Pop Queen wants ex-lover on tour
SHE'S one of our top-selling pop stars, with more than 30million record sales and a massive fanbase.
He's a former cocaine addict whose last single reached the dizzy heights of No.43 in the charts.
But Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan could soon be sharing a stage once again - as the pop pixie is planning to invite her former lover to join her on next year's Showgirl world tour, which kicks off in March.
Impeccable sources in the Kylie camp tell us: "Kylie is going all out to make sure her greatest hits tour will be talked about for years.
"She knows that her duet with Jason - Especially For You - propelled her into the big time and she'd like to perform it with him again."
Kylie and Jason, both 36, became the golden couple of the late 80s, after playing lovers in Aussie soap Neighbours, and their romance spilled over off-screen. In 1988, their drippy duet reached No.1 and stayed there for 14 weeks.
"Kylie has distanced herself from that period," our source continues. "She also lost touch with Jason as their careers took very different directions."
After Jason was dropped by his label in 1992, he went off the rails, though now he's a West End star in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Our source adds: "Kylie feels it would be a great gesture to ask him to join her for some dates on her tour - they have a lot of history together.
"It has taken a lot for her to pluck up the courage to ask and she's really hoping that Jason will accept her offer."
He'll leave Too Many Broken Hearts if he doesn't...

That would get people talking. A lot of people would go to see the concert just for that moment. Jason and Kylie were like Australian Bennifer back in the 80's. I hope he says yes.

Kylie Minogue’s tour sold out today in less than two hours.
Fans were so desperate to snap up tickets that the telephone exchange handling her London show crashed due to the volume of calls.
Extra dates for the Kylie – Showgirl tour were immediately added to cope with demand. But interest was so great that a second date in Manchester sold out without even being announced.
The website handling ticket requests for Birmingham repeatedly crashed while queues in Glasgow set record levels.
A spokeswoman for the Earls Court venue in London said: “We do tend to sell out quickly with the likes of Madonna and Elton John, but Kylie has been one of the fastest.”
Tickets cost £37.50 each but are already for sale on eBay, where they are expected to sell at inflated prices. The sales have already broken records Kylie set for his last tour in 2002.
The following dates have now been added and have tickets still available:
March 20 – Glasgow SECC
March 22 – Glasgow SECC
April 20 – Birmingham NEC
April 26 – Manchester Evening News Arena
May 1 – London Earls Court

FOXY pop princess Kylie Minogue went for a modest look when she opened her own art exhibition in Melbourne. Instead of her usual skimpy attire, she wore this sensible sundress.
She was at the Victorian Arts Centre to promote an exhibition of more than 300 of her costumes and other memorabilia. Highlights include her famous gold hot pants and the white muslin dress she wore for the I Should Be So Lucky video.

Tickets will go on sale on January 31 for the show, which will open in Sydney on May 20 Then travel to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide before finishing in Perth on June 12.
London-based Minogue announced the tour in Melbourne today at the opening of an exhibition of costumes and personal memorabilia she has donated to the Arts Centre.
The collection charts her career from the denim overalls she wore as Charlene in Neighbours to the impossibly tight golden hot pants made famous in the video to her 2000 hit Spinning Around.
At the Arts Centre today, Minogue was amazed at the reverential treatment her costumes were getting from the collection's curators, who all wore gloves to handle the items.
She said she had come in to look at the exhibition and could not resist touching a massive black feathered headdress she called "the crow". "I put my hand straight on it and one of the girls working here said `Oh – you are the only one who is allowed to do that'," she said.
Minogue's parents approached the Arts Centre with the proposal for the exhibition and the star said today they would be pleased to get rid of all the boxes they had been stored in at their house.
More than 300 items have been donated to the centre's performing arts section. Once the exhibition is over, the items will go on rotation alongside outfits from Dame Edna Everage.
Asked to nominate a favourite outfit, Minogue couldn't single one out. "Every one of them has just a myriad of memories for me," she said. "I didn't think I would be so emotional."
But not all of the memories were happy ones and she pointed out a black dress with lace up sides that she wore on her 2002 tour. "I used to panic every night getting into that dress," she said. "I'm sure most of them were uncomfortable at one point or another but I love them all."
Most of the outfits are on open display, but the gold hot pants are safe from prying hands behind protective glass.
Minogue said she was excited at the prospect of bringing her tour to Australia.
"It's a greatest hits tour so we are trying to put in as many as we can, which I have to say is a far cry from the first and second tours that I ever did where we didn't even have enough songs let alone hits," she said.
The display of outfits and memorabilia at the Arts Centre ends on April 25 and then goes on a tour to Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney.

| Posted by: schmiggens | | MINOGUE TURNS TO PLUMS TO SAVE HER VOICE
Pop singer Kylie Minogue is eating pickled plums in a bid to prevent throat problems from jeopardizing her Showgirl world tour, which kicks off next week.
The pop star first tried the 5,000 year-old Japanese recipe during her 2002 Fever tour, during which a sore throat nearly put a halt to the road trip.
And Minogue isn't the only star turning to the ancient remedy -- Latin sensation Enrique Iglesias is also keen on the plums, known in Japan as "umeboshi" or "venerable pickled plums."
A source says, "Kylie's gearing up for the first night of the tour and is anxious to be on top form. It's flu season and every time she gets a tickle she's worried it could be a cold or worse. The plums worked so well last time she's eating them now as a precaution."

