The Kneazle's out of the bag at J.K.'s site

On her official website www.jkrowling.com, J.K. Rowling has finally broken her silence about the info released hidden behind clues and riddles on her site Monday about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

I have a great feeling of release in being able to talk freely about the fact that the book is finished; it has been a weighty secret to carry around, as you can imagine. But finally sharing it with you was wonderful: much more fun than wrapping presents and tidying the house before the family arrives, which is what I am supposed to be doing at the moment.

In addition, she has taken the time to shoot down a couple of rumors, the biggest of which was that there would be 38 chapters in the new book:

Listen carefully, I shall say this only once: the only sources you should trust concerning information on the Half-Blood Prince are official spokespeople for my publishers and my official website. As a spokesperson for Bloomsbury, my UK publisher, has already said, HBP is shorter than Order of the Phoenix, and I can tell you now that it has fewer than 38 chapters.

Let's face it: it wouldn't be a new Harry Potter book if hoaxers didn't pop up regularly on the net claiming to know new characters or plot-lines, or to have found stray chapters lying around a printer's back yard. I can't waste time denying each and every lunatic rumour, because I've got editing to do! So let's agree here and now that each of these 'claims' comes with a free barrel of salt and rise together above the madness.

It would have been eerie indeed, if Half-Blood Prince had 38 chapters, since that's how many chapters are in Order of the Phoenix.

Page (UK hardcover editions) and chapter counts so far:

Philosopher's Stone 223 17
Chamber of Secrets 251 18
Prisoner of Azkaban 317 22
Goblet of Fire 636 37
Order of the Phoenix 766 38

[By the way, for those of you not up on your magical creatures, a Kneazle is a sort of magical cat.]

They really don't talk about Kneazles in the books, but there is one kneazle that pops up quite frequently.

So does anyone know what these actual clues are?

The clues were just abour the size of the books weren't they? And to not belive what you read unless she wrote it, or something. Not plot clues.

Oh, I thought those things were just stating the obvious, but okay

I read something about her mentioning there are clues to who the Half Blood Prince is... but I forget where I read it and what she said

you know what, i think i might have it, i posted the clues bacwards, the lastone looks like it might have been froim the first book, and then the progretion of the clues goes through to the sixth (ie looking at each clue and seeing which book that information came from, and they were in order on the page) that makes the first clue in my list the clue for HBP

but the second last one must be from POA.... so maybe they're all jumbled...

O.K. I answered the easy ones. I won't attempt the others until I am not hopped up on cold medicine.

I guess the first one is the half blooded prince. The power and glory fall to me when the one who made me dies makes me think that. When the King dies, the prince becomes the King just an idea

The one about 2, 4 and 8 is half... This one I'm certain of

And I figure the one about the beating heart and while you live we can't part is blood... but... you know, blood isn't really locked inside your heart...

Dang......... found out these are just clues that you need to answer to get through to a note telling you that the book has been finished I already knew that.

I knew a good clue would be too much to ask
