I think Original Doll is a cute name. Makes me think she is referring back to when she first started and she was the first blonde pop star to come out before Christina, Jessica, Mandy Moore, etc all flooded the market and people accused them all of copying Britney.
Billboard.com: Britney Spears surprised fans last week when she showed up at KIIS Los Angeles to play a new song, "Mona Lisa." During the Dec. 30 appearance, she also told the top 40 station's listeners that she will have a new album out this summer.
A Jive spokesperson tells Billboard "no album is scheduled at the moment" but acknowledged "Britney is in the studio working on some material." There are no plans to service "Mona Lisa" to radio.
Look, Britney said herself there'd be an album... Maybe there isn't an actual contract with Jive regarding this just yet. Brit is simply working on some new stuff and then the album will be official, when she'll be done with the recording and all, probably.
BRITNEY RECORDING ONE OF MADONNA'S REJECTED TRACKS
Rumor: Cathy Dennis reportedly gave Britney a song called Blink To The Eyes (Sweet To The Taste). It was actually recorded by Madonna but she didn't want it, after all. The track is said to be over 7 minutes long.
Britney un-intentionally landed herself into trouble
BBC Entertainment UK: It's not very often that an artist angers their management company, but it is a rarity in the pop industry. Mariah did it by breaking her mulit-million dollar contract with her company, forcing them to shell out millions. Janet has done it by "exposing" herself at the 2004 Superbowl, causing outtrage accross the USA, and therefore preventing any real chance at another No. 1 album. Finally, it may appear Britney Spears has done it too and this time her record company aren't giving up easily.
Britney recently popped into KIIS FM's studios for a suprise visit and to play a demotape of a new track called Mona Lisa. In the brief interview before the world premiere of the song Britney said that she's half way through recording her 5th studio album and fans should expect it to hit shelves late this Summer with the title "The Original Doll". However, by doing so, Britney has un-intentionally landing herself into some very serious trouble.
Britney's record company, Jive Records, did not give Britney permission to air the exclusive song on radio, with Britney calling it 'a spare-of-the-moment idea'. Jive have therefore put her Original Doll project on hold for the time being. This became evidential after Britney's shaky interview on TRL, when she herself denied any signs of an album in the pipeline, when just days before she claimed to be "halfway through the recording process". She denied that she would be touring, but admitted she would be doing some kind of show next year, but didn't say what.
Several rumours circulating within the media suggest that Britney doesn't know what she's going to be doing next. With her 5th studio album shelved for the time being, a tour out of the question and signs of a musical script written by Britney entitled "Hollywood" being read by all the big Theater agencies in America, only time will tell what Britney's next move will be.
According to a close source of Jive and Leslie Sloane (the woman in charge of the Brit's publicity), Britney's next album would be called Crazy Sexy Fun, not Original Doll, and would include only a few new recorded tracks, while most of the other songs appearing on it were previously recorded. The CD should be released by the end of 2005.
Here's the tracklisting, which could be modified depending on the countries and bonus material.
02. New Era
03. Hope & Faith
04. I'm Just An Original Doll
05. Mona Lisa
06. Givin' It Up 4 Love
07. Hollow, Man!
08. Wanna Be
10. It's Not I Don't Love U No More
Hot995 reported that Mona Lisa won't appear on Britney's 5th studio album. The track, which was recorded during the Onyx Hotel Tour, has been cut by Jive. Britney is now rumored to perform Mona Lisa during Madonna's Icon special on MTV this fall. The real deal is, Britney co-wrote it when she heard about the gig for Madonna. Since she liked it so much, she decided to change the lyrics that were directed to her idol to make it more for her. Due to this, people started speculating and saying that the song was about Britney wanting to dethrone Madonna.
Allthough Enrique Iglesias has written a tune for the next Britney album, they won't be joining forces on the track... why? The super slick Latino singer and actor has duetted with the likes of Whitney Houston and rap star Kelis. However, the multi-talented musician has been penning tunes for many other stars, including the lovely Britney.
He told my spies: "She loved at least three of the tracks for which I am delighted, but we both agreed that singing together would be a definite no no at this stage in our careers." Instead Britney would like to team up with Usher on the track, it's called As Far As The Eye Can See... But will Usher be too busy?
I don't think Usher would do a duet with Britney. Maybe if Original Doll ends up being a massive smash hit album with really cool songs and she can get her game back up, THEN Usher might do something with her. But Usher wouldn't risk it unless he knows Brit's album won't flop.
According to a close source of DMand Entertainment, it seems like Britney has completed her new album. The working tittle for it is still Original Doll. Mona Lisa will appear as a bonus track in some countries only.

Here're some more new album rumors... I'm not making any statement if whether or not this is true. The thing is, you gotta face it, Britney will release a CD this year. Her contract with Jive is clear... She has to release an album every single year. Why you think GH: MP came out last year? Just to fill up for 2004, instead of releasing a totally new CD. So this was sent to BritneyUnleashed.com and the girl that wrote the letter is the webmaster of the BackStreet Boys official fan club in Japan.
My name is Cari and I would like to tell you about something that has just come to my attention. I am the Webmaster of the Official Backstreet Boys Fan Club here in Japan, with this; I have a close connection with the workers of Jive Records and Zomba. I have learned that the album will only have 3 new tracks; the rest of the album was recorded at a previous period.
The album is to be named "Up Close", familiar to her TV Show with Kevin on MTV "Up Close and Personal" which is to be filmed in 2006. There are currently 9 songs for the album already, no word if there will be more tracks. The 3 new tracks are "Love Me Forever" (With Kevin Federline), "On Fire", and "**** (It Sucks)". All the other songs on the album are previously unreleased. To name a few of the previously recorded tracks, "Try It", "Mona Lisa" and "Darling". The album will be released everywhere except in the UK. The Japan version of the CD will feature a bonus track by Kevin Federline, which features Britney. The album is set to be released in June.