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Omeboshi is an aquired tatse, but I quite like it. They're really good for just about everything. I got a funny tummy this weekend and you make tea out of the roasted leaves of the pickled plum and it's good for upset tummys. I also ate lots of the leaves, now my tummy is good. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Kylie Minogue orders £5,000 corset for UK tour
Kylie Minogue has ordered a £5,000 corset for her forthcoming UK tour.
The pop babe will don the designer undergarment on the first leg of her 'Showgirl' tour this Saturday (19.03.05) - to give her an eye-watering 16-inch waist.
A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "She's already got the greatest bottom in pop and now she'll have the tiniest waist too.
"She's worn it for a few dress-rehearsals and it makes her bum look astonishing. Heaven knows how she manages to breathe in it, let alone sing and dance."
The sexy star commissioned the tight-fighting garment from eccentric corset-specialist, Mr Pearl, who wears one of his own 18-inch creations 24 hours-a-day and designed a similar garment for Victoria Beckham's wedding six years ago.
The exclusive made-to-measure creation is one of five designer costumes the sexy star will slip into as part of her latest stage show, which has cost more than £6 million to produce.
But insiders have dismissed reports that the 36-year-old singer - who also has her own lingerie range - will be wearing a replica pair of her famous gold hot pants which heralded her pop comeback in 2000.
A source added: "She did briefly consider wearing them for the tour but decided those days are well and truly behind her."

Kylie wears an array of elaborate outfits inspired by showgirls, from the Moulin Rouge to Las Vegas
Pop princess Kylie Minogue kicked off her Showgirl world tour in Glasgow last night for the first of 23 British dates and her extravagant costumes were the stars of the show.
Kylie, 36, wears an array of elaborate outfits inspired by showgirls, from the Moulin Rouge to Las Vegas.
Her already tiny figure is encased in a handmade corset which will reportedly reduce her waist to an eye-watering 16 inches.
It is designed by Mr Pearl, who has trained his own waist to 18 inches as a result of wearing his corsets day and night.
Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano and Julien McDonald have also designed outfits for the greatest hits tour, which features a cross-section of Kylie songs from the beginning to her new single Giving You Up.
Her opening outfit is a jewel-encrusted couture corset by Galliano which took four months to make as each jewel was painstakingly hand sewn.
The famous Lido in Paris has supplied the feathered head-dresses - so big that they need a truck all of their own to transport them between venues.
The show features a £1 million Art Deco-inspired stage set thought to be the biggest ever built for an arena tour.
17 years and counting
Kylie's pop career has now lasted 17 years - her first UK chart hit was I Should Be So Lucky back in January 1988.
She said: "This tour is not only a celebration of pop songs, and of my career, but also of a long term relationship with my audience. This is my way of saying thank you and of sharing some of the most important moments of my journey so far.
"It's been so much fun putting the show together. The biggest challenge was to represent my finest records and also my personal favourites. Showgirl has taken just under a year to design and build, but it has been a lifetime in the making."
After Glasgow, Kylie will perform in Birmingham and Manchester before playing seven nights at London's Earls Court Arena.
The tour then moves to Europe, Australia and the Far East and will end with a headline appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on June 26.

