This is what is going to come down to if the Supreme Court in Washington ignores this case today. President Bush will be forced to make an executive order and send U.S. Marshals to secure the Hospice and evacuate Terry Schiavo if necessary. Law is undermining Humanity.

The Republicans will pay if this lady dies.

The only people undermining humanity are those that seek to interject themselves in the middle of such a private matter as this. Simply put, honor Terri’s wishes. If you disagree with it that’s your business but certainly not your “right” to supercede hers to die with dignity.

Bush is the same president who speaks of the sanctity of marriage, yet he will not allow her husband to follow her wishes. HYPOCRITE! The President has no business interfering in this matter. Terri has had due process and then some. You do not push your power because it violates your sense of morality. You follow the law and respect the decision that the courts have made. As our commander in chief, he above all people should respect the way the law works in this country.

I read in an article today that President Bush has already stated that there will be no more intervention. If I can remember...he said something along the lines that they have no more legal obligation in this case.

As if they had any to being with?

Schiavo's condition, described as a persistent vegetative state, family members can be deceived by things like eye movements and reflexes, experts say.

"It creates this ironic combination of wakefulness without awareness," said Dr. James Bernat, a neurology professor at Dartmouth Medical School.

That's because in a persistent vegetative state, the brain centers that control wakefulness are functioning, but those that permit conscious awareness of oneself or the environment are damaged or destroyed.

As a result, patients close their eyes to sleep and open them when they wake up. If a doctor brushes the eyeball with a wisp of cotton, they may blink. If something gets caught in the throat, they will cough. There may be limited eye movements, though patients can't follow a person walking from one side of the room to another, for example.

Bernat, past chairman of the American Academy of Neurology's Ethics, Law and Humanities Committee, said outward signs of persistent vegetative state can give family members false hope.

"There's a normal tendency of family members to interpret (random) movements as evidence of awareness," said Bernat, who recalled seeing that happen with his own patients.

Next he will start having Homeland Security start keep tab of who are friends and who Carl Rove considers foe. We all have to support the Fuhror. No wonder we are NOT surprised to see this type of government seizure thinking - Bush brother Jeb will send in State Troopers to rescue Terry Schiavor, despite losing dozens of court rulings. Jeb has NO basis in Constitutinoal law.

The doctors that are monitoring Terri's condition in the hospice can administer drugs to prevent the feeling of pain from the dehydration and starvation process. Besides, doctors and nurses have been coming forward on the local talk radio stations here in Tampa explaining that after a few days of depravation of food and water, the body emits a natural euphoric feeling, not pain.

Personally I think if she has been conscience all these years she'd be in more pain knowing she cannot move, communicate or function. A person would certainly lose their mind after only a few years. I submit she suffers more by being kept in this manner for all these years.

As for the topic of this thread, it's simply assinine to demand that the government send in troops to interfere with a personal and family issue. Terri is not hiding any WMD under her pillow, she's not committing mass genocide, the government needs to stay the hell out of it.

Terri's dad has already accused the doctor's of trying to do this. It will never fly among those who seem to know what Terri wanted better than her husband did.

However, euthanasia is not an option in this country. Ultimately all those screaming she didn’t get due process will compare Terri to a rabid dog at the Vet.
