Married pop stars Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson came through for ABC, leading the network to a rare Sunday ratings victory with their "Nick and Jessica Variety Hour" special. The hour-long "Nick and Jessica," an experiment with a throwback to the Sonny & Cher era of hip musical comedy-variety, easily won its hour and ABC has called for future episodes from the "Newlyweds" couple, after originally proclaiming it to be a one-off variety special.

Pop couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are so happy with the success of their variety show, they're now planning another one for Christmas.

"The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour" aired on Easter Sunday and earned strong ratings for ABC, which prompted bosses to give the pair the go-ahead for a Yuletide special.

According to reports, bosses at ABC are also eyeing other performers for TV specials, after they scored a rare win among young adults with Simpson and Lachey's show.

The show attracted a total of 11.5 million viewers.
