SIMPSON AND LACHEY CROWNED LIKELY PITT AND ANISTON SUCCESSORS

JESSICA SIMPSON and NICK LACHEY have been crowned among the stars most likely to take over BRAD PITT and JENNIFER ANISTON's defunct role as Hollywood's golden couple.

Beloved couple, Pitt and Aniston stunned fans around the world when they announced their separation in January (05).

And US magazine editors are now scrambling to find the next couple to take over the role, with Simpson and Lachey sharing first place alongside BEN AFFLECK and JENNIFER GARNER and CAMERON DIAZ and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

In the poll, conducted among American magazine editors by USA TODAY, celebrity couples were ranked on a scale of one to five, with BRITNEY SPEARS and her husband KEVIN FEDERLINE coming last.

The poll is as follows:

Just look at that list Is there actually one solid couple in there?

Ben & Jen have rumours of a split around them, well so do Nick and Jess, Cam and JT rumours of marriage, but then she doesn't like his family and his family don't like her so that's not 100% either. Jen & Marc have only just recently admitted to being marrried and J-Lo is not exactly known for her long-lasting relationships, Demi and Ashton have to be the most unlikely couple in Hollywood, but it seems to be working for them, despite constant rumours of weddings and babies. Beyonce and Jay-Z haven't really publicly declared that they are a couple yet, so that's not even a confirmed relationship, Penelope and Matthew may have broken up, may have gotten engaged depending on which paper you pick and Brit Brit and K-Fed, well they're just nuts.

If that's best Hollywood can offer, we're in trouble. You need to look at couples like Warren Beaty and Annette Benning. They're the ones who're going to last. I would also add Will and Jada Smith to the list.
