Only just over a year after coming back on the singles market, Jude Law has got engaged to actress Sienna Miller.

The heart-throb star's spokesman said he had proposed on Christmas Day at his home in North London and had presented his girlfriend with a 'large' diamond ring.

Meanwhile, friends say that Law's former wife Sadie Frost is likely to announce in the next few weeks that she too is engaged.

Her musician boyfriend Jackson Scott gave her a diamond ring - coincidentally, also on Christmas Day - which she has been wearing on her wedding ring finger.

Yesterday she insisted that she was not yet engaged and added: 'I am delighted for Jude and Sienna and I wish them all the best for the future.'

In another bizarre twist, Scott and Miss Miller, both 23, were childhood sweethearts.

Law, 31, and Miss Frost, 38, were married for six years and have three children, Rafferty, eight, Iris, four, and Rudy, two.

The former golden couple of British cinema, their marriage started unravelling in October 2002 when Iris found an Ecstasy tablet at a children's party and put it in her mouth. Although their daughter was not harmed, Law blamed his wife and told friends he was struggling to forgive her.

A make or break Christmas holiday failed to make things any better and a few weeks later Miss Frost cut her wrists in an apparent cry for help.

She then entered a clinic suffering from post-natal depression.

The couple were granted a 'quickie' divorce in October 2003.

Miss Frost cited her former husband's 'unreasonable behaviour', saying: 'The respondent's behaviour increased the effects of postnatal depression, leading me to have to take treatment three times.' The pair

remain in dispute over money, with Miss Frost's solicitors recommending that she try to claim half of her ex-husband's future earnings.

Their children spent Christmas Day with Miss Frost but then flew to the Seychelles for a holiday with their father.

Miss Frost met Scott in July 2003 when she joined her friend Kate Moss on holiday at his parents' guesthouse, La Trasierra, in the mountains of the Sierra Morena near Seville, six months after her marriage break-up.

Around the same time, Law met Miss Miller, the daughter of a millionaire, when they worked together on the remake of Alfie.

The "Alfie" beauty accepted Law's proposal on Christmas Day after he presented her with a glistening diamond engagement ring, and she's already excitedly planning her wedding day.

Jude Law's fiancee Sienna Miller will have to get over her fear of reptiles before she marries the actor -- his 8-year-old son Rafferty has a pet snake. Law, 32, proposed to his 23-year-old "Alfie" co-star on Christmas Day after a 14-month romance, but the pair are yet to set a wedding date. A friend of the couple says Miller is terrified of the snake, which resides in Law's north London home.

The pal reveals, "The snake was to make up for the fact that Rafferty's pet fish has died. Sienna is a bit scared of it and doesn't particularly like staying there overnight since it moved in."

Jude Law's ex-wife Sadie Frost reportedly is fuming at being told of his engagement to Sienna Miller through their 8-year-old son.

Law apparently informed Rafferty of his forthcoming nuptials to actress Miller -- who later relayed the news to his furious mother on Christmas Day despite the former spouses having spent the afternoon together.

Frost, who is dating 23-year-old flamenco guitarist Jackson Scott, has since issued a statement declaring how "delighted" she is for her ex-husband and his fiancee.

However a source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, Frost called Law "the [bleep]" when she heard of his plans. The source comments, "He spent the afternoon with the family and could have taken Sadie aside at any time to tell her that he was engaged, but he didn't. When Sadie spoke to Rafferty that evening, he told her the news. 'Dad's engaged to Sienna,' he said. She and Jude then had a furious row over the phone. She was very sarcastic and said something like, 'Well done, you could not have let me know in a better way than through our child.'

Sienna Won't Marry Jude - This Year

Jude Law and Sienna Miller won't be getting married for at least another year - because they don't want to steal their siblings' thunder. The couple got engaged on Christmas Day after meeting on the set of Alfie, and were expected to tie the knot this summer.

But Sienna, 23, told reporters at a pre-Bafta party she was in "no rush" to be Mrs Law - unlike thousands of others.

After partying at the Sanderson, Sienna met up with Gael and Rodrigo at Boujis nightclub where we're told she then sat on Rodrigo's lap, too. Well it's only fair they both get a chance.

They were then joined by Leo. At 5.15am Sienna, Gael, Rodrigo and a female pal got into a car and went to the Covent Garden Hotel. Funnily enough they were less than pleased to be snapped together. DiCaprio joined them at 7am and party-girl Sienna finally left the hotel 8.30am.

