Live Free Or Die Hard (2007) (was Die Hard 4.0) |
| Posted by: gaboman | | Yes, that's right, Die Hard 4.0. According to imdb, the story revolves around McClaine and his daughter getting mixed up with some terrorist activity while on holiday... hopefully not christmas again. Since his daughter must be, like, 20 now, she better be hot.
I personally think Die Hard rocked, and Die Hard with a Vengence wasn't too bad, so I've got high hopes for this being a pretty intense action/thriller.
We'll see in 2006, I guess. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | I just heard about this (didn't see your post before) they are revisiting all the old series, we've got a new Rocky, a new Rambo, possibly a new Terminator in the works. They just can't leave well enough alone can they?
Any word on who's playing his daughter yet? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | This is another movie marred in 'developmental hell'. They haven't began filming and I doubt they've even finished on a screenplay they like. I wouldn't hold my hopes up for this.
Rumors circulate about these sequels every few years. Just like Indiana Jones, Lethal Weapon, or Rocky. I'll believe it when I see it.

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Bruce Willis to star in another 'Die Hard' sequel
The Hollywood actor, who shot to fame playing hardened cop John McClane in the original film, says he is finally ready to reprise the famous role after previously insisting he was turning his back on action movies.
He said: "It's 'Die Hard 4.0'. They're working on the script right now. Doug Richardson, who wrote my latest movie 'Hostage', is typing away furiously. It's a really interesting idea. And it's the first one that Fox has liked, so we'll see."
It is not yet known when filming on the project might begin and the ageing star is remaining tight-lipped about the plot. He added in an interview with Britain's Maxim magazine: "I can't tell you a thing about the plot though. But John McClane is retired. I can tell you that much."

So it doesn't seem definate yet. They're still writing and if they write it and Fox doesn't like the finished product, it still might only be a pipe dream.
I'd assume he's so "tight-lipped" about the plot, because he doesn't know any more than that. It's not been written yet.

| Posted by: gaboman | | Even if they don't like the end script, they may just green light it to get money | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: schmiggens | | They might green light a bad script, but would Bruce still be in it with a bad script? I don't think so. And I don't think Fox can pull it off with a bad script and no Bruce. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: gaboman | | Ah, that's true. I think it'll be good anyway, I generally like the Die Hard flicks. Just as long as it's non-stop action and not many needless plot lines, I'll be happy. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | I don't know, do we really need another Die Hard movie? The first one was dope as hell. The second and third were ok.

| Posted by: gaboman | | Maybe he had an early retirement, man
I seriously wouldn't mind another Die Hard. I like the first one the most, of course, and the third is pretty cool, I didn't like the second so much. But, seriously, I'll enjoy it a lot more than a lot of the lame excuses for action movies that have come out in, like, the last ten years. Too many government conspiracies and cover-ups and all kinds of weird and funky deals going on, it'll be nice to just have a straight "let's kill those terrorists, even though though I'm outnumbered, out gunned and 60 years old" movie | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | Justin To Star In New Bruce Movie
Justin Timberlake is reportedly set to star in the latest Die Hard film as Bruce Willis' son. The pop pin-up met Bruce while making his new movie Alpha Dog.
Bruce, who plays John McClane in the action series, was reportedly so impressed with Timberlake's performance he's signed him up to play John McClane Junior in the fourth instalment of the film.
The singer has recently branched into acting, staring in the movies Edison and Alpha Dog, both due for release later this year.
Die Hard would be his blockbuster debut.
Movie boss Alec Gillies said: "The film has got a great cast with Sharon Stone, Bruce Willis, Justin Timberlake and a bunch of people my daughter recognises but I don't."

| Posted by: schmiggens | | I'm hearing good things about Justin in the other two movies, but I don't know, you never know whether to trust these things you hear. Actors like to big eachother up, especially when it's a newcomer and a big star. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: gaboman | | That's true, but actors don't need to be good for action roles, so this one'll work out alright. | | Reply To this Message

Oh god damnit. If Justin Timberlake isn't the kiss of death, I don't know what is.

| Posted by: HECK! | | It does sound pretty weak. An boy-band fruit in a Die Hard movie? Not good for business.

| Posted by: brochu13 | | Agreed. Alan Rickman should make a return, while he's totally been type-cast, he has teh evil villian down to a T and I really do like him. Maybe Paul Newman would be a good casting descision. I just got done watching Road to Perdition and he just shines in that. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Sayzak | | Let me guess, Britney Spears plays Bruce's daughter, and there a bunch of inuendo's to suggest perhaps Bruce's new parter (JT) and his Daughter hooked up. JT will save Bruce's life, and he'll have to forgive him for sleeping with his daughter. Then Samual L Jackson will jump out of the woodwork and invite them over for a Christmas Dinner. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | I updated the thread title based on the new working title for the next John McClane outing. Live Free Or Die Hard? Meh, sounds weak. Better than 'Die Harder' though.

