Beyoncé Knowles has hinted that Destiny's Child may never record another album together. The sexy singer, who has forged a successful solo career outside of the band, says the group's latest album, 'Destiny Fulfilled', may be their last as she doesn't think they'll be able to perform as well when they get older.
She said: "Maybe in five years we'll do another record, maybe not. We could do a reunion but we can't be 40 doing 'Bootylicious'."
Beyoncé recently admitted she and her bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, didn't get any work done on the first day they started recording their new album - because they were too busy talking.
The trio were so thrilled to see each other when they met up to record 'Destiny's Fulfilled' they got a bit carried away. She said: "The first day, we didn't get anything done. We just talked and laughed and felt like we were home."
Michelle also said she thought it was great for the band to go their separate ways for a period of time, as she believed it improved them as a band. She said: "It was good for us to each go out and do our own thing. When you're in the studio by yourself, you have to grow musically and learn to depend on yourself. So when we got back together, we knew how we each wanted to sound."
I don't see why they can't do it when they're forty. Tina Turner was still belting out "Private Dancer" and other raunchy songs when she was in her fifties. Cher does it still and she must 50-odd now.
But Cher and Tina are unique. Cher doesn't APPEAR to be fifty+. Her face is pretty much flawless. And Tina was a ball of excited energy and she had (has) those hot legs. Their images ALLOW them to do that. Destiny's Child isn't a name that can carry over for them when their in their forties. I think they'll alter their name sometime in the future, if they stay together (which is overkill IMO. They need to break up and go solo. At least 2 of them can have reasonable solo careers...). And the images of each of the women isn't really going to allow them to remain sex symbols at forty+, if they continue as they are now... However, the music industry goes through constant change, so they'd have to update their images often just to remain in the business anyways...
Well groups don't always last forever. But if this is their last album together Beyonce can do much better by herself. But kelly and michelle wouldn't.
Michelle did better than Kelly in the solo stakes, Michelle's album sold more copies than Kelly's I think. Michelle's album went to number one on the gospel charts. People seem to think that because Michelle didn't do a Pop album, that she wasn't successful, but in fact she was VERY successful when DC had their break.
I'm heavily into gospel, and I know that I didn't like either her song or her album. I believe that it made it so high on the charts because she is a member of DC. The song was only average in gospel terms, IMO. Nothing spectacular, and you should EXPECT it to be since she's part of a chart-topping multi-platinum R&B group. But, it was only decent.
I'm not saying that Michelle won't go on and do things, but IMO, only Kelly and Beyonce can really go anywhere with their careers. Beyonce's gonna do well no matter what, but Kelly is the only other one that I think can do well. She's got a good look and a decent image, and her voice and style has drastically improved because of her first solo album. You could hear a more mature and controlled voice from Kelly in the Destiny Fulfilled album, so I think that she has all the tools to be a good solo artist. Michelle is a different story, although she's also made leaps and bounds in her presence and dancing, etc in the latest album and videos. I don't see her having any mainstream success though, because her voice is impure IMO, and can't get much better than it is now. Also, I don't think she's really cut out for a solo career. She's best suited for a complimentary role in an ensemble.
Why bleh? I think Tina Turner and Beyonce have similar voices, both very powerful.
You're saying you can't see Beyonce keeping her figure like Tina Turner did and rocking out to "Crazy in Love" when she's 40 or 50? Why is that so hard to imagine? I can't see Michelle and maybe not Kelly doing it, but Beyonce was born to perform, I can't see her giving it up easily.
i actually like a lot of songs on kelly's simply deep album although i'm not really into gospel music so i haven't really listened to any of michelles songs i think i heard 'change the world' which was not at all my thing but i'd like to see her singing songs other than gospel in the future. I find it unbelievable that she was more sucessful than kelly but hey everyone gets their turn i guess,
