No-one really knows whether things would get better or worse in Iraq (and worse can only mean civil war) if troops went home, but if this website is real then this has to be the Bush government's worst nightmare. Political spinning against troops is not the easiest thing to do (remember that guy asking Rumsfeld for more armour) because the public are naturally behind them.

Anyone know anything about the Iraq Veterans against the War?

quote:
IVAW Statement on the Second Anniversary of the Iraq War Today marks the second anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq, a key milestone in the current U.S. Government’s campaign of lies and deceit common since 9/11. We were first told that there was a link between Iraq and the horrible 9/11 attacks. But there was none. Then we were told that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction; yet only a few old warheads and some dormant bacterial cultures have been found despite rigorous searching. Then finally, we were told that Saddam Hussein was training terrorists to attack the United States, but no terrorist presence seems to have existed in Iraq prior to the massive build-up in early 2003. Post-invasion Iraq, however, has clearly become a hotbed for new terrorist threats.

We, the veterans of the war, now know all of these reasons for invading the sovereign country of Iraq were false, and we have paid a heavy price for these lies....

Troops saying how they think invading and starting a war in Iraq was good is not really a problem for Bush.

Do you think these guys that think it was not so good have any cause to speak out? Do you think it's unreasonable of them to be annoyed that they were sent to Iraq because of the 9/11 attack, and then WMD, and then links to Al Qaeda, and then links to terrorism, and then because the "real" reason was to democratize the place? Don't you think these guys have a legitimate grievance?

Or is it that you think troops should stfu and do as they are told and live with the consequences of joining up, because no one forced them to join. That is a legitimate argument.
