Actress Liv Tyler gave birth to a baby boy early Tuesday morning, PEOPLE has learned.
The baby, who has yet to be named, was born at 4:11 a.m. at an undisclosed New York hospital and weighed in at 8 lbs. According to a source close to Tyler, she "had a relatively short labor and easy delivery." She felt terrific later in the morning. "My baby is so handsome I can't stand it," Tyler told a friend earlier today. "He also has full lips."
"They're thrilled," Tyler's publicist, Stephen Huvane, tells PEOPLE. "And they hope to have a name soon."
This is the first child for Tyler, 27, and her rock singer husband, Royston Langdon, 32. The Lord of the Rings star married Langdon, formerly the lead singer of the band Spacehog, on March 25, 2003, in Barbados after a two-year engagement.
When Tyler's pregnancy was announced over the summer, she said, "Roy and I are both overjoyed and look forward to the arrival of our child."
Tyler is the daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and ex-groupie-turned-singer Bebe Buell, who raised Liv with rocker Todd Rundgren.
At the time the couple got married, Buell told PEOPLE: "I can't wait to see (my) grandchildren. They're going to be gorgeous!"

Well I think it is more normal than many of the names actors are giving their kids these days. Look at Madonna's kid. She named him Rocco.

With a pale, puffy face and dark rings around the eyes, it is fair to say that actress Liv Tyler was not looking her best. But her exhausted appearance will probably win her an army of fans - among new mothers around the world.
They will see her as a welcome exception to the celebrity mums who appear to regain their vitality with impossible ease, days after baby arrives.

But yesterday, as she returned from a walk with baby Milo, she appeared to have been suffering more than her fair share of sleepless nights.
Perhaps the actress, who played the elf queen Arwen in the Oscar-winning films, is also paying the price of the rigorous training schedule on which she has embarked to regain her figure. Her trainer, David Kirsch, has devised a plan which includes two weeks of intensive cardiovascular exercise for around two hours a day and a strict diet.
"Liv is anxious to get started with the exercise program," Kirsch said. "She has gorgeous legs and didn't gain weight there. We need to focus on her abs and arms. For nine months, it was all about the baby. Now it's about reconnecting with herself."
Liv is the daughter of Steven Tyler, singer with the rock group Aerosmith, and Bebe Buell, a former Playboy Playmate, groupie and singer. In 2003 she married 30-year-old Langdon, a singer and multiinstrumentalist with the group Spacehog.
Of course Liv looks tired, she just had a baby and unlike us mere mortals she is expected to lose her baby fat in ten minutes, not ten months. And, lets face it, she's out for a morning walk, she's not glammed up for a premiere. If she turned up for an opening night looking like that, then I might worry, but it's just her everyday look. Give the girl a break. I think she still looks good.
Liv Tyler stays connected – maybe checking on 4-month-old son Milo? – during a stroll through New York City's Village. The actress has been on hiatus from film work for several months so that she can spend more time with her boy (whose dad is rocker husband Royston Langdon).
I bet she's relieved to finally have it out, she was huge, HUGE!, and she looked tired the last few weeks.