Yesterday Sienna and Jude's spokeswoman denied reports that the couple are on the verge of splitting - despite Pearl Lowe finally admitting that Jude Law and his ex Sadie Frost DID indulge in wife-swapping antics.

The spokeswoman said: "I spoke to them both today and they are incredibly happy - I can guarantee that 100 per cent. There is very little likelihood of them getting married this year because of their schedules. Jude's filming and Sienna has two films and possibly a play. Jude Law and Sienna Miller are desperate to get out of London, according to her mum Josephine.

She claims they have had enough of being at the centre of the paparazzi's attentions - and want to escape to the countryside.

Jude and Sienna are part of the so-called Primrose Hill Set - a posh area of north London where stars such as Liam Gallagher, Kate Moss and Jude's ex-wife Sadie Frost live.

But Josephine told Grazia magazine that they will look for a country retreat as soon as Sienna finishes in her West End production of As You Like It.

Sienna and Jude Ripped Apart by Nanny Affair

Jude's nanny for his kids with his ex-wife has gone to the UK Press and published claims she and Jude have been having sexual relations.

That's not really news, every nanny of a famous person claims to have had sex with them at one point in time. The truly wierd thing about this is that Jude has actually admitted it is true. He's passed on giving the standard celebrity ritual: "deny everything", and has apologised to his family, most especially Sienna, about the affair.

No word yet from Sienna's people as to whether she's given Jude the flick and whether the wedding is off etc.

Sienna has attended her scheduled performance at the West End, she was seen going in to the theatre without her engagement ring on, although it's not the first time she has been seen without it.

Jude Law is still begging fiancée Sienna Miller for forgiveness after admitting his affair with his kids' nanny. But it's not going well.

It didn't help that someone claimed yesterday that the 32-year-old "Alfie" star once invited 26-year-old child-minder Daisy Wright to join him in a three-way.

"So," David says, giving her an appraising glance that tells you all about the effect she has on men. "They picked you." Sienna is aglow. She chatters about getting the part in a new movie, Layer Cake. "My life is just so brill," she says. The parties, the people she's meeting - and now her dream of becoming a movie actress is within reach. David reaches over, gently strokes her hair: "You're going to be the greatest," he says.

Her audition tape from Layer Cake is a triumph. She plays Tammy, a moll whose gangster boyfriend wants to go straight. "The camera melted around her," a movie insider notes. We see Sienna becoming the toast of London.

She is high on a list of 100 Bright Young Things, and then she lands a plum role - playing opposite Jude Law in a re-make of Alfie. Jude has been pulling down £5 million a picture and is reckoned to be one of the most beautiful men in the world. Sienna notices his hair seems to be receding. They take dancing lessons together; the camera lingers on these two gorgeous people, moving as one, falling in love.

Jude and Sienna are an item. Action cuts to a house in Primrose Hill: Bohemian decor, traces of cigarette smoke. A woman paces the floor holding a newspaper in front of her. She mumbles incoherently. On the page, Sienna and Jude are pictured on holiday in Mexico. With a gnashing cry, the woman tears the newspaper to confetti; scatters it across the room. She is Sadie Frost, Jude's estranged wife. Parting shot of her face shows her eyes strangely lit.

But London is in love with Sienna and Jude. He proposes on Christmas Day; she is photographed wearing an engagement ring, platinum, with nine diamonds. It cost him £20,000. Reprise Sadie: she says of the ring: "It's something Wayne Rooney might have bought Coleen."

Vogue puts Sienna on the cover of the Christmas edition. Hardly a day goes by without a photograph of her somewhere. Jude's friends love her. One is theatre director David Lan, who will cast her in a role that becomes pivotal to the story.

Meanwhile, things are not going so well for Jude. His latest movies have flopped and he was the butt of a joke at the Oscars when US comic Chris Rock cracked: "You want Tom Cruise and all you get is Jude Law." Sienna is spotted having a late-night drink with a handsome Mexican; Jude is dogged by stories about alleged wife-swapping. Cut to headline: "Is Sienna sick of Jude?"

We start to see a harder edge to Sienna. David Lan casts her as Celia in As You Like It in the West End. The female lead, Rosalind, is played by acclaimed stage actress Helen McCrory, who promptly falls ill. Looks like a job for the understudy - but wait. Sienna texts director Lan (Jude's friend, remember?) His phone screen lights up with this message: "I know Rosalind's part, if you need me to do it. x"

Lan switches her to Rosalind's role - the longest female part in Shakespeare - and she is a hit. We start to see subtle changes in Jude and Sienna; she is more confident, assertive. He seems off-balance. He has sacked his agent, sacked his divorce lawyer. But nothing warns him of the coming storm.

