| World Music Awards to honour Celine Dion with Diamond Award
MONTREAL : Canadian pop diva Celine Dion will receive a special honour at the World Music Awards next week for being the top-selling female artist of all time, a Montreal newspaper said on Friday.
"It's simply incredible," Dion's husband and manager, Rene Angelil, told the Journal de Montreal.
"I have goose bumps just talking about it," said Angelil, who told the tabloid his wife will be given the Diamond Award during Wednesday's World Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Veteran Hollywood actor Michael Douglas will hand Dion the award.
The newspaper, citing Sony figures, noted that the 36-year-old singing sensation from French-speaking Quebec sold nearly 175 million records between 1987 and August 2004.
The figures do not include the 12 albums she recorded in French at the start of her career.
