| Avril Lavigne is set to headline Clear Channel's Concert for Tsunami Relief at Vancouver's GM Place on January 29th. Other acts on the bill with the Ontario native, who recently wrapped a North American tour in support of her latest album, Under My Skin, include Sarah McLachlan and Barenaked Ladies, reports RollingStone.
Lavigne joins a host of marquee artists who have chosen to help with fundraising in the wake of the natural disaster. Sting, who had been scheduled to play Sri Lanka on his Sacred Love tour before the area was overwhelmed by the natural disaster, will play a February 10th concert at the Leeuwin Estate in Perth, Australia. Willie Nelson will headline a January 9th concert at the Austin Music Hall in Austin to benefit the American Red Cross, UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders. And on January 14th, Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard, the Shins' James Mercer and Pedro The Lion's Dave Bazan will perform at Seattle's Showbox, with proceeds going to Northwest Medical Teams.
The death toll of the December 26th tsunami that devastated South Asia has surpassed 155,000, with survivors looking ahead to ten years of rebuilding efforts.