The scene opens with Sienna replacing the telephone receiver, slowly and carefully as if she is afraid of damaging it. She turns, then bangs her tiny fists on the table: "The bastard!" she hisses. Cut to Jude, lowering his mobile phone, staring dully into space. The camera closes in; his expression tells it all - the nanny has talked.

Flashback to New Orleans where he was filming with Sean Penn. One of his children is there, and nanny Daisy Wright is taking care of him. One night, the child has a bad dream and stumbles into his father's room. He sees his nanny in bed with his daddy.

Now it's Jude who's having the bad dream, except it's being played out for real, in the house he shares with Sienna. The house he shared with Sienna, because now she's in a taxi heading across town to her mother's place. Fade in Sadie, laughing, as a flashback shows her selecting the nubile Daisy as her children's nanny.

Sienna misses a night on stage. But when she comes back, performing brilliantly, she is cheered to the echo. And she seems to have grown in stature. Tearful, heartbroken, she still gives her all. And we love her for it.

Her publicist, Ciara Parkes, pleads for the paparazzi to leave her alone, but, curiously, Sienna keeps popping up at photo opportunities: she displays her left hand, sans engagement ring. She turns up at the Cartier polo tournament, where the photographers outnumber the players. She kisses Orlando Bloom. She has dinner with Sean Penn and his wife (originally friends of Jude) in a restaurant besieged by cameramen. Scene after scene mounts towards the inevitable climax: Sienna has eclipsed her faithless fiancé. Jude who?

Actor Jude Law and his fiancee Sienna Miller reunited on Friday for the first time since July 17 when the hunk admitted he had an affair with his children's nanny -sparking speculation the couple are working to save their relationship.

Miller stopped wearing her engagement ring following Law's admission he enjoyed a month-long fling with Daisy Wright, 26, three months after his romantic Christmas Day proposal to the Layer Cake beauty.

But she finally agreed to meet the Cold Mountain heart-throb at his retreat in England's rural Cotswolds region, amid reports of a reconciliation.

An insider tells British newspaper The Sun: "Jude and Sienna had a good talk. They both love each other, but Jude knows it will take a lot for Sienna to forgive him. He is desperate to marry her and have children and he is trying to prove that he won't cheat again.

DECISION TO CAST MILLER 'NOTHING TO DO' WITH LAW'S AFFAIR, SAYS DIRECTOR

The decision to cast Sienna Miller as pop artist Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick in the forthcoming movie "Factory Girl" had nothing to do with the tabloid hysteria surrounding her fiance Jude Law's affair with his children's nanny, says the film's director.

Monday, it was announced Miller had won back the role as Sedgwick, leading to speculation she was only offered the part as a result of her new-found status as an A-list celebrity.

Earlier this year, British newspapers reported Miller lost the part because she was not famous enough, although she insisted the film clashed with her role in the London play "As You Like It."

But director George Hickenlooper has dismissed reports he re-offered Miller the part in light of Law's recent infidelity and preferred her to Katie Holmes, who was briefly in the running for the role.

He tells Page Six, "She was offered the role on July 13, long before the Jude Law story broke. As soon as Katie Holmes dropped out, we went back to Sienna. I always saw her as Edie. It was very painful when she left the project. (It's) blatantly absurd to think that tabloid gossip had anything to do with it. We cast her the old-fashioned way, because she's brilliantly talented."

Heath Ledger played cupid to get Jude Law and Sienna Miller back together. The Australian actor, who recently became a father when girlfriend Michelle Williams gave birth to a baby girl, reportedly persuaded his beautiful 'Casanova' co-star to give Jude a second chance after he cheated on her with his children's nanny.

Heath - who is said to have become pals with Jude when he visited Sienna on the Italian set of 'Casanova' - even helped the blonde actress get over her reported liaison with new James Bond actor Daniel Craig. And they couldn't have been farther off: Earlier this year, Miller reportedly dumped Law after he confessed to cheating on her with his children's nanny. Then, just as they seemed to be getting back on track, Miller allegedly had an affair with Daniel Craig, the new James Bond.

At Sunday night's premiere of Miller's new film, "Casanova," the Oscar-nominated Law walked the red carpet and posed for photographs, though not speaking to reporters.

Walking the line separately, Miller later confirmed with AP Television News, "Well, it's pretty obvious, isn't it? (She laughs.) No, it's just fantastic to have him here and support the film. We're working things out. And he's always and will remain my closest friend in the world, so, you know, so it's good."
