I like your idea about Voldemort being with Quirrell after the failed attempt at Gringotts.

Someone is supposed to switch houses in the next book. It is a confirmed rumour.

I think Jk probably intended to have important things go along with halloween when she started the series, but I don't really think it has had much imporance in the most recent books, heck it wasnt even mentioned in the fifth one was it?
