Backstreet Boys To Release 'Poster Girl' As New Single

Denise McLean, mother of Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean posted a diary entry on her BackstreetMom.com website providing an update on the group.

In a posting on Wednesday (October 27), she writes, "As far as the BSB are doing, here is the latest from that front. The shows in Mexico and Monterey went very well and AJ is doing better at getting around on his knee. He is still not able to do full choreography but once the therapy is done he will be good as new. It has been over six weeks since his surgery and he is slowly getting back to normal. He actually went golfing and is driving so progress is being made. The boys are now in Stockholm recording with Max Martin and will be back to their respective homes at the end of this month. As far as my son tells me. the first single is still due out at the end of November and unless a change comes out of the current recording session, 'Poster Girl' is still slated as the first tune to be heard."

That's cute that his mum updates his web site for him. I am surprised how many mothers are actually really involved in their kids careers. I think it's a good thing.

Backstreet Boy Howie D. Updates Fans On The New Album

elghato writes "On December 21st, 2004 the Dorough Lupus Foundation hosted a "Christmas Evening with Howie in NYC."

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough chatted with fans at his recent charity event and filled them in on the group's plans for the new year. Millie858 from the Backstreet Boys forum at LiveDaily.com was in attendance that night. She says Howie asked a lot of them for their input in regards to the new album. She told them to make the first single a fast song, don't release Poster Girl as a single, tour small arenas and not big stadiums, and do lots of promo. Howie then updated her and her friends on what's going on with the group.

He played clips of new songs from the album called Moving On, I Still, Beautiful Woman, and Siberia (which is about a broken heart). He also said they will release the first single at the end of January, put the album out in March, and tour in the summer. Also in January, they'll do a big photo shoot, so expect lots of new pictures.

BACKSTREET BOYS GET SERIOUS ON NEW ALBUM

Reformed pop supergroup the BACKSTREET BOYS have teamed up with anthem writer JOHN ONDRASIK and former SAVAGE GARDEN star DARREN HAYES in a bid to offer fans a more grown-up sound on their comeback album.

The group has ditched meaningless lyrics and pleasant pop for songs about the war in Iraq and social issues.

FIVE FOR FIGHTING star Ondrasik, who wrote post-9/11 anthem SUPERMAN (IT AIN'T EASY), has penned an emotive support song for the US troops in Iraq for the five-piece, called WEIRD WORLD.

Singer HOWIE DOROUGH tells MTV.com, "It's a message song. You can get so caught up in your own world, and on the other side of the world, people are fighting for our freedom. So it's a very timely song with the war going on."

Meanwhile, Australian Hayes has offered them spiritual tune LIFT ME UP. The Backstreet Boys also collaborated with their heroes BOYZ II MEN on the new album.

Backstreet Boys set to return

The Backstreet Boys were eager to show the paparazzi they were back together, appearing at parties and red carpets throughout Grammy weekend.

The quintet has just completed a CD, set for release in late spring. One of the new songs will hit radio on March 18, said member Kevin Richardson. "We're all excited again," he said. "We just needed a break to recharge our batteries and step back and absorb it all, and realize what happened to us over the last 10 years."

The so-called Boys have grown considerably since their reign of the teen world. AJ McLean has overcome his alcohol and drug addictions, and Brian Littrell has a new baby, said Richardson.

Boy bands have gone out of flavour so it will be a challenge for the singing group to find a place in the current market, especially since most of their teen fans have moved on to other types of music.

Richardson said other "boys" have managed to stay the course and so will they.

"You still have the Beach Boys and the Beastie Boys," quipped Richardson. Thankfully, he admitted the crew will be leaving their aerobic dance moves behind. "We're practising what they call 'dancing without dancing' right now," he explained.
