Mary-Kate Olsen is reportedly on the verge of dropping out of university, just weeks after starting life as a student.
The teenage actress/entrepreneur has been spending time in Los Angeles, 2,642 miles from New York University and the Manhattan apartment she shares with her sister Ashley, according to newspaper the New York Daily News.
A source tells columnist Lloyd Grove, "She's moved back to L.A., and might be staying indefinitely. She may not go back to school. Ashley says she's not sure if Mary-Kate wants to come back. They talk on the phone all the time."
A representative for the family admits Mary-Kate -- who only recently checked out of the hospital, where she was treated for an eating disorder -- has been in Los Angeles, but insists she will return to college.
Michael Pagnotta says, "She's been in L.A. for a few days and she's coming back in a few days. I think she'll be there for about a week.
"She's there on personal business. She had some things she wanted to take care of."

This year has been tough for brunette twin Mary-Kate, 18, after she spent six weeks in an undisclosed medical center for an eating disorder from June to July this year. Last month, she split from her boyfriend David Katzenberg after nine months together.
Only weeks after moving from California to start a degree at New York University, Mary-Kate flew sback to Los Angeles over the weekend for a few days on "personal business," sparking speculation she was planning to quit college.
The sisters' publicist Michael Pagnotta says, "Somehow there's a suggestion that she has relapsed into an eating disorder.
"That's just silly. She's in ongoing treatment for an eating disorder with an experienced team of professionals who are available to her on both coasts.
"She's working very hard at staying well under intense scrutiny. For people to say she is dropping out after all she has been through is incredibly hurtful and flat-out wrong. Does Mary-Kate undergo after-care treatment? She absolutely does.
"She will be returning to New York and to school shortly. This trip is a little bit of a head-clearing, a chance for her to re-focus."
Despite reports in her declining interest in university, Mary-Kate has been spotted studying intently for her upcoming exams in a campus Starbucks.

Last week, Mary-Kate returned to Southern California for a few days, and her representative Michael Pagnotta was immediately prompted to shoot down reports that she was leaving school to re-enter treatment for her eating disorder.
But she has now returned to the Big Apple, where she and her twin sister Ashley are studying.
Pagnotta says, "(Mary-Kate) is back in town. She'll be back (in school). Ashley is here, too."
The teen stars marked Mary-Kate's return with a trip to one of her favorite spots, Next Door Nobu, for a late Sunday dinner with friends.
