| China tests ballistic missile submarine

China's military has launched the first of a new class of ballistic missile submarines in what defense officials view as a major step forward in Beijing's strategic weapons program.
The new 094-class submarine was launched in late July and when fully operational in the next year or two will be the first submarine to carry the underwater-launched version of China's new DF-31 missile, according to defense officials.

They're in dangerous waters now. This gives them undeniable ability for nuclear strike anywhere on the globe. I hope they realize that they are taking a big risk with this type of endeavor as the U.S., U.K. and Russia have maintained maritime advantage since WW2 and have decades more experience hiding from, hunting down and destroying enemy vessels. How long do you think it'll take the U.S. to secretly attach tracking devices to the hulls of these puppies so that we can sink them with 15 minutes notice on any given day of the week?
I really don't like hearing about pushes for more advanced, highly destructive weapons here or abroad. It gives the impression that these people feel threatened by us and we by them. That things may get REAL ugly and we all want to be as prepared as possible to completely destroy every living organism on this planet.
I REALLY wish China would stop trying to take over every Chinese speaking conutry and claim it as their own. Taiwan is independent - leave them the hell alone! Surely they have big eyes over over Taiwan's big industrial growth, but they neglect to consider the consequences in terms of international trade if there was a forced take-over which would negate the advantages they're so hot for. Chinese political agenda REALLY pisses me off. | |
