EMINEM'S 'FATHER' COMMITS SUICIDE

Rapper Eminem is inconsolable after discovering the uncle he called "dad" killed himself.

The rap star's real father deserted him when he was a baby so he was raised by Todd Nelson, who shot himself in the head, allegedly because he was being terrorized by a sheriff's rottweiler.

Nelson is Eminem's second close relative to kill himself -- the hip-hop artist's other uncle, Ronnie Mathers, killed himself last year following a traumatic break-up.

A family friend explains, "This news has hit him hard. It will bring back all the memories of losing Ronnie. To lose two uncles at such a young age is terribly sad, especially as his father has never been around. The fact they both committed suicide is so tragic."

Eminem's grandmother tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Todd had been upset about a rottweiler owned by a local sheriff who was causing problems for his family. The dog scared his girlfriend's son and scratched their car.

"But when he complained to police, they wouldn't do anything about it. He shot himself in his car in his own backyard. My grandson, Todd Jr., found his body."

Why didn't he shoot the dog?

I don't know if I can buy this story or not. It sounds kind of funny to me. It almost seems as if Todd was mentally disturbed. The dog kept harassing him so he shot himself?! I'm beginning to wonder if there was really even a dog to begin with.

That's what I mean. He shot himself over a dog? Who does that? You've got to be a bit unstable to start with.

EMINEM SKIPS UNCLE'S FUNERAL

Hip-hop star Eminem decided to stay away from his uncle Todd Nelson's funeral last week -- because he "can't handle" the sad ceremonies.

Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, formed a close relationship with Nelson in the absence of his biological father. But while he paid for the Michigan funeral, he opted against attending.

The rapper's uncle Steven Robert Nelson says, "Marshall can't handle funerals. I know he would have been there if at all possible."

Eminem's grandmother Berry Kresin adds, "The family is very grateful and appreciative of what Marshall has done to help out."