BritneyNow contacted the Brazilian Sony/BMG (which we have close contacts with) which confirm the rumor that Britney IS recording some stuff for a new CD, we can not give you more information than this. But, it seems like Britney's new album will come out around September this year. It may change though, we can not guarentee anything for sure YET.
Oh man, after reading through this thread, I almost believe there is no possible way she's going to release a new album... all the info contradicts one or another piece in some way... From the looks of it, the album'll be called up close to an original crazy sexy fun doll
"I was in Santa Monica with my friends the other night and we decided to check out Busby's bar. After getting settled, in I noticed a familiar face. It belonged to none other then Britney Spears. I told my friends and they were pretty shocked to see her there too. I decided to see if she could be so kind to sign an autograph for me.
I walked over to her table and politely asked. She smiled and asked me for a pen. She signed my napkin and I said thanks. I didn't want to leave. She fascinated me. So I quickly told her, "You've been looking really nice lately, I prefer the brunette look on you." She said, "Aww thank you. That's so sweet." Then I blurted out, "Is it ok If I ask one more question?" She said go for it, so I did. I asked her if she planned on doing another album. She said she's in the process of recording and she just wanted to be leisure and make this project her best yet. I thanked her and wished her the best of luck. She smiled back and said have a nice night.
I have to say, I was rather shocked how nice she was. She was such a sweetheart. I didn't want to ask her about any of this baby business because I, unlike others, didn't want to intrude."
Britney Spears is back on the music scene with her 5th studio album, "The Original Doll" as well as a new world tour.
"This tour will be my boldest yet!" The expensive stage show will hit 14 countries in just under 12 months. The show features multiple costume changes, explosions, acrobatics and a stage setup that will make this show the extravaganza of the century.
"I'm very excited to be able to open my show in Australia. I have only briefly been there, but I loved it there and I am so excited to go back." The world tour kicks off in Brisbane, Australia on the June 15, 2006 and tour the country for just under a month, then hitting Asia and Europe and then an extensive homecoming in the USA which wraps up the tour in April 2007."

The next album from Britney Spears, which at it's pending title "Original Doll", will not only decrease the amount of sexual meanings, but will also encourage a new encounter this time.
Spears says: "Not only am I a believer in Christ, I think it is time that I should give him a meaning and not use as much personal life in my songs anymore. I cannot dance in a cat suit my entire life; I am a legally married woman."
Her new bonus track, Mona Lisa (which was featured on a popular KISS fm LA radio station a couple of months ago) has mentioned the word God one time. Spears reports that she will also have more reports of the word Christ, Lord, and God in a positive meaning and that she will try not to let the label leak out anymore 'profane' hits on her next album. But it is still possible.
"I already said what I had to say with My Prerogative on my Hits CD. This time it's gonna have a meaning. But no, it will not be gospel." Britney says the Extra Reporter. -
The Chaotic soundtrack which is also Britney's new album that she's been talking about on TRL (remember when she mentioned something about a new project for a show...). (UBritney) has a friend who's gonna mix the album and he got the soundtrack for us.
Chaotic - Music Of The UPN TV Show: Britney & Kevin: Chaotic
02.Money, Love, Happiness
05.Your Pretty Eyes
07.U-Turn (With Kayne West)
08.From Bad 2 Worse
09.Mona Lisa (She's Gone)
12.Drive Into Me
13.Tell Me What You're Sippin' On
14.I See Your Face Everyday (With Kevin Federline)
15.I've Had The Time Of My Life (With Kevin Federline)
Chaotic is of course the first single off of the album and it's also the main theme song for the reality show.
Guilty and Mona Lisa are a lot different from the actual demos we got to hear.
The album includes three duets. Two with Kevin Federline and one with Kayne West.
I got an email from Micheal. His friend is working at Jive Records and he was able to get info concerning Britney's new album. Here's what he had to say. If this is true, well it'll be amazing.
Britney's been taking her time working on her album, making sure that everything comes out right this time. The energy around her and everyone working with her is very positive.
Listed below are some of the tracks that she's been working on, or has finished:
Don't: Haven't heard this one yet, but Britney is listed as co-producer, along with William Orbit.
Automatic: If all things go as planned, this could be a huge hit for Britney. The music is crazy, crazy, crazy! A lot of bass, drums, synths, and even acoustic guitar. It's insane and unlike anything I've ever heard. Her fans will love this one, no doubt about it.
Breakdown: Very sexy music with slick beats and heavy guitars. It has a reggae vibe to it.
My Promise: Simple, beautiful song (piano, violin), with a choir in the background during the chorus and bridge.
Dead End: Great song. No real instruments used, it's all synthesized. It's very different and almost cartoonish.
Fictional Life: Britney's attack on the tabloids/media. The music is fierce, and so are Britney's vocals.
Tell Me Lies: Haven't heard this. Producers are Britney Spears and Max Martin.
Yesterday: Unbelieveably beautiful ballad with a live orchestra. Britney's true vocals shine on this track. If I'm not mistaken, this is the track about her soon-to-be-born child.
Note that these are just the working titles, although I'm almost sure that the title on one of the songs, "Fictional Life," will be changed. It isn't known if all of these songs will make it on the album, but Britney and everyone around her are pleased with the way the music is coming together.
Note: The album should be released in 2006. This year, the soundtrack for Britney & Kevin: Chaotic should be released.