| Posted by: HECK! | | "Die Hard" breaks "Free" next June
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The fourth installment of Bruce Willis' "Die Hard" action series will hit theaters on June 29, distributor 20th Century Fox said Wednesday.
"Live Free or Die Hard" is scheduled to begin production next month. Len Wiseman (the "Underworld" movies) is directing. At one point, the film was titled "Die Hard 4.0."
The story centers on an attack on America's computer infrastructure that begins to shut the country down. The mysterious figure behind the scheme has figured out every digital angle but never counts on Willis' old-fashioned, "analog" character, John McClane.
The three "Die Hard" films, released in 1988, 1990 and 1995, have earned $740 million worldwide and influenced a generation of action filmmaking. The franchise also made then-TV actor Willis into a bona fide film star.
At this stage, the new film's main rival on June 29 will be Disney's Pixar-produced cartoon "Ratatouille."

| Posted by: HECK! | | I liked the first one, never saw the sequel. I will see Die Hard 4 whoever it was directed by, even Joel Schumacher. Just hope they try to get back to the old school original. Too much flash and flare would ruin it.

| Posted by: gaboman | | Was going to do this the other day when I read about it on IMDB, but I couldn't find the trailer... then I just forgot about it and went to steal some cookies from a coworker.
Trailer makes it look action packed. Not too sure if there was any story there.... but I'll definitely be checking it out. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Sierradaddy | | That has got to be the craziest trailer I've seen in a LONG time. I'm so THERE opening night. This movie BETTER LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS, though...
Oh, and the Justin in the trailer is Justin Long, of Accepted and Jeepers Creepers fame, as well as Dodge Ball and the "critically acclaimed" Crossroads. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: gaboman | | I'd like to kill whatever critics acclaimed Crossroads
I remember Justin Long from Ed. The dude was hilarious. Don't know how he fits into the new Die Hard movie, but I'm gonna find out - that's for sure. | | Reply To this Message

Just read this. Surprised you haven't seen the sequel, man. I got the 3 pack of DVDs for like about 15 US bucks, you should look out for something similar.
Die Hard is a classic; hands down the best action movie of all time. You can argue all you want, but you'll still be wrong. Nobody could argue it's the best of the series at least. Die Harder was alright, kinda like the first one, but at an airport... good flick. My uncle swears by it as being almost as good as the original. I don't think so, but that's me. Die Hard with a Vengence was awesome, I thought. Kept me on the edge of my seat when I first saw it... though in retrospect, it's kinda lame in its premise.
Seriously dude, have a die hard marathon before you see the new one

Oh man, are you nuts? I've seen all the Die Hard movies.
I looked back at that post and someone right before me mentioned Underworld. I never saw the sequel to that movie.
Loved all the Die Hard flicks. Saw them all in the theater.
The second was no way near as good as the first. Renny Harlin directed it so that should tell you something.
The third was fun. Jeremy Irons is awesome. Sam Jackson was good as the sidekick.

| Posted by: Lawless | | The first Die Hard was great. The second was okay. The third was better than the second. This fourth one better shake it all up and leave us Die Hard fans feeling like it was all worth it. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Sierradaddy | | From the trailer that I saw, I'd say we're in for at least a good shaking up. Lots of hits, chases, explosions, and what appears to be a nice little injection of humour (the only words said in that trailer left me cracking a smile/smirk right alongside John McClane). Classic Die-Hard formula, if you ask me, and there's nothing wrong with that. I agree, I'm gonna have to catch this one in the theatre. There I'll be amongst other Die-Hard fans, and we can all react similarly to all the great things I expect will be in the movie. | | Reply To this Message

Ah, got it.
I don't really even remember the first... vampires and werewolves, and this chick falls in love with some werewolf and it's all like Romeo and Juliet (Gayest. Shakespear. Ever) 'cause her father don't like the idea. Something like that. It was dull.
why didn't I see all the Die Hard movies in the theatres? Oh, right, cause I saw the first one on TV when I was like 6.
The thing that always made the Die Hard movies (to me) was the tension - could have all the explosions in the world, and it'd still just be Mission Impossible with someone who's at least cool in the starring roll. But Die Hard always had that "oh my god, how's he gonna beat the terrorists against all odds" thing going for it. Also, him sneaking around on glass with no shoes on made it pretty awesome.

| Posted by: HECK! | | I was pretty young when I saw the first one in the theater. It was a double feature with Big.
The first one worked so well because you were tense, on the edge of your seat the whole time. There's a sense of dire urgency.
The walking barefoot on glass part was classic. What always makes me cringe is when he wraps that hose around his waist and jumps off the building. He shoots out a window and climbs in but the hose deal falls and starts pulling him back out the window. Nuts.

| Posted by: gaboman | | Yeah, the hose thing's cool. I always liked the scene where McClaine shoots the terrorist in the nuts through the table too.
Ah, **** it, the whole thing's just sweet. Even all that "fists with your toes" crap (which is so true, btw). | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | I dig quoting Die Hard. A buddy and I were hanging out at the bar and some drama was going down and I look at him and go, "come out to the coast, we'll get together; have a few laughs." Not totally fitting, but it was comedy.
The "Now I Have A Machine Gun, HO-HO-HO" part is still one of my favorites.
