| Britney's bad memory costs a lot of money
Britney Spears' bad memory may have just cost her a cool $9.8 million.
The "Toxic" singer is suing several insurance companies for refusing to reimburse the star nearly $10 million for her canceled Onyx Hotel Tour, according to Celebrity Justice.
The insurers, mostly U.K.-based companies like Liberty Syndicate Management, are balking at paying the claim because Spears apparently forgot to check a box on a standard insurance form regarding pre-existing injuries.
Apparently, Spears forgot that she had knee surgery five years prior to embarking on the ambitious jaunt last year.
Spears had to cancel the U.S. summer leg of her worldwide tour due to a blown-out knee.
The recently married 23-year-old's legs began giving her trouble Mar. 18 2004 when a knee went out on her during a show in Moline, Illinois.
She subsequently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in New York June 9, just days before she officially scrapped Onyx Hotel.
Per the CJ report, Spears says she simply forgot about her past knee surgery in March of 1999 when she was just a teen because it was so long ago.
In the parlance of Spears' suit, they call Brit's bad memory about her "minor" surgery a "innocent omission."
But the several insurances companies Spears is suing aren't likely to be so forgiving of the omission/failure to disclose her past knee surgery especially when no less than $9,801,118.06 is at steak.
The lawsuit was filed in New York State Supreme Court last week.
