's an OK thing to express yourself, and be the way you want to be," Spears said. "I mean, I wouldn't walk into a club or a party like that. But I think, you know, I think it's fine."

"You know what, when I was younger, … I used to run around my house, naked, when I was 13," Spears said. "And people, my dad would be like, I was just very like, free."

Britney Fails To Get Ratings For ABC

Britney failed to ignite the ratings of Diane Sawyer's "Primetime."

Brit's tears and pseudo-confessions were third place in the ratings behind "ER" and "CSI."

Maybe she should have done the interview without a shirt!

BRITNEY SPEARS ADMITS MARIJUANA HIGH

Pop superstar Britney Spears has admitted to getting high on marijuana.

The 21-year-old singer confessed to talk show host Diane Sawyer she had "got high" off the drug -- but insists her career is too important to her to mess with hard drugs.

Britney said, "I have been around people and have got high off marijuana.

"That is enough for me. I can't do that. I don't do that. I never did cocaine. I have experimented in partying but not that. I could never do something like that.

"In this industry, there are people who are around you 24/7, so you have to learn who you hang around with."

According to WOB and Mike, ABC is in serious talks with Britney's people to get her on Diane Sawyer's show once again. They want it to be a follow-up of the interview that took place in 2003. Kevin, Bryan Spears and Britney's parents are all set to appear on the show.
