First there was "The Love Boat." Now comes "The Apprentice" boat.

A Carnival Legend cruise to the Caribbean, set to depart New York on Sept. 26, will feature cast members from the biz show, says The Associated Press. The cruise will feature a farewell toast from the Donald ("You're sunk!"), plus competitions to produce a CEO-for-the-day who will get a $15,000 paycheck from Expedia.com, the Bellevue-based sponsor of the cruise.

Expedia veepster Mark Kammerer gushes, "We really believe you can bring a popular TV show down to the personal level so people can actually see, feel, touch and be around the people they've seen on TV."

See, feel, touch TV people? Oh please, pass the Dramamine.

But you've got to hand it to Trump, he knows how to milk this for every cent.

‘Apprentice’ cruise offered

NEW YORK -- Fans of "The Apprentice" are being offered an eight-night cruise with the theme of the hit NBC show.

It will sail from New York to the Caribbean on Sept. 26, after a bon voyage party in Manhattan with a send-off from Donald Trump.

Cast members from the show -- including Bill Rancic, the first Apprentice, and Stacie Jones Upchurch, Jennifer Crisafulli and Raj Bhakta from the second season -- will be on board. The trip will take place on the Carnival Legend cruise ship.

The third season of "The Apprentice" begins Jan. 20.

If Ivana signs on, I know who will buy the first ticket...

I can't find anything that actually details what the Apprentice crew will be doing. There has to be more to this gimmick than them just being passengers on the ship. They have to have tasks and what-not that they do for the real passengers or something.

These theme cruises are popular. Basically, the 'celebrates' have Q&A's, panels, talk to the passengers, etc. The cruise directors make you think you're partying with them.

They do it with athletes, too. I think I heard about one with the cast of Star Trek or some crap like that.

What people don't know is the celeb's are on a part of the ship that the rest of the general admission passengers don't have access to.

More info from TVGuide.com:

Carnival Cruise Lines is hiring The Apprentice's Bill Rancic, Stacie J., Jennifer C. and Raj to take part in an eight-day cruise themed after NBC's boardroom-based reality show. The cruise will sail from New York to the Caribbean on Sept. 26 and feature competitions, lectures on business and career topics and a masquerade ball. In addition to cash prizes, one person will win the grand prize — the chance to throw Omarosa overboard. Sign me up!

There's only four of them going on the cruise?

Looks like it. It's a total money issue. I wouldn't be surprised if these Apprentice hacks are charging a lot to be there.

Money, money....... MONEY!

If I were to guess, $25,000 a piece (net after 10% cut to agent rep) with FREE TRAVEL, meals and lodging as well as other perks. Not bad for an 8 day pay for going on a nice vacation. Yeah, they play along if you call that hard days work.

$25K? That might be about right. You have to figure about $5K per day, 5 day cruise perhaps.

Still a waste of damn money, IMHO.

Sources reported 8 days, unless The Apprentice has special provision in contract that gets them out on a shorter duration (which would require a separate air-lift out. )

I think they stay the whole trip... you see them boarding and awaiting custom clearance too. I didn't like waiting and waiting.... Other than that, they're really enjoyable cruises and well planned out. So the Apprentices will be mingling in the crowd abroad also. But they get to stay in the VIP deck of rooms.

Other than Bill, what can these people really discuss that you can't learn from reading Trump's book?

Well, people want to know the personal details. Who was naughty, who was nice, who didn't flush the toilet, who didn't make their bed, who picks their noses, all that kind of stuff. And people want the behind the scenes details, how the show is made, are the camera-men intrusive, how acurate is the portrayal on TV, etc.

I suppose. I just can't imagine paying for that info. though. Maybe I'm just a cheap-o.

The food and entertainment abroad should be great.... but might pick up a few pounds though....

How much is it going to be? I'm taking a 5-day cruise out to Catalina and down to Mexico in a few months, that's like $350 (not including booze).

Don't know for sure 9/26/05 cruise trip, but most cruises like this one-week type would go from $1000 to $3000 per person depending on types of accommodation. Overall with the great food, entertainment and itiniery.... excellent value for a relaxing and enjoyable cruise.

But be careful with the on-board casino. They love to stack the odds against the guys during the later hours into the night. One time I'm playing black jacks and had an extremely difficult time counting the 21 spots on the table when the pitt boss puts an attractive female dealer with a bunny tail, sticking her naked breasts into your face and smiling: "Do you want a hit?" The vision I remembered were those two spots bouncing up and down. The unfair advantage cleaned out the pockets of almost all the guys who can't think straight.

Excuse me, Ken, aren't you the one who gets your undies in a knot when people do not stay on the topic of The Apprentice? I am wondering why you do not practice what you preach.

Beth, you're observant.... and the thread is about The Apprentice CRUISE. Let me see if I can clarify it. HECKS asked how much and wants some comparison. I commented that the cruise is probably worth it for the great food, entertainment and other things. Then I illustrated why and cautioned how they can take the guys to the cleaners on these cruises.

My point being that guys who allow their little head take over can't think straight which is the greatest handicap when trying to beat the house on these cruises.

Why less rules and more free speech - the world of possibiliites allowing people to say and think.

<PERSONAL POST REMOVED>

There is one underlining aspect to all three of these business industries as to generating free cash flow:

    1. Trump Cruise
    2. Trump Casinos
    3. Trump Airlines

Trump airlines HAD no casino aboard.
I don't favor government bailouts with Bush handing out BILLIONS on corporate welfare giveaways.....putting us into big national deficit spending but here's Ken NJ's FREE solution for the free marketplace to give them own LIFT out of all those probable corporate airline failures. Less income tax, more sin tax for airline gaming industry. The airlines NOW in finanacial crisis could easily fill up all the emptied seats on cross continental flights to all the high rollers (even complimentary on the house.) VOILA..... trillions of instant market cap enhancement and billions of additional free cash flow to pay airline employee wages and company benefits. Anyone wonder why the cruislines are making record profits as opposed to the airline industry facing bankruptcies? Let them fly out of the box.
