| I didn't even REALIZE this, but when I did a spell-check to be sure I typed "Hippocratic" correctly, I decided to follow up with actually READING the oath itself...
I came across this:
"I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art."
When I originally thought of posting this thread, I was thinking along the lines of "I won't cause further harm due to my actions". I didn't even KNOW that there was actually a part of the Oath that speaks against abortion...
My question still stands: Do doctors still TAKE the Hippocratic Oath? If they still do, then SHOULD they, since they perform abortions? | |
