I love Legolas because he's everything that I've ever pictured an elf to be. | | Reply To this Message

ON another note:
Who cares who is gay and who ain't gay (I know he is ) But he plays and excellent role in everything he is in IAN Mckellen RULES HE is a brillian actor and he pulls Gandalf off perfectly not to mention Magnito, has anyone seen Last Action Hero...he is death...he is a great actor, so unless you want a personal relationship with him leave his personal life out, and focus on his on screen performances!!!! | | Reply To this Message

He's not that big or great of a character, really, people just think he's good-looking. Me, I don't know. He's not bad, I suppose, but certaintly nothing to be squealing over. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: yoshi-55 | | Haldir is my favorite, but galadriel is right behind him, she is some hot stuff yo', but then comes legolas then aragorn, but gimli is some cool **** too man, its hard to pick which is my favorite out of the 'big three'

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Gollum is my favourite character, i think he was done really well in the movies, I was really worried when I heard that they were remaking the books into movies, i thought they would short-change the gollum character, but they did really well, that bit where he talks to himself was the best bit.
I love Liv Tyler as much as the next person and think that she is beautiful and a great actor, so this is not a comment on her, but I hate Arwen, I hate her, hate her, I see no reason at all for her be such a big part of the movies.
It is a waste of space that could have been used for things more important to the story and more true to the books. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: TearUUp | | Without a doubt...Smeagol/Gollum, is the most interesteing character in the whole movie. He aims to please, but at the same time he has that inner conflict going on. All he wants is his "precious" just give it to him for the love of God! | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Maja88 | | BTW, there's something about Gollum that's kind of interesting... i think he might be based on a character from an old, old book. Has anyone of you read 'Aulularia' by Plautus?? The play is a classic piece about - well, a stingy old man. The way he acts when it comes to his *gold* are so definitely Gollum-ish. But anyway, just a thought... | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: TearUUp | | Never heard of it, but it definitely sounds Gollumish. Hey, I remember walking out of the theater with my friends and I heard several females saying that they thought Smeagol was cute!? That is kind of sick! I think he's cool, but cute?
What's taters? Precious, what's taters? | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Maja88 | | That is sick, although i can understand it in a way. People just want to believe there's something good in Gollum. Just because he's so weak and low. They pity him i guess. Strange , but understandable in a way. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | I think a lot of us can relate to Gollum. We all want to be good people. However, we all have some vice that causes us to act ugly sometimes. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: TearUUp | | Uh... okay! Gollum is cool, but he was twisted by greed and corruption (sounds like all the police around here), and we all know what happens to Gollum in the end, right? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: TearUUp | | So, I take it that you don't like that ending, Heather? What would you have happen? | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | I completely accept the way that Tokien wrote his books and I respect his ending. However, I would've liked it if Gollum, or Smeogol, would've been freed from the corruption by Frodo and Sam's love and friendship. | | Reply To this Message

That would have made the ring easy to walk away from and would have diminished its power.

And do not forget that Smeagol lived many lifetimes with this ring in his posession. It is a miracle that any debate was made in his mind as to what to do. There is just some evil in the world that no amount of love can cure. Very sad, but true. Be glad that Gollum served a purpose.

Well, that is what makes a character great. They can have flaws, yet people still love them. Tolkien was the master.

Harmless? Remember he wanted to strangle Bilbo. Gollum is better off with what happened. He is out of his misery and Sauron is destroyed.

| Posted by: TearUUp | | I think that everyone liked him because just like everyone else... he is a walking contradiction...There were times people were probably hoping that he would just grab one of the Hobbits and wring their necks or stomps their "eyeses" out. But, then there were people like Heather, who truly wanted to believe that their was some latent good in Smeagol and he would become so due to the kindness shown to him by Frodo and Sam. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: TearUUp | | Yeah, I agree that Sam was needed...just as much as the rest of The Fellowship

| Posted by: Eoghanαn | | Faramir
He's so noble and sad - even more so in the book.
He takes upon him the task of soldiering, and does it well, despite the fact he doesn't like to kill; and when he rides out the last time, he knows it means death (well, thanks to Tolkien, he gets away, but he doesn't know ), and yet he never even blames this sad excuse of a father.
And David Wenham is just fine in the role. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | The movie doesn't really show how important Merry and Pippin are, but if you read the books, they are almost as important as Sam or Aragorn. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | In the book Merry plots Frodo's escape from the Shire. In the movie it is portrayed that Merry and Pippin just happen upon this adventure unintentionally. The movie audience don't get to appreciate Meriadoc Brandybuck's importance. And What about Fatty? The movie doesn't mention him does it? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Maja88 | | No way, Orlando looks great with a blond wig! He doesn't look better even with his original, dark hair. And Legolas the character is hot even in the books! Helluva combination. | | Reply To this Message

Billy Boyd is cute. And Pippin is so innocent and naive. You want to protect him.

| Posted by: Shadow Stalker | | well...i sorta waver between wanting to protect him, and wanting to feed him to an orc.

| Posted by: TearUUp | | Feed him to the orcs!!! No wait...the Uruk-hai!!!! Hey, I just played the LOTR ROTK Playstation 2 game over my X-Mas break...it was alright...a little too easy...
and Sam...that friggin' little hobbit is weak in that game too! Legolas is still a bada$s and easy to use in the game...but...I know think that Gandalf is pretty cool...I mean, any guy who makes his own fireworks is alright in my book, but I can slam that game from start to finish now in less that half an hour using Gandalf! The Hobbits however.... | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Evenstar_101 | | Well I love Aragorn. Ever since FOTR came out and I first saw him. Legolas would have to be my second fav. And Ewoyn she is so cool in the ROTK....... | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: TearUUp | | Aragorn is pretty cool, I mean it takes a strong guy to renounce his heritage and
just be some scuzzy looking ranger! But, he takes his rightful place after all, so that's cool! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Heatherhobbit | | He is scuzzy. I think that is what makes him so sexy. That's why I am laughing. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: TearUUp | | Scuzzy is sexy? Then why the hell do I shave? Oh, yeah, because it itches like hell and I look like a lumberjack from Arkansas when I don't! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Guys look good with just a little bit of a beard... really, really, REALLY close to the face!! That's not scuzzy... but, if you let it grow too much... bleck!! I just don't like that!! Viggo looked great like he is in RotK. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: TearUUp | | Nah, I keep a short goatee, but I can't stand it growing too long or on my throat or cheeks! You are a definite "Viggo" fan aren't ya? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: TearUUp | | That's what I figured considering ya'll didn't call him Aragorn! Nope, Viggo! That, and the drooling sounds! | | Reply To this Message
