Kate Bosworth beats Beyonce to Lois Lane part

January 5, 2005, 11:47:50 Kate Bosworth has beaten Beyoncé Knowles to land the part of Lois Lane in the new 'Superman' movie.

The stunning actress, who is romancing 'Lord of the Rings' star Orlando Bloom, won the coveted role to play the Man of Steel's love interest in new film 'Superman Returns'.

She will join newcomer Brandon Routh, who will play Superman, in the movie, which is believed to feature the action hero returning to Earth to do battle with evil.

Kevin Spacey, who starred with Kate, 21, in 'Beyond The Sea', is set to take the role of Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor.

Kate's boyfriend Orlando is said to be thrilled his lover has won the as he is a huge fan.

A source said: "Orlando couldn't be more excited if he had landed the lead himself. He's delighted for Kate because this is a huge move for her. He really loves Superman. He used to collect all the comics."

I can't imagine Beyonce as Lois Lane. I think Kate will be better.

Beyonce? DEFINATELY not Lois Lane. Last time I checked, Lois Lane was a caucasian with dark hair. Beyonce isn't caucasian, and usually she doesn't have dark hair either...

Also, Lois is an aggressive, argumentative, type A personality, and Beyonce's image isn't that of a type A personality... Not a good fit...

Still, I don't see Kate Bosworth as being that much of a better choice... She doesn't appear to have a type A personality either...

But, if one batter is hitting .000, and another is hitting .333, common sense says to put the .333 batter in over the .000 batter in a crunch... Between Beyonce and bosworth, who wouldn't choose Bosworth if they are going with an authentic superman and lois lane?

hey man Kingpin in daredevil was white and in the movie hes black. I cant remember (so i might be wrong) but wasnt spawn white in the movie but in da comics hes black? Why not Lois lane as beyonce? I mean what if they did want that in almost all comics chix have a big chest and ass (And i kno 4 sure beyonces got both) is that authentic enough? Im just being real though.

You're right, in Daredevil, Kingpin was black (which was a bad choice, in my opinion... I would almost call it a 'racial' thing, in that they converted the world's most brilliant criminal mind from a white man in the comics, to a big black man in the movies... If they wanted to bring in a black element, why not make Daredevil black, or Elektra, for that matter?). Spawn has always been a black character though, both in the comics and in the horrible movie (Michael Jai White played Spawn).

The reality is that they won't change the characters so drastically that they become totally new to us. Beyonce is simply a bad choice to play Lois Lane. Her voice is too demure, her image is too soft, and not many people would truly accept that Lois was colored, because for over 50 years she's been white with dark hair. Her image is solidified, and can't be changed so drastically. I wouldn't like it myself.

I just couldn't see Beyonce playing that role anyway, maybe her not getting the part could have been the best. But maybe i should never under estimate what she is capable of doing.
