FireFox 1.0 Browser kicking butts

Firefox is the latest & greatest reincarnation of the famed Mozilla web browser code base; completely open source, it is challenging Microsoft's IE for market dominance with claims of stronger performance and security features then IE offers. With all the problems plaguing IE in the last few years, it's little wonder that 8 million Internet users have already downloaded the new release. The same group is also offering a full featured email client application called Thunderbird which will give Microsoft a run for it's money invested into it's own Outlook email applicaation. The combination of the two new software packages from Mozilla stand to close up about 95% of the most commonly exploited security problems with Microsoft Windows platforms.

My trusty co-worker brought Firefox up in a meeting last Friday.
I just might have to try it out...anything for greater security if ya know what I mean?

Yeah I spent some quality time with it last night. I'm impressed. I've been designing websites for IE and Netscape for nearly 10 years (since 1995). Early on I was a Netscape fan hell bent on hating anything Microsoft. Then I realized what a superior browser IE was to NS and made the switch. Now I'm on Firefox - and I won't look back. (Though I will pull up IE from time to time for sanity checks on web design work )

It is SCREAMING fast. Wooh doggies.
I can't believe how fast it is.

Think I've lost some security features working with some other anonymizing programs and my firewall.
I will see what I can tweak.
Good so far.

yeah it's not perfect yet, but it's darn good. One of the best open source implementations I've seen yet. I'm actually submitting bug reports to their support system as I find them. Anything I can do to help..

I've used it for about 4? months now. Updated to 1.0 just recently.

Tweaked and happy happy happy.

It allows me to change security settings that IE would not allow me to set.

I've not had one intrusion detection yet. With IE that baby goes off like crazy.

Sweet.

I've used firefox for ages, never going back.

Mozilla Outfoxing Microsoft

I've been using it since I posted here and haven't had a need to revert back to IE yet. There are only a few minor problems I've encountered and I have been proactively involved in bug reporting and communication with developers. So far so good!

Aye. I have been using it too, and its pretty good. Of course, there are some missing plugins, especially for Microsoft-owned multimedia formats, but otherwise it is pretty good.

Damn you mozilla!!!

Everything was peachy for months...I installed the 1.5 beta version.

Then tonight, it automatically runs the 1.5 beta 2 and THERE IS A FREAKIN 1.5 INCH OF FOOTER AT THE BOTTOM OF MY PAGE with <menuitem id="menu_HelpPopup_reportertoolmenu" that FREAKIN WON'T GO AWAY!

I got a report for them!.. That 1.5 beta2 just ain't happenin!

So, now I'll have to download v1.7 uninstall this crap and install 1.7. pissonit

I'm still going along fine. Firefox has NEVER let me down yet... I use it pretty much exclusively now. Only time I use IE is when I access hotmail, which is getting fewer and more far between because my hotmail inbox is full of emails from companies who seem to operate off of spamming.

Well, I uninstalled, then reinstalled then it updated without a glitch.

I was busy yesterday and didn't want to deal....besides I was doing some heavy duty crunching and burning while it chose to download and install the updates without a prompt.

I've been using Firefox for a couple of weeks now, and just started using Thunderbird as my mail client. I'm pretty impressed. I don't see myself ever using IE or Outlook Express again.
