Jessica Simpson, ABC Reach Sitcom Deal

LOS ANGELES - Jessica Simpson (news), the singer famous for dippy-blonde moments on her MTV reality show, has reached a deal with ABC to develop a comedy.


"Jessica has infectious energy and unmistakable star quality," ABC Entertainment President Susan Lyne said Friday. "She also has a built-in fan base in both music and television, which is a great jumping off point for us."


Simpson, 23, and her husband, Nick Lachey, also agreed to a second season of their reality show, "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica."


The series made Simpson infamous for unintentional humor, including the time she confused the tuna she was eating for chicken.


"Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish?" she asked Lachey, 29, in the show's first episode. "I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken by the Sea.'"

Pop beauty Jessica Simpson's newfound status as a reality TV star has helped land her a new deal to have her own sitcom.

The "Irresistable" singer, who stars alongside her husband Nick Lachey in TV hit "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," has inked a deal with ABC to develop a comedy.

ABC Entertainment president Susan Lyne says, "Jessica has infectious energy and unmistakable star quality."

In "Newlyweds," Simpson has attracted much mockery for such antics as failing to tell the difference between chicken and fish and believing Buffalo wings were made of buffalo meat.

Is she ever going to live that "chicken of the sea" thing down? Poor thing, it keeps coming back to haunt her. You gotta feel kind of sorry for her.

hope the dumb is an act... or my god... to muxh hair dye... something. Like to hear her sing tho... pretty voice.


dont think she treats Nick very well at times... she seems to look down on him... bugs me...

What? I think it's the other way around, Nick is always treating her badly, teasing her and not listening to her. But he did take her away for that Balloon ride and stuff. I don't know

Newlyweds

This might seem wierd for me to ask, but who Nick Lachey? He used to be in some kind of boy-band right? Is he heaps older than Jessica?

Give Me Just One Night Uno Nouche, yes I know that song. Only that song though, never heard of 98 degrees before or after that. I have not heard him Solo except for the bits they showed on Newlyweds.

He is almost 10 years older than Jessica! Wierd. I had no idea. He doesn't look that old.
