UN Talks to Review Where 'Dangerous' Warming Starts

A decade after the world pledged to prevent "dangerous" global warming, 194 nations meet next week to review whether rare heatwaves and a fast Arctic thaw may signal that the planet is nearing the brink.

President Bush pulled out in 2001 from the 128-nation Kyoto protocol, which seeks to cut greenhouse gas emissions by five percent from 1990 levels by 2012. Bush argued it was too expensive and wrongly excluded developing nations.
