She's killing off ANOTHER character

Book 6: HP & the Half-Blood Prince Forum

I come home from a nice night out with my flatmates to discover (on the Sun webpage) that JK Rowling is planning on killing off another character in HP and tHBP... I don't know what she's thinking. Now the guessing of who it could be has started. I don't know why but my initial thought is that it will be the Grangers. But that's just my gut instinct... any thoughts?

Well, I suspect that by the end of the series, there will be several characters that die. Dumbledore, Hagrid, Bill, Charlie, and Lupin all seem to be at risk. I also see Mr. Weasley possibly being in danger. It's anyone's guess who the deaths are going to be.

I can accept any deaths, except for the trio. If any of the trio die, it will be too painful for me to ever read the books again. I will gently wrap them up in plastic, put them in a box, and never read them again. I will mourn the death of any of the three main characters. I also wouldn't like the message that she would be sending to children, that if you are brave and stand up to evil you will die.

She does plan on killing off more characters. She even apologizes for it.

I think it'll be Hagrid who dies.

I hope not Hagrid I've always really liked his character I'm not one for guessing games, so I'm not even going to try to guess....

Hagrid would be a very sad loss. He was the first one to make Harry feel wanted. He bought him his first real birthday present.


I think some of the deaths will be unexpected. For some reason I think McGonagall might be one.

perhaps Corneillus Fudge will die.

Fudge is a likely one to die. That would explain the New Minister.

I think it will be one of the teachers.The Dark Lord will most likely kill a teacher that represents a danger to him or his plans.Hagrid isn't a threat to him so it would not be likely to be him.Hagrid will most likely die in book 7

Why does everyone have to die?

Maybe we should focus on the dark side. Maybe one of the death eaters or their sympathizers will die. Now that is a happy thought.

The death of a Death Eater is not important enaugh to be mentioned.It will probably be a character that is loved by most reader's.Sorry but it's the cold,hard truth.Muahaha

Ha...Molfoy will be in all the books.He is one of the original bad guys.He might die in the last book.Butt he'll live this one.

If Lucius dies, it will be toward the end of the series. Rowling has said that her books will get darker, so we need to prepare ourselves for the worst.

It could be Filch.he is a squib.Or it could one of the Creevary(sp?) brothers.Or both.

I don't think both of the Creevey kids will survive. They seem vulnerable. They are muggle born and that would shake Hermione up.

I think it might be Dumbledore, leaving Harry to fight the last battle on his own.

That would make sense.....

I wouldn't really care either, but it would devastate Mrs. Weasley. Especially since they probably wouldn't be on the best of terms when/if he dies.

Molly would be devastated, but if he lives, his arrogance could lead to more people being killed.

it could be any of the Weasley sons couldn't it. My friend said she thought it'd be Fred or George but for some reason I can't imagine that. Percy is a good option but then again so are Bill and Charlie.

I can't imagine H, R or Hr dying in any of the books. I would not survive.

On the main Harry Potter page, I have a thread with odds that the bookmakers are taking on who will die. Hagrid is in the lead.

I think I would care if Percy died, but only for the Weasley's sake. He's a pompous, blind idiot.

I could deal with any death except for the main trio.

Hagrid is one of my favorites too. He is so unusual.

Hagrid is not one of my favorites. He annoys me a bit, and the whole Gwarp storyline bores me to tears. I don't want him to die, but I don't love him like I do the trio.

I may be a bit sad if she kills off Remus. I like him more than Hagrid.

I wish she wouldn't have told us she's killing off another character, the agony of waiting and wondering is tortuous. I'd rather it be a complete shock.
That's how it was for me the last books, I knew nothing because I wasn't reading up on anything about the upcoming books.

Well, she's always said that there will be deaths in her books, but she also said that there would be one death that would be very difficult to write. I think that was Sirius. I think we've already experienced the worst death, judging by her interviews.

well I didn't really care when Sirius died. So if the next one won't be as bad I'm not worried AT ALL!!!

On the other hand I seem to get attached to characters other people don't seem to care much about. So if she kills of someone less important odds are I'll love that person and be devestated...

I've been gone for a while, Springsteen has been touring and I've been following that.

I have a theory. JKR says this time will be Harry's shortest stay at Privet Drive. Why? Because Voldemort will kill them. Dumbledoor will come get him with the order and Harry will stay at Grimmauld place. What about after Hogwarts?

Harry turns 17 in book 7, the age when you turn into an adult, he'll get his own house or remain at Grimmauld place.

[Hollywood News]: London, Oct 21 : Harry Potter's love being killed in the the sixth book has prompted thousands of the wizard's fans into wagering a bet on the matter.

Thousands of dollars are at stake on the life of Cho Chang, whom Harry Potter author J K Rowling plans to eliminate in the sixth book titled Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.

According to The Sun, internet firm Blue Square has reported a flood of bets on Harry's love interest on Wednesday night.

"It's very odd. Even the betting pattern has been a bit mysterious.A lot of people have opened accounts in the middle of the night and placed their first-ever bets on Cho Chang being killed off.This suggests they at least think they know something," Blue Square spokesman Ed Pownall was quoted as saying.

"The maximum punt for this kind of bet is #100 and we've had a few of them as well as several of 50 pounds.This has forced us to cut the odds on Cho by more than half from 8-1 to 3-1. But much more money for young Cho and it looks like she could be hanging up her wand forever," he added.

However, a spokesman for Rowling who had revealed her death plot in a website chat , has called the Cho rumours "pure speculation".

A bludger rushes by Cho, slamming into her hand. We hear her cry "AHH!! I broke a-" as she's cut short by the bludger coming back and giving her more to worry about than a nail. ^_^
