BEN AFFLECK: J.LO RELATIONSHIP HAS RUINED MY CAREER

Actor Ben Affleck has blamed his high-profile relationship with fiancee Jennifer Lopez for hurting his career.

The actor blames constant media exposure surrounding the high-profile lovers for his dwindling credibility as an actor.

Ben says, "My relationship with Jennifer has absolutely been bad for my career. The overexposure this year has been really damaging.

"The combination of me and Jennifer as a unit became more important than the parts we did in movies. It's not good when everybody knows everything about you -- the mystique disappears.

"The whole world knew what we were doing on a daily basis. They wrote that we had bought jeans for half a million dollars.

"It made people think bad about us. But it's not important. People who regard that as important have lost their soul."

AFFLECK RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT LOPEZ RELATIONSHIP

Hollywood star Ben Affleck raised fresh questions about his relationship with superstar Jennifer Lopez with some tentative comments in an interview on American TV yesterday.

The star, promoting his new film "Paycheck," chatted to Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America and admitted he and Lopez "made mistakes" over their relationship, which dominated the media after they cancelled their planned wedding in September.

He said, "I think we made a mistake, Jen and I. I think maybe because we were happy, having fun, enjoying our lives. I think we were too available. And we may not have been guarded enough, I don't know. But I think I'm probably not going to talk about whether or not I'm getting married on television.

"Jennifer Lopez and I are going to take our life at our own pace. And we're going to make the decision that's right for us. And we're going to do it in a private way."

However, when asked whether there was a risk waiting to marry his girlfriend, he answered, "Sure. Sure it does. Sure there are risks," before adding, "It's a complicated time -- it's an unexpected time."

Then, when quizzed about whether his relationship with Lopez was "just as before", he revealingly answered, "No."

J-LO CALLED OFF WEDDING, SAYS BEN AFFLECK

Hollywood actor Ben Affleck has confirmed his fiancee Jennifer Lopez suggested they call off their wedding earlier this year.

The "Paycheck" star says the couple decided to abandon the Santa Barbara, Calif., ceremony when the press intrusion became too much.

And Ben has revealed that he and J.Lo are now in no rush to get married -- and don't even have a date planned.

Ben says, "Jen actually was the first to say, 'This is so crazy.' She actually initiated the conversation.

"She's been down the road a few times -- it wasn't her first turkey shoot -- and she had an understanding and a level of maturity about these things and a very level-headed perspective about it.

"The stuff about me getting cold feet was all B.S. It was a question of us trying to make our lives as reasonable and sane as possible.

"So there are no plans for a wedding. We're really not in any rush. We were lucky that we were in a position were we could afford to take a whack on some of the deposits and everything because we want to do it at the right time. It just got too crazy and that craziness can ruin a relationship."

And 31-year-old Ben hopes to have a load of children with Jennifer, reports website Page Six.

He says, "I imagine I would just like to keep them coming. Push hard for the maximum and the woman lets you know when it's enough."

BET YOU LOVE VEGAS, BEN Jan 3 2004

SUPERSTAR Ben Affleck might have one of the world's most beautiful women at his side but his eyes were firmly fixed on the cards on New Year's Eve.

The Hollywood actorand his girlfriend Jennifer Lopez jetted into Las Vegas to say goodbye to 2003.

It has been a difficult year for the pair, who cancelled their lavish wedding at the last minute, blaming media intrusion.

They have refused to reveal when they will tie the knot.

But instead of partying the night away on New Year's Eve, Ben preferred a smoke and a spot of blackjack in the gambling Mecca. Meanwhile J-Lo, who dressed down in a white patterned skirt and Eighties-inspired pink jacket, looked on as her boyfriend tried his luck at the card table.

Let's hope he didn't waste too much of his fortune.

I don't see how she can enjoy herself just sitting there watching him gamble and smoke if she doesn't. She can't be that happy doing that.

Hey,
My personal opinion about the whole J-LO and Ben thing is that The only thing that I see that is making the relationship go the way it's going is all the people with those nasty remarks about Ben's acting carrer has flooped since he's been with her. The fact of the matter is that if he truely felt that way he should have just broken it off and never have looked back.Evedently there's something going right between those two. Like I said that's just my opinion.

According to several news sources it is over for Ben and Jen. I think the break up will surely help his career, hers, I just dont know. Also heard that in Jersey Girl, she dies in the first 12 minutes of the film, so they expect it not to be a flop. Well girls Ben is once again single. Wonder who he will date next? Any one want to guess?

He seems like such a nice guy, I hope he finds somebody outside of public life who he can have a real relationship with.

I agree with you so much Greatwhitenorth!!! I think it would be so much better for his career too. He does seem like a nice person. I think he is sick of the media. Cant blame him for that I guess.

Ben is as much at fault as Lopez. He enjoyed every minute of all that media attention.

However, when it back-fired on him, and his popularity start sinking, that is when he got sick of the media.

PALS FEAR FOR LONELY AFFLECK

Friends of newly single superstar Ben Affleck fear he is spending too much time gambling, following his split from fiancee Jennifer Lopez.

The star's love of poker and other gaming pursuits is said to be part of the reason Lopez called time on their 18-month relationship. And now that he is on his own again, Affleck is indulging his hobby even more.

A source tells British tabloid the Daily Mail, "He has been at the tables an awful lot since things started going bad with Jennifer.

"You can get an incredible high from playing cards and there is no doubt this is his latest obsession. He has got more money than he knows what to do with, so if he loses a quarter of a million, it doesn't matter."

And Affleck, 31 -- who has battled alcohol addiction -- has now appeared twice on the show "Celebrity Poker Showdown," much to the surprise of program makers.

A show insider says, "We never thought Ben would come on again, but he was more than happy. It's a bit sad really. You're left thinking, 'Hasn't he got anything better to do?'"

SURE LOOKS LIKE BEN'S OVER JEN Mar 15 2004

BEN AFFLECK poked fun at his relationship with Jennifer Lopez during an appearance on American TV.

Ben was on cult show Saturday Night Live and had no qualms laughing about the whole 'Bennifer' experience.

He split from the diva at New Year, following their cancelled wedding. In the sketches for the show he laughed at the whole experience, suggesting other pairings for himself such as 'Bopraph' (Ben and Oprah) before ending up in a gay wedding.

CONCERN CALLS IRRITATE AFFLECK

Ben Affleck received so many calls from concerned friends after his split from Jennifer Lopez he's too irritated to return to the booze.

Friends feared the breakup would drive the movie star back to drinking and wreck his chances of staying straight after a stint in rehab.

And Affleck admits the concerned calls have worked -- because he's so sick of them he'll never pick up another drink.

He says, "They say, 'Hey, are you OK? You need to talk?' That's kind of a constant reminder. Then I'm too irritated to have a drink."

Affleck is also annoyed by press reports that he's swapped his booze addiction for an unhealthy love of gambling.

He adds, "That's the most common thing said about people who have been in 12-step programs. If you're associated with one of those, you must have other problems too.

"Here's a sensible guy who wants his life to go in a certain direction, so he cuts off the problem at the pass so he can have a good life.

"He's someone who has a pretty good watch on himself. Instead, it's seen as 'This guy's crazy.'"
