Teen actress Ashley Olsen is set to sue tabloid the National Enquirer for defamation of character, and is seeking multi-million dollar damages.
The 18-year-old beauty, twin sister of Mary-Kate, is outraged over a story that alleged she was caught in a drug scandal.
TV show "Access Hollywood" reports that the suit will charge that even the tabloid's cover photo is misleading, making the star appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Enquirer claims to have discovered documents that link Scott Sartiano, Ashley's boyfriend of five months, and co-owner of the New York nightclub Butter, to alleged drug dealing.

There's still speculation that Mary-Kate Olsen was/is using cocaine, but now it's her sister Ashley that's got her own drug problems. Ashley Olsen's boyfriend, 30 year old Scott Sartiano, has a history of drug use and dealing. The National Enquirer (hey, it's not all lies!) has obtained court documents from a lawsuit that Sartiano was recently involved in. And under oath, he testified in court that he has used cocaine and ecstasy. Damn it Ashley, I thought you were the smart twin?
She's now attempting to sue the magazine for defamation of character, seeking multi-million dollar damages. She's outraged over the story alleging she's caught in a drug scandal. The suit will charge that even the tabloid's cover photo is misleading making her appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. An attorney for Scott could not be reached for comment.
And to top it all off, Ashley is reportedly moving in with him! A friend of hers says "No one can believe that Ashley took up with Scott. But Ashley is head over heels in love with him." Clearly the Olsen twins got bored with their clean, parent-approved lifestlye and have gone the way of the rest of young Hollywood. Stupid, crazy, delusional, retarded, and insane. Yeah, that about covers everybody.
God, remember when the girls were young, sweet, and innocent? Think waaay back to like...any time before the failed "So Little Time" sitcom. It's a shame...I really liked them. I thought they were "the good girls."

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Well if your boyfriend, who you're about to move in with, was forced to testify in court that he used drugs, then I would say that qualifys as a scandal and as it's based around drugs, then it's a drug scandal.
I'll try and find a copy of the cover photo and stuff. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: gaboman | | Seems he's just admited he used drugs before... I guess it'd count as a drug scandal, but I seriously don't think it reflects on Ashley at all... could name a few people who've used cocaine and ecstasy I don't condone it, but most of the people I know who HAVE used them have left it way back in the past.
Though the guy could still be a crack head, who knows... | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Enquirer Prints Ashley Olsen Statement
The editors of American tabloid National Enquirer have printed a near-full page letter from Ashley Olsen's lawyer as they fight a defamation suit filed by the actress.
Olsen's attorney Stanton L Stein sent the letter, demanding a "full and complete retraction in substantially as conspicuous a manner" as an article, which ran in the publication last month suggesting Olsen had links to the drug world.
The teen actress is seeking multi-million dollar damages after claiming the article and accompanying photograph, which made her look like she was under the influence of drugs, was defamation of character.
Despite insisting they would stand by the article, Enquirer bosses have begrudgingly run Stein's letter in its entirety, stating, "In the interest of fairness we thought we'd give Ashley and her lawyer this chance to respond to our article."
In the letter, Stein makes it clear that he feels Olsen's name and image was only used to sell magazines - and the story, with the headline `Ashley Olsen Caught In Drug Scandal' was misleading to her fans.
Stein writes, "Nowhere does this Article even suggest that Ms. Olsen has had any connection with illegal drugs, or their use or sale - because she clearly has not."

The National Enquirer has apologized to Ashley Olsen for suggesting she was part of a drug scandal involving her former boyfriend Scott Sartiano.
Olsen appeared on the front of the weekly publication, underneath the headline "Ashley Olsen Caught in a Drug Scandal" -- but the Enquirer's editors insist they never intended to suggest the young actress was involved with drugs.
In a clarification notice in the new National Enquirer, the publication's editors state, "The article concerned certain legal proceedings involving Scott Sartiano and did not in any way accuse Ms. Olsen of being involved in those proceedings or of being involved in any drug scandal or any association with any type of illegal drugs.
"The National Enquirer wants to make clear to its readers that, by its cover and headlines, it did not intend to accuse Ms. Olsen of being involved in any drug scandal."

| Posted by: gaboman | | Of course they intended to suggest she was involved with drugs If they'd had the headline "Ashley's boyfriend testifies that he's taken drugs" it wouldn't have sold! | | Reply To this Message