THE £475 a night Mar Hall hotel near Bishopton, Renfrewshire, is where Kylie is based during her stay in Scotland. It has a 24-hour butler service, designer shopping facilities, shooting and fishing activities, beauty treatment and spa rooms. A pot of tea for two costs £7, but includes homemade biscuits and fudge. Every time Kylie comes out of her room, adjoining doors in the hotel are shut to give her the privacy she needs.
KYLIE'S MUM
KYLIE'S mum Carol has been helping her diva daughter get organised backstage during the tour . Carol initially helped Kylie get her wardrobe together during her Fever tour. This time round mum is lending a helping hand with the frantic costume changes, as well as providing moral support.
KYLIE BUZZ
KYLIE'S dancers and entourage were presented with goody bags to mark their opening night. The petite black and white bags had some unusual items in them, including peaches, Jelly Bellies, a Tunnocks snowball and, most bizarrely, fake false teeth.
WHAT A SHOW FROM QUEEN OF GLAM
SO much for the spectacular. Was it actually a good gig? The 10,000 fans in the SECC certainly thought so.
From the moment she trouped on stage in her Saltire-spangled finery, Kylie became THE superlative showgirl.
She opened the show burlesque style with Better The Devil You Know, before rolling into In Your Eyes, new single Giving You Up and a piano intro for On a Night Like This. The an acid house style set complete with smiley faces and laser show welcomed songs like Shocked, What Do I Have To Do and Spinning Around.
But it was the sexy shower scene in act four that got everyone's heart racing. As Kylie mounted her gym horse and her male dancers stripped off, she showed she was a true Red Blooded Woman.
Section five saw Kylie dreamily descend on a crescent moon to sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Section Six got everyone standing as a chilled-out version of Locomotion gave way to pumping high-NRG style versions of Should Be So Lucky and the gay anthemic Your Disco Needs You.
For her double encore, Kylie appeared first in space-age gear for Put Yourself In My Place and Can't Get you Out of My Head.
Then it was Fun Kylie TM as the stage became a giant karaoke screen and the audience crooned to Especially For You. Jason Donovan wasn't even missed.
WHAT A SHOW
Scot fans are wowed by Kylie
KYLIE fever arrived in true style in Scotland at the weekend. The small, but perfectly-formed Australian star brought the Greatest Show on Earth to Glasgow's SECC.
No expense was spared in making her Showgirl Tour 2005 an unforgettable experience, with its 18 top 10 hits and 27 songs in all.
The £5million budget - the stage set alone cost £1million - made every other concert seem like a school play.
The 53-date world tour will be seen by almost 700,000 people world-wide, 300,000 in the UK and Ireland alone. It took one year to organise, and with its 100 strong crew, is a truly mammoth project.
After playing five nights in Scotland,The Greatest Hits tour will visit four other venues in the UK and Ireland as well as Europe, the Far East and Australia, ending with a headline appearance at Glastonbury, the first time Kylie has ever played at the famous festival.
Fifteen trucks, 12 dancers, seven band members, four dressers, two award-winning choreographers, the love of a French movie star - Olivier Martinez, Kylie's boyfriend - some motherly advice - from Carol, Kylie's mum - and a little bit of magic have all contributed to the final result.
Cher, Madonna and Britney Spears were practically put to shame as Kylie and her crew gave 10,000 first night fans Vegas meets Folies Bergeres meets Moulin Rouge meets Cabaret in a song and dance spectacular.
And she sang live.
There were five hydraulic stages to raise her even higher in our estimations, lasers straight from the Starship Enterprise, and costumes you normally only see in movies.
Designers John Galliano, Moschino, Chanel, Julien Macdonald, Manolo Blahnik, Bulgari, Emilio Pucci, Stephen Jones and Swarovski were just some of the people behind the nine costume changes. Galliano designed a £30,000 corset and bustle, while famed corset designer Mr Pearl is said to have drawn in Kylie's waist to 16 inches, with his £5000 device.
The feathers - direct from the Lido in Paris - took up half a truck, the sequins and jewels required four months of fine stitching and the unloading of props took 14 hours of labour.
At £37.50 a ticket, 36-year-old Kylie is reportedly earning £250,000 an hour for this tour - that's £41,666.67 per minute, or £69.44 per minute for this first night.
It took millions of heartbeats, trillions of breaths and zillions of energy to get this show on the road.
It's all statistics - and there are plenty of them - but Kylie, who is still going strong 17 years on from her debut hit, I Should Be So Lucky, was even better than the sum of her parts.

| Posted by: schmiggens | | 16inch waist? I should be so lucky
Kylie Minogue has laughed off suggestions that the corset she wears for her Showgirl tour has given her a 16in waist. The Aussie singer is currently squeezing into a series of eye-popping outfits for her lavish stage show.
But she said: "A 16in waist? Wow, even I would be amazed by that. Of course that is an exaggeration."
However, the 36-year-old is keeping her real dimensions a closely guarded secret. "A showgirl shouldn't reveal her actual measurements," she joked. A spokesman for the star said: "We do not want anyone to think Kylie is promoting any form of extreme weight management or control. She does not have a 16in waist."
The pint-sized singer kicked off her tour at the weekend in Glasgow.
Designers Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Julien McDonald and corset-maker Mr Pearl have created her costumes. Mr Pearl has trained his own waist to a tiny 18 inches as a result of wearing his corsets day and night.
The £6million stage show is inspired by showgirls from the Moulin Rouge to Las Vegas. The world-famous Lido in Paris has supplied the feathered head-dresses - so big that they need a truck of their own to transport them between venues.
After 23 British dates the tour will move to Europe, Australia and the Far East and will end with a headline appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on June 26.
