New information on the last suicide bombing that occured on the 29th April shows that the terrorist has a British/N.Ireland passport. He was a British Arab.

It appears that he was NOT alone. Another British Arab, his friend, is wandering around Tel Aviv even NOW. His explosives didn't work. He encountered some people on the streets but managed to run away.

They've managed to get to the (Palestinian) territories with the help of foreign terror organizations.

This suicide bombing could have killed more people, if the security guard had not guarded the entrance with his body, his life. Just a week ago, another security guard, Russian-Israeli Alexander was killed by guarding the entrance with his body. No one else was killed, only injured, 15 people.

They are heroes for sacrifing themselves for others.

----

Another developments:

IDF has removed 2 illegal Jewish settlements this week, one of them today.

A security guard mistakenly killed a Palestinian suspecting him as a terrorist. The Palestinian turned out to be a worker in Kibbutz Beit-Ha-Arava and was on his way home in a bus when it stopped and he went out, probably to 'do his needs'. The guard told him to stop but he didn't and was shot. The guard claims he acted according to the Arresting-a-Suspect procedure. An Israeli investigation has been opened.

keep those posts coming anti! it's nice to see both sides here. you have done a tremendous service with your rational updates, not the irrational diatribes done by most! thank you!

Thank you Grets! Your posts are rational too. I like reading your posts.

I wanted to post more, but since even in the "Iraq" thread people barely read daily updates and articles, and looking now at the amount of views this post has gained (2... me and you, lol) I see no reason to post much about the events, even though there are some, everyday.

anti- there are more views than posts! just check the view numbers, people will read! anyway, a sane voice needs to be heard, and who better than someone living the events? the iraq section is filled with alot of people who hate, both sides. so i tend to read these sections, and you my friend are interesting. i haven't seen rage lately, but he also is very interesting and working for better understanding. he is saudi. you both have really changed my views on things! keep it up. i'll look for your posts, you are being heard as Michelle will and has testified to!

Anti- i 'd like to know if there are any arab and jewish students studying together in israel. and if so, what is the university relationship between these groups? thanks!

I'm not sure about the Palestinians, but Israeli-Arabs and Israeli-Jews study together in universities along with Druses and maybe Bedouins as well. As it is a democratic country, everybody gets equal rights, though some people may discriminate as it happens in the whole world.

There are Universities in the territories for Palestinians. For example the An-Najah National University in Nablus.

By the way, I've managed to contact a few Palestinians through ICQ. One of them works in Israel, the other one in Ramallah. They seem to be nice people, hoping for peace. The first one has Israeli friends. But they don't really like to talk much about politics.

I'm going to be drafted to the army this July, 4 months before the original date. I could have gone to a university or a college, but colleges here are like high schools and if you go to a university, you'll need to serve additional 3-4 years in the army (so that university + the army = 8-10 years), however, the first 3 years you'll work for the army in the profession that you chose to study in the university (ie. if you studied computers, you'll have a job with computers in the army) getting paid twice more than a normal soldier ($120/month) and the other 3-4 years you'll work for the army and will be paid a normal salary, depending on your profession. The difference between going to the university before the army and after it is that if you go before, the army gives you scholarship that covers most of the tuition.

If you refuse to go to the army, you go to jail. If you try to escape to a different country after you're called to the army (you're usually called to the army at age 16-16.5 to pass some tests), if you come back, you'll go to jail or will serve in the army.

After you finish your 3 years (or 6-7 years, if you went to a university before the army) you will have to go back to the army 1 month every year until the age of 45-50, depending on your duty.

Despite all that, some people say they're having lots of fun being with friends, experiencing challenges, etc.
Others though, don't. They wish they weren't drafted at all. On average, 1 soldier per week commits suicide.

Not everybody, however, goes to combat units. I'd like to know what really happens in the territories, I'd like to know who lies and who tells the truth, I'd like to see it with my eyes - but this knowledge can cost me my life and this knowledge may not contribute much. I don't think I can hurt a fly so I'll probably not fit in the combat units. Doesn't matter what unit I'll serve in, I'll get closer to the truth.

damned if you do, damned if you don't. well, what ever happens, know this- there are people you have never met who hold you in their thoughts. may the best always be at your feet, and may God be with you in all that you face! thank you for your thoughts on the students! i hope that the youth of the region will overcome the political powers and bring about a more peaceful situation.

AJ, your post really touched me. Your seek for truth makes a hero of you.

I hope you don't get pushed to kill anyone or be killed, and i hope this doesn't leave a scar in your life.

Stay safe..

Thanks Grets and Rage.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to serve in the combat units so that I'll get as close as possible to the conflict. Even if I become a regular soldier who works in the office, I'd still be in touch with many soldiers who would have many stories to tell. But if combat units aren't risky as they sound, maybe it'd be worth to join one of them. We'll see when the times comes...

I've visited AL-Najah's University official site and found a page of Palestinian students' reports of IDF's abuses. There are dozens of stories of different horrible acts that IDF has supposedly done. I was shocked by the stories because it is hard to believe that IDF would do such things and it's also hard to believe that Palestinian students would make up such horrible stories in order to incite.

I've noticed many false reports by Palestinians, but can these stories be false reports too?

You can read these stories at the official site, but don't be too believing... http://www.najah.edu -> The impact of the imposed Israeli occupation siege on An-Najah students.

(Note: An-Najah and Al-Najah seem to be different names of universtities but both are in Nablus. It seems to be the same University.)

I see IDF soldiers everyday when I walk outside. I'm gonna be one of them soon. They're civilized people who received good education both at home and in schools. IDF HUNTS soldiers who dare to do something un-humanitarian like mentioned in these stories, and these soldiers get serious punishments if they do anything like this. Saying that the whole IDF is corrupted would be definitely wrong as there are too many moral-convicted people who'd do something about it and at least it would get to the media.

Anyway, I found a report today that explains why these stories are most likely untrue:
http://www.ict.org.il/articles/arti...m?articleid=445

It seems that this university is VERY anti-Israeli. About a dozen of its students were suicide bombers or terrorists of other kind. Other students participated in recreating suicide attacks in exhibitions and plays. Even the professors sent a letter to Arabic sattelite TV: We the undersigned, professors, academicians and scholars denounce and oppose the actions of the satellite television stations, particularly Al-Jazeera, Abu Dhabi and MBC, which beautify the occupation by regularly hosting 'Israeli' personalities. We fear these stations will become podiums that will be exploited by the Zionists. We call for rapid action to terminate this phenomenon, which causes damage to the Palestinians.

The university is funded by the UN (and Hamas, of course).

I believe the stories about IDF soldiers commiting such crimes are as true as Jews eating Arabic babies on Pesach. I have served in IDF and I haven't seen such things even though at the time, I served close to Palestinians and was on a daily contact with them.

Did you get my pm? I've read you're going to IDF soon! Good Luck with that, buddy! Now. reading your posts makes me miss it!! Oh nostalgia!

There is one not really bad loophole of how to get out of service, in case you'll ever think about it. PM me.

Do you know of any Israeli message boards around? I can't find any! Thanks!

And I already have one star! This is awsam!!! LOL!

Oh! looks like I got two PMs... I never check and I never knew until you told me It's at the bottom so it's hard to see.

I'll read it now and reply. As for an Israeli forum, I remember I bumped into one a few weeks ago, let me look for it...
