| The US hardline on Iran by some in Washington could have one of two effects: it could either get Iran to quite trying to make a nuclear bomb or it could make them more determined.
ElBaradei is now saying Iran is not a threat.
"Iran does not represent an imminent nuclear threat," ElBaradei told El Pais newspaper, explaining why the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) decided not to refer Iran to the UN Security Council for threatened sanctions over its nuclear programme."

If the US pushes too hard and Iran fears an attack is inevitalbe, could it actually ensure a nuclear Iran? If I was ruling the country that would seem the only certain way of avoiding being attacked by America. Europe's fear could be that no amount of evidence from Iran is going to convince Washington that Iran is nuclear free and that invasion plans have already been made. | |
