| Report: IBM To Spin Off PC Unit

IBM is selling its PC business, marking the end of an era for the personal computing pioneer, according to a story published today in the New York Times. The report was not verified by IBM, which could not be reached for comment this morning.
According to the Times, the sale is worth some US$2 billion, and would include all desktop, laptop and notebook machines made by Big Blue. One likely buyer is China's Lenovo, the newspaper reported. |
These guys are seriously going out on a limb reporting this when IBM has specifically responded with the following:

| "It is IBM's practice not to comment on rumors or speculation. When we have something to announce, we will," an IBM spokesman told CNN Business News. |
I find it highly foolish to try and make a name for yourself scooping a story without facts when the subject of the story denies anything and makes you look foolish. | |
